I am watching The Spy Who Loved Me and the main female character has an amazing wardrobe. The clothes wouldn’t look dated today, for example a belted shirt dress.

When Harry Met Sally.

Barbie

The Marvellous Mrs Maisel. To my uneducated eye, a lot of the outfits look like they were lifted straight off a Paris runway from the 1950s.
Swishy, swishy skirts!

The Fantastic Beasts films.
The costumes for the high council members are inspired and the 1930s street styles range from sharp suits and beaded gowns to drab orphans’ aprons.
All adding to the atmosphere.

Oh yes, her swing coats and cute matching hats in the first season!

The clothes worn by Sue in Crocodile Dundee 1 & 2. It was the 80's, but her clothes were classic and would be wearable in any decade since. You'd need to be very slim, young and confident to carry off the little red party dress though.

Yes! Sue Charlton is a style icon, every outfit is utterly gorgeous.

I also love pretty much everything Kirstie Alley wore in Cheers, and agree with a pp about Selena Gomez in Only Murders. Actually all the costumes (and interiors) in Only Murders are fantastic.

TheLeadbetterLife · 09/03/2024 23:02

Obviously also Margo Leadbetter...

CrystalTits · 09/03/2024 23:03

Magpie Murders. Lesley Manville’s outfits are gorgeously classy and she looks amazing in every episode.

Yes! I was just going to post this.
Margo Leadbetter too.

Diane Keaton in Annie Hall and Something’s gotta give (though that might be the house).

Grace Kelly in Rear Window.

Helena Bonham Carter’s wardrobe in Nolly was gorgeous. Fur coats, pussy bow blouses and beautiful kaftans.

I’ve been lusting after this gorgeous kaftan since I saw it. Feel it would be much more elegant (although more impractical) to waft around at home in a silk kaftan rather than leggings and a jumper.

Audrey Hepburn's clothes in How to Steal a Million (1966) all designed by Givenchy. Beautiful then, still beautiful.

Teddleshon · 09/03/2024 23:33

So agree with Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. Also Robin Wright in House of Cards.

dimllaishebiaith · 09/03/2024 23:33

Phryne in the Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries

Teddleshon · 09/03/2024 23:36

And pretty much any Bette Davis/ Katherine Hepburn / Deborah Kerr/ Ingrid Bergman film too!

BruceAndNosh · 10/03/2024 08:32

Marisa Tomei's clothes and shoes in Only You. With the perfect accessory, Robert Downey Jr.
And all on a teacher's salary...

rowanrome · 10/03/2024 10:25

Keira Knightley in Atonement and Aftermath, especially the green silk.

Grace Kelly in Rear Window.

A thousand times yes! The black and white tulle dress was a dream, Edith Head was a creative genius.

Tootytoot78 · 10/03/2024 18:38

Doris Day in Pillow talk, divine!

MissAdelaide · 10/03/2024 18:44
