White high end dress for a city wedding

Hi I’m hoping the members of mumsnet can help with this task!

My best friend is getting married soon and is looking for a wedding dress. The wedding date is a few months away but too close to order through a bridal boutique. Any high street wedding dresses have been disappointing. She suffered a tragic 2nd trimester loss before Christmas and is carrying weight around her tummy, generally bigger than she would be so would need something that would make her feel good rather than self conscious.

I’m spending all my spare time searching for dresses for her but if anyone had come across any, or any suggested brands, it would be very much appreciated.

That is really lovely. I was a bit dubious being Whistles and JL but good call. I would hope they had another purchasing options other than John Lewis!

What kind of style does she go fir? What's her shape/height? Type wedding dress high street and the style she likes then she will get loads of suggestions like monsoon which have great options. Also look on Facebook for sample sales as now and sept is usual time big big ones as change of season. There's also hiring options depending where you live

They aren't high end but JJ's house has every style going and you can get them delivered to try on at home so she could get a feel for a style that suits her. I'm so sorry to hear about her loss :( she needs the wedding of her dreams for sure! :) 💐

Look up Odd Muse, Farfetch, Outnet, Net a Porter, Still White (you can get brand new unworn dresses on there too). What sort of size? Some brands are better than others for bigger sizer or more petite.

Check and see if you have a wed2be store nearby. All their dresses are off the peg and they have a great selection of veils, headpieces etc. Prices are really reasonable as well.

Not really sure what sort of style she'd like but this dress would cover her tummy area and it has pockets. Who doesn't love pockets.

There's loads of other styles on their website. You don't need an appointment for this store and can take away same day. So she'd get the bridal store experience without the long order times.

Has she tried bridal shops? I bought 2(!) when wedding was only. 8 weeks away. There were some they couldn't order for sure but still a lot of options.

It’s original Vivienne Westwood who’s now dead, so more of a collectors item or for fans.

I would second the Roksanda suggestion. In RL the dresses are stunning.
