Hi all,
I don’t want to make a dud investment - love a thick cleansing balm for night time. i like the more herbal smelling ones. I have tried:

eve lom (like this and would get again, but keen to see what else there is)
farmacy
Alpha H
Espa
Elemis pro collagen

thank you!

The Superdrug one is fab - Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser

PennyPugwash · 22/03/2024 15:33

Sisley. Pricey but amazing

MarilynBoo · 22/03/2024 15:40

Formula in M&S. Really lovely cleansing balm in a pink tub.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 22/03/2024 15:44

I really like the Antipodes Grapeseed Butter cleasing balm. It's thick and doesn't emulsify though, if that's important to you.

I economised and have the superdrug balm (blue pot) at the moment and it's not very pleasant.

The Body Shop is on my try list. As is Elemis.

I started using the new Liz Earle Superskin cleansing balm last month. I love it and it smells amazing. I got it on offer at Boots, so worth checking out.
Edit: forgot to mention, I'm 46 with dry, peri skin.

Stupid question alert - how does one use cleansing balm please? With water or with a reusable pad? Do you use this to take your make-up off or after? Do you then use serum and/or moisturiser?

I tried the Elemis pro-collagen rose balm after the gym last night, it smelt amazing, felt so nourishing and I now want some (even if I don't know how to use it!)!

I was told to use a small amount, warm it in your hands, then massage into your face. Then use some water on your face to emulsify it a bit and massage a bit more. Then take off with a cloth - I was told to use more of a flannel texture as opposed to the finer, hot cloth, type cloths. I use it in place of "normal" cleansing. Sometimes, if I've been wearing a lot of make up, I'll do it twice. Then just follow with serum, moisturiser and suncreen - or whatever you normally do!

Willowberry Nutrient Boost Cleansing Balm. Lovely stuff!

Cakey46 · 22/03/2024 19:04

I like Take the Day Off (Clinique - nice pot but it doesn't have fragrance) but if you want a value option (that does have nice smell) the try the Elf one.
I actively dislike the Bodyshop Camomile one. It's a very shallow tin other than that I can't remember why it was not for me.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 22/03/2024 19:07

Another Emma Hardie fan.

Been using it for ages, no breakout, no irritation, slippy enough to allow me to do my regular massage routine, easy to remove.

It is expensive, but it lasts a long time.

Petrarkanian · 22/03/2024 19:10

Lyonsleaf, you can't beat it. I've just started the bodyshop one I got for Christmas and it's no where near as good, leaves my eyes feeling all smeary.

Bananacentral · 22/03/2024 19:12

I recently got a cleansing balm in a Caroline Hirons kit which has been great

Deviant Skincare – Cleansing Concentrate Blue Tansy

its quite a small pot for the price but a nice luxury and leaves skin soft and cleansed.

also sounds like you’d like the smell!

SparkyBlue · 22/03/2024 19:16

I just got a Superdrug one in a blue pot and it's fab

Whatineed · 22/03/2024 19:55

I bought the Pixi dual cleansing pot a few weeks ago, half is a balm and half a cream.

It gives a really great deep cleanse.

Cotswoldmama · 22/03/2024 20:16

I agree with sparkyblue the superdrug B. Cleansing balm is amazing and good value

Purpleavocado · 22/03/2024 20:19

Clinique Take the Day Off. Its great and lasts forever

HanSB · 22/03/2024 20:31

Emma Hardie Moringa balm

Penguinsmum · 22/03/2024 21:38

Dies anyone know anything similar in texture/ feel to Emma Hardie? I love the feel of EH but don't like the smell! I might be the only one!

I'm not fussed about the smell either, though I've actually just bought a large tub of it as it was a good price, and it does feel great.

Try Jane Scrivner's cleansing balm (direct from website or QVC. That's my number 1 go to, it's lovely.

The Emma Hardie one is really good but no better than the Aldi rose one which is way cheaper.
I found the Superdrug blue one too drying.
The Aldi original hot cloth cleanser is also good and has a nice scent.

superplumb · 23/03/2024 17:52

Apothecary from m&s
Body shop camomile
Aldi rose is brilliant
Hated the sali Hughes one. Smelt awful and gave me spots.
Elimis is lovely but spendy

BlackSwan · 23/03/2024 18:09

Oskia. Smell is amazing & washes off nicely.

LightandBreezy · 23/03/2024 18:21

Just wanted to mention that the Emma Hardie one that lots of posters have mentioned is gorgeous smelling, but it has more of a floral/ fruity smell ( jasmine and orange blossom maybe?) than a herbal one.

Thank you!!!!

I had this in a subscription box a while back and loved it, then couldn't remember what it was to actually buy it. Been trying to remember for ages and had given up!
