i have this. tis uncompressed but rather nice. i wear it over this and with this. all as told to by a laura mercier make up artist....

Bumperlicious · 31/03/2008 08:00

I am bumping this because I have just noticed that nearly all the make-up brands in Boots are suddenly jumping on the band wagon. Anyone tried the high st ones?

I havnt been impressed with any of the high street ones tbh, although they have minerals in, they are not real mineral foundations (100% mineral )& yes the high street brands are definately jumping on the band wagon, shame though as I think many people will try these, be put off and not try one of the real mineral makeups.

firstmum45 · 31/03/2008 12:28

Agree Sabasaba high street ones are just pale immitations of the real thing.

I find I can only wear mineral foundation in the summer warmer months when my skin appears to be more oily feels to dry in the winter.

However it is brill does not sit in wrinkles I even wore it sunbathing in the garden last year never goes shiny and has a sunscreen.

I can recommend bare escentuals used when pregnant however they do not have a vast choice of shades wore light it was ok but have had better matches with other makes.

Was not sure about lilylolo maybe tried wrong colour sample my choice a bit to pale.

Have used colours of doja verygood and bargain price www.coloursofdoja.co.uk
loads of different shades and you can try samples.

Got some from Avon as they were selling it for £5 not true mineral makeup but good does not sit in wrinkles lack of shades tried ivory but was too pale for me the next shade up looks like powdered mud in the tub however did not look too bad on me think it was called bisque seems ok for light/medium skin shades but looks scary in the pot.

Will use again when weather warms up sticking to bobby brown stick makeup at the moment

Wuxiapian · 31/03/2008 12:35

Why is Avon's mineral makeup "not true mineral makeup"?

Please excuse my ignorance.

firstmum45 · 31/03/2008 13:10

Hi Wuxiapian the Avon mineral makeup is like the high street ones mentioned earlier in the thread is has other added ingredients to the mineral parts of it.

One of the selling points of mineral makeup is that it has no added man made chemicals and can be worn by the most sensitive skins if it has added man made substances then people with very sensitive skins would not be able to wear.

See the inika website for really pure stuff Cod mentioned it earlier then compare with high steet brands re ingredients

Wuxiapian · 31/03/2008 14:40

Oh, I see.

Thank you, first.

So, really, perhaps my sensitive, oily, zit-prone skin could do better than Avon's finest.

Oh, God, dare I even start the search?...

SabaSaba · 31/03/2008 14:55

If its sensitive, oily skin you have wuxiapian, I think mineral makeup would work well for you, try the bare escentuals firstmum recomends, it is really good, its a pity they dont do v small samples like lily lolo, but the colours are good, I tried fairly light, slightly to pale so then tried light which was spot on. Also agree with FM about using in the summer, if you have dry skin can be a bit to drying to use in winter.
That inika one looks good to, havnt tried it though.

I'm in the US. I LOVE Jane Iredale. They are really expensive, but last forever(bought mine around Halloween of 06, and still have plenty, although I don't wear it every day). I will not wear anything else. It doesn't even feel like I'm wearing makeup, and is a very natural look. I am so glad to have found it, I never wore makeup much before, because it always felt way to heavy on my skin.

I like it because most mineral makeup is designed for people who are "younger". Read have a 1 or a 2 as the first digit in their age, since after 30 in the cosmetic industry, you're old(er). It reflects the light better, and doesn't have many shimmery sparkly things in it, which doesn't look good if it caught even in a slight wrinkle. I have dark circles under my eyes, and it makes them go away.

Sorry, I could go on and on, and I've never been a big makeup person, but I just love it, and will never wear non-mineral makeup again. Have tried some at makeup parties, and wash it off as soon as I get home, because it feels so oily and heavy.

just bought the collection 2000 perfecting minerals make up , think it was £5 including a brush, so cheap and cheerful . i doubt it is a pure mineral one.. very impressed though ! covered up a couple of small blemishes and evened out skin.

will need to apply a touch more as a bit shiny now, but i would have to do that anyway,as always get a bit shiny.

and it is small enough pot to fit in a make up bag as the brush goes inside the pot too

i like it !

i've got this one. looks cakey to begin with but then settles down to give nice coverage. SPF 26 too

drosophila · 02/04/2008 20:00

I just bought the maybeline one today having used the L'Oreal one before. I think they are ok but tbh there is nothing better than a good night sleep.

I alternate between foundation, tinted moisturiser and mineral. Sometimes I spend a lot sometimes not.
