Anybody not wowed by color wow?

I use the color wow spray before blow drying. I never seem to notice a real difference to the frizz level. Just wondering where I’m going wrong as it gets such rave reviews. I’d love it to work as well as the ads it shows on SM.

Me! I hated it.

Shopper727 · 06/02/2024 10:40

None of it is any good made my hair horrible and shampoo was awful it is hype only.

verylongday · 06/02/2024 10:41

Waste of ney IMO

Luckingfovely · 06/02/2024 10:58

Yeah - I really wanted to love it but it's just a bit meh.

In a strange twist, the Aldi dupe is far more effective.

SeanMean · 06/02/2024 11:09

I also thought it was crap! 💩

UnderstatedElegance · 06/02/2024 11:11

This has been heavily advertised to me on social media. I've been wondering the same. Shame it doesn't seem to live up to the hype.

daisydalrymple · 06/02/2024 11:37

Oh interesting, as I’ve not found a bad review so far. I tried my old John Frieda serum and got much better effects. Just wondered if I wasn’t putting enough on or something. Might try the Aldi one thanks.

Crap.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/02/2024 11:53

Anything heavily advertised on SM is crap in my experience.

BlueBlueBerries · 06/02/2024 11:54

Are you drying the hair with tension, ie round brush or similar?

SorrelForbes · 06/02/2024 12:01

Useless stuff. I now use K18 mask and it's much better.

Mercurial123 · 06/02/2024 12:06

Color Wow left my hair a dry and stringy mess. I really hate it.

dailyduel · 06/02/2024 12:27

I ordered and returned several of their styling products. They did nothing for my hair at all.

Remagirl · 06/02/2024 12:30

Oh I love the Dreamcoat spray. Definitely makes my hair shiny and glossy looking. Stays like that for days too.

Leafbuds · 06/02/2024 12:38

Didn't work for me either - it seemed to coat each hair separately, which then stood apart from each other in a wiry sort of way. But just that feeling of thick coatedness was odd and didn't look great. I kept thinking I was using it wrong.

I don't know what the Aldi dupe is.

There is one by Drybar called Liquid Glass that seems similar - I have another thread asking if anyone has tried it who hasn't got on with Dream Coat, but nobody has so far. People who try it all seem to like Dream Coat already!

Leafbuds · 06/02/2024 12:41

But if anyone does want to try Dream Coat, you can get the trial size version from Marks and Spencer (or at least you could a couple of years ago, when I tried it)

(I haven't found anywhere UK based to try sample sizes of the Liquid Glass)

Better for what? They are completely different products. Its like saying you found a hairspray crap but found a different brand dry shampoo better 🫤

daisydalrymple · 06/02/2024 12:46

Yes been blow drying as described. I’m a bit crap at blow drying mind you, but try my best 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
remagirl how much do you put on and how do you dry it?

OP posts:
boopboopbidoop · 06/02/2024 12:47

It has to be applied and dried in the correct way forgot to work. IMO most people don't have the skills to dry as is needed. This is not to throw shade at people's skills. It's just not really a good product for consumer use.

You need to be able to dry your hair with the tension that is used when you get a blow out at a salon and it's very hard to achieve that at home on your own for anyone. We all know how smooth the stylists get your hair compared to at home.

If it's dried in under the right tension and smoothing skills then the results are fantastic and lasting.

So I think it's a great product but one that is so unlikely to be able to be used properly that it isn't a great thing to buy.

daisydalrymple · 06/02/2024 12:48

@boopboopbidoop ahh that’s my answer then probably. Not the best at blow drying 🤦🏻‍♀️

Even if you were 'pretty good' at blow drying I think the results will be mediocre. It's a tricky product and let's face it, next to none of us have the skills to dry hair like a pro. Even pros will tell you it's harder to do on themselves than on someone else's head.

So it's a great product that is unlikely to be able to be used properly. 🫤

I towel dry hair, spray all over and brush through. Blow dry, straighten done. No special skill but it is a heat activated product so I thoroughly dry hair.

This.

I got only mild results but could kind of tell I wasn't getting enough tension into each section to make the product work properly.

This thread reminds me that I must give it another go now that I've got my new Revlon blow dryer brush thingy, I can really achieve some tension with that so fingers crossed!
