So, I've always box dyed my hair blonde (probably light brown naturally) but last 6 months or so my usual box has made my hair brassy. Tried purple shampoo ect. Tried a shade lighter but no good either. So tonight I used a one with bleach in to try and "lift it' - brassiness has gone but it is sooooo light! I'm pushing 50 and worried it looks trashy. Going on holiday on Monday to add to drama. Is it as bad as I think? How can I fix it?!

Don't use any more purple shampoo!!!
Follow the gorgeous SLK scalp bleacher on Instagram and she will certainly convert you

You look absolutely bloody lovely! Hair looks great on you.

Sounds silly but you also have a really kind face.

Justleaveitblankthen · 17/02/2024 06:14

You look fabulous! Am extremely jealous you have hair strong enough to withstand it.
Mine would have snapped off at the scalp if I had dared. and I did😔

Soontobe60 · 17/02/2024 08:43

Looks fab!

Looks good. Just be careful of sun and chlorine in freshly bleached hair.

Newtrix · 17/02/2024 10:12

I think it's really lovely, suits you very much. Have a lovely holiday!

Liking the warm toner idea- could I use this to do a root tap as someone suggested?

@ilovelamp2 I've used that toner before and got a lovely colour, it does come out darker than the pic on the box initially but lightens after a few washes.

I also use this in between and find it excellent for getting rid of brassy tones.

Hi op what colour were you before?

Looks lovely btw

ilovelamp2 · 17/02/2024 13:20

I was a darker blond (with some dodgy brassy bits underneath!)

That one looks good too Hecate01. I'll see what I can get my hands on! Would the clairol pearl one be less dark if I just left on for 10 minutes?

I used that same Clairol one in Luminous Pearl after a hair salon bleach disaster. I wanted mine Ash blonde though so I leave mine on for the full 20 mins and it works really well on mine getting it darker and less yellow. I've just redone it this morning. Originally, I cut a few strands of hair off and tested on that to see how long to leave it for the colour I wanted.

ilovelamp2 · 17/02/2024 13:57

Any chance of a picture Pudseypie?!

AnneShirleysNewDress · 17/02/2024 15:28

The colour is lovely and really suits you. I wouldn't change a thing.

cbuew9 · 17/02/2024 17:46

Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous....

as previous posters have said, if you are going on holiday somewhere hot, take a hat with you to prevent the sun from drying it out as it looks lovely condition.
