Waxing *down there*!

Hey!

I've been going to a beautician to have my bikini line waxed for about 12 months, but I CANNOT for the life of me get rid of the ingrown hairs that come - I thought at first it might have been because I'd never been waxed before and the hair just needed to get used to it (I don't know), but they won't go away!

Anyone have amy tips/products/routines to get rid of them? I exfoliate every other day!

Stop waxing. That is what causes it unfortunately. I've given up waxing and shaving the front off. I keep hearing that the bush is coming back / it looks and feels like chicken skin / the hair has pheremones in it and is there for a reason so I'm going back to short back and sides.

sommeliermama · 07/02/2024 19:33

I agree with @something2say , I always had ingrown hairs with waxing and nothing would stop them. I think because the hairs are thicker there, they get trapped easily. I do a combination of laser hair removal and shaving for now, and hardly ever gets ingrowns

something2say · 07/02/2024 19:37

The vagina book says that the vast majority of injuries to vaginas are a result of hair removal, when hair is meant to be there.

VenusClapTrap · 07/02/2024 19:42

Yeah just stop waxing. My foof is so much happier. I just keep the edges neat so nothing is poking out of swimwear, but the rest has rewilded nicely.

Waitingfordoggo · 07/02/2024 19:43

Mine is also happier for not being waxed, plucked or shaved. I will tidy up the sides if I’m going to wear a swimsuit but otherwise I leave it be.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/02/2024 19:45

Get laser instead I am loving not having an awful red rash from shaving

Matildahoney · 07/02/2024 19:47

Does she use warm (with strips) or hot wax? This can make a difference.

Lollypop701 · 07/02/2024 19:48

The 1970’s bush is baaaaack, you heard it here first! Anyone who says differently has ingrown hairs or an itchy foof from shaving.

StuffLoriThangs · 07/02/2024 19:51

You’re exfoliating too much. Every 3 or 4 days rather than every other.
and moisturise (I use a tea tree body moisturiser for there and it helps).

JessicaPeach · 07/02/2024 19:52

Sometimes a bad waxer. I started shaving and I exfoliate first, use a sharp razor and lots of soap/shaving cream. Afterwards I use a roll on deodorant and have never had an ingrowing hair since

For some of us it never went away 😂

Ilovemyshed · 07/02/2024 19:54

Ot never seems to happen with the hot lycol wax.

Glonty · 07/02/2024 20:03

Laser hair removal solves this

Glonty · 07/02/2024 20:04

Soz, I have a smooth mound and everywhere and I love it

sunshineandshowers40 · 07/02/2024 20:12

Are they using hot wax, I used to have this issue years ago when they used strips.

Lemoonada · 07/02/2024 20:16

I lasered the edges and let the rest grow freely

StarlightLady · 07/02/2024 22:09

Are we talking about hot wax? If yes: Change your beautician and tell the new one exactly what the problem is; this should not be happening. Can you get a recommendation from a friend?

As for those saying hair should be there etc, do you remove underarm and leg hair?

As for the suggestion that hair is meant to be there, meant??? The body was not designed, it evolved. And to suggest otherwise does not take into account there are many flaws!

So all men are wrong to shave because their hair is “meant” to be there. Really?

Precipice · 07/02/2024 22:19

No. I'm a little mammal. Both men and women get underarm and leg hair. Why 'should' women remove that? I don't want bald legs, bald vulva, etc. I do trim with nail scissors.

not really.

Yay! Let’s hear it for all the hairy fannies . I’ve waited 60 years for this momentous day 🤣

I like the fact you identify as a little mammal, it’s very cute

StuffLoriThangs · 08/02/2024 10:47

Laser doesn’t work for all skin/hair types and is quite costly.

Waitingfordoggo · 08/02/2024 12:03

As for those saying hair should be there etc, do you remove underarm and leg hair?

As infrequently as possible! And only when the leg/underarm is going to be seen by strangers. This is purely social conditioning for me, and fear. I don’t think body hair is disgusting at all but am well aware that lots of people do (or say they do) find it disgusting so I shave those parts when they’re going to be seen because I’m scared of people’s reactions and being thought of as disgusting. It’s pathetic, I know. I wish I could be braver.

Waitingfordoggo · 08/02/2024 12:05

As a huge fan of beards, yes I would always consider it wrong for men to shave 😂
