Very hydrating lip balm?!

After a couple of weeks of illness and a week of hives and swollen lips due to a reaction, it’s been left with the most horrendous dry lips 😩

Can anyone recommend any extremely hydrating lip balms? I usually use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour crème but its doing absolutely nothing 😩

The one that works best for me is plain old Blistex Intensive Moisture.

lonelyo · 13/03/2024 07:39

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream. Amazed no one else has suggested it! It's the only thing I will use on my lips, can also use on dry elbows/knees, minor burns etc. comes in a tube which lasts me forever, or a stick.

Laneige lip sleeping mask is amazing!

Another vote for Laneige, I love the purple flavour!

People saying Reve de miel is it the stick one or the tub? I have the stick, it’s nice but not wow.

Because the OP said she's used it and it's done absolutely nothing for her.

Reve de Miel is nowhere near as moisturising as Laneige. I have both. I think though that if 8 hour cream isn't working at all they must be in a bad way. Have you tried dabbing some oil on them (castor would be my go to, or olive). Hasn't got the pleasant taste of commercial lip balms but more effective

Labello

8th for Nuxe!

Another vote for Laniege!

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, amazing on lips

Blistex Intensive Moisture saved my DS lips when nothing else was helping. He had large dry chapped areas of skin around his lips too - it looked so sore!

Try Blistex - more of an ointment rather than a balm but works for me when I have very very dry and cracked lips.

This, the original version has saved my lips!

Urgenthelplease · 13/03/2024 08:12

Paw paw. It doesn't last forever. You'll need to reapply but it's excellent.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/03/2024 08:15

Definitely Blistex cream.

colderandeatsmincepiesalot · 13/03/2024 08:20

When I have had really dry and chapped lips, I find a balm/Vaseline type ointment just sits on the skin rather than soaking in. So my go to is a really intensive hand cream or moisturiser unscented if poss. Keep rubbing it in in little circles as much as you can then cover with the balm on top. Do before bed. In the morning they should be soft and better

WrinklesShminkles · 13/03/2024 08:33

I think you need something creamy rather than balmy so it penetrates more. Blistex, La Roche Posay lipbalm, LRP Cicaplast - these work best for me. Then use balms for maintenance (any with lanolin tend to be best I find).

backinthebox · 13/03/2024 08:37

Blistex to heal and Carmex (tin not tube) to prevent further chapping.

Vaseline just feels like a nasty greasy slick on my face to me, and I must be a bit allergic to it because if left on it causes my lips to itch. I’ve never understood the appeal of it.

JerkintheMerkin · 13/03/2024 08:59

Liquid lanolin before bed. Amazingly hydrating. During the day I dab a bit of lanisoh to keep the hydration topped up.

Back21970 · 13/03/2024 09:56

La Mer lip balm is amazing, I’ve tried virtually all that have been mentioned on here (apart from the nipple cream) and it’s by far the best, however around £50 a pot.

Works practically overnight, brilliant stuff.

I was introduced to it by an Aunt who lives in Canada, where it gets very cold in winter.

A slick of oil under your lip balm also good, as a PP mentioned.

When I can’t stretch to La Mer I use the Ultrasun one and the Bioderma is also quite good.

I use penhaligons number one during the day - its great
but at night I use the proper old lady Nivea creme and its fantastic. Not had dry lips for years.

Geebray · 13/03/2024 10:44

The Inkey List Tripeptide Plumping Lip Balm. I'm on day three of using it and it is incredible. I got it in Boots.

Frosty1000 · 13/03/2024 11:01

Carmex - tube of the original rather than a flavoured one

lipgoss · 13/03/2024 11:09

As much Blistex as you can slather on overnight, and then regularly through the day Eucerin Acute Lip Balm. Both very plain, boring and medicinal like, but absolutely do the job

hotchocdrinker · 13/03/2024 11:52

Blistex relief cream. On badly chapped lips it will sting initially but after that it feels lovely and soothing!

Inyourwildestdreams · 13/03/2024 12:16

Thank you all for these suggestions 😊👍🏻 I’m a bit of a lip balm addict and slather it on throughout the day usually so have tried a fair few of those mentioned already (especially those mentioned since I last posted 😊).
They’re really pretty extreme now! The allergic reaction that I had on top of being ill left what was almost like burns all along my lips that have scabbed and then left the skin so dry and just won’t budge 😩 I’ve been trying for a good 7-8 weeks now!
