My hairdresser is good - but don’t feel comfortable with him.

I found an excellent hairdresser a couple of years ago. He knows exactly what I want to achieve and is really good at it (and also in demand).

However, I don’t feel comfortable with him. Just something, not sure what. One example, he is definitely a bit full of himself, but it’s something more than just being confident. Last time I saw him I actually felt terrible the rest of the day, even though the cut was as good as ever!

The hunt for a new hairdresser is not easy at my age …

Anyone experienced this? I haven’t before. A hairdresser who can do my hair I usually get on with.

WWYD?

Does his last name begin with a T?

Just don’t talk to him! I like my hairdresser very much, but I quite often say I don’t want to talk because I’ve got reading I need to catch up on.

Hmm, I value a good haircut very much so would put up with it! I wouldn't talk to him though, I've got to the point now where I'm past caring about what people think and it's obvious that I just want to look at their magazines or my phone. Not rude but just not involved.

For one day of feeling a bit rubbish every couple of months I’d put up with it. When someone gets your hair you stick like glue. Try going early and then doing something that will make you feel amazing after, or go late so less time to feel rubbish. Or sitting there thinking this man is a prick can help.

It sounds like he makes you less confident with yourself and thus you self doubt after ? Sounds a rather strange dynamic that someone can give you a great haircut and yet make you feel awful simultaneously.
mine is not the brightest chap (he admits this himself), his technique is hit and miss. I’m not overly fond of him but I can’t be arsed finding someone new.
