Clothes from Amazon

My Instagram feed is increasingly filled with suggestions for try ons of clothes from Amazon. Some stuff looks nice but more often than not US influencers.

Any big hits to share from UK Amazon - basics, dupes, just things you wouldn't think to buy but which have been really good?

I've had some good leggings before - better quality than high street.

The reason influencers are so keen to push Amazon clothes is because of their affiliate links, it’s quick and easy to link and they get a kick back for every purchase.

Reverse image search anything without a head and you’ll find the clothing cheaper at Aliexpress etc. It’s all made in the far east like Shein. It’s a mixed bag but at least on aliexpress you get genuine reviews regarding quality and sizing.

I get knickers and bras from Amazon, they are quite good

I just remembered that a few years ago I did buy some of the Amazon Basics fashion line and that was fine. Also got a fantastic pair of trainers Puma x Amazon that I still wear.

My DS suggests a way around the rubbish and annoying Amazon search function is to search via Google (a very accurate search engine) for exactly what you want and look at Amazon links that come up.
For example "green 100% cotton v neck dress for women" and click on the Amazon links that pop up.

Totally agree. I also google when I'm looking for something on Mumsnet as the search function has not been working properly for me recently. Don't know if it's a MN glitch or my tablet.

I've had some nice branded children's clothes from Amazon.

I bought a couple of loose fitting jersey dresses from Amazon and really like them. They did shrink a bit though. I spotted a similar dress on the Kit and Kaboodal website and sent away for it. When it arrived, it was exactly the same dress I already owned from Amazon, down to the very label! I decided to keep it anyway.

Do have the links for these at all please?

@Bjorkdidit

They need to get better at sizing consistency and have more realistic photography, rather than how they currently present clothes so they look nothing like they do in real life on an actual person.

It's not always people ordering 'hauls' for fun. Some of us are also beyond frustration with how expensive and time consuming online shopping is as delivery and returns are costing more and more.

I totally agree with you . I've pretty much stopped shopping anywhere other than Next now, not because their sizing is consistent - far from it, but at least I can get returns from my house easily .

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 19/03/2024 19:26

@Mosaic123
Sadly that is not any more accurate . I often do google searches like that it it brings me polyester dresses from Shein when I've asked for cotton .

Wonderfulstuff · 19/03/2024 20:52

I'm pretty sure the volume you see on insta is due to the amazon affiliate programme £££.

That said, I do like the cotton high waisted knickers.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 20/03/2024 15:36

Did you have a look at the reviews @Gratuliere as I saw people commenting on the sizes they had bought comparing to their normal clothes size and some pictures too .

CactusMactus · 20/03/2024 16:44

Sports bras are fine from amazon. But I have no boobs!

Georgyporky · 20/03/2024 17:56

I've bought probably 12 tops & dresses from Amazon that I'm pleased with.
And free returns for those I don't like.
I only buy "prime", study the reviews, & follow the sizing details - even if it means my usual 12-14 is XL in China.

I was going to say sports bras. And branded trainers. Everything else is just too much hard work to plough through all the polyester when you searched for cotton or silk.

Lovemycat2023 · 20/03/2024 18:57

Yoga leggings, but it took me ages to read all the reviews. I bought two pairs and they are good quality. I made sure I followed the guidance and went for size large (I’m a 12)

I’ve had some really decent quality cotton flannel pyjamas from Amazon and all my jodhpurs (I work on a farm). All under £20, with thick fabric and good stitching they wash well last a good long time. I wouldn’t even look to buy ‘nice’ clothes from there though.

Do you have a link to the jods please? I need another pair. Thanks!
