Hi

I have a registry office wedding , it’s early April .

After booked a private room in a nice restaurant for 20 of us .

So I want a dress that isn’t a wedding dress and a bit different , striking .

I am 5ft 6. Size 18-20 .
50s . Fair complexion .

I can be glam with make up .

I want a dress that stands out . Budget up to £300.

Lovely but pricey . Presume taxes if sending here from US. It seems they just have a sale with samples , can’t see larger sizes. But they are beautiful .

quite like a vintage vibe .

try the high end high Street- they used to to the odd striking dress each season.

I got mins from Whistles- years ago now but it was an almost neon coral lace maxi halter neck. It was awesome. As it was not to everyone’s taste in went into the sale £275 reduced to &140 or something

I think high street quality and ambitions may have changed since then but worth trying. Failing that, the outnet, matches and far fetch? Or premium cos or Zara for interesting cuts?

This is ferociously minimalist so wouldn’t work if you want something fancy. But if you have any magnificent jewellery …

I love this dress so incredibly much. I have no need for it so it’s hard to justify but I love it so much. Thanks for introducing me to it!

I'm another Whistles fan. This would need careful though on underwear, and jewellery.

Shamelessly stolen from the linked thread just because this (and others on that site) is gorgeous and fulfils all your criteria (sorry I missed the max budget in your OP with my Wolf & Badger suggestions)

It is gorgeous, @Cavewomansue! And such a crazy bargain. The kind of dress you’d expect to see shimmering into Westminster Abbey on a State Occasion, accessorised with a king’s ransom of jewels.

Years ago I used to long for a Rodarte dress - have rather lost track of them over time, so no idea if the original creative vision still pertains or if this dress is just a happy accident. It’s much slinkier than the designs I remember.

This is more my thing . Striking . No frills or flowers . Strong colour . Bit of cleavage . And a bit vintage .

Can’t be backless, strapless or Bardot as need a good bra .

Bit of sleeve good as well .

Would also go for a bit of animal print , even a bright pink animal print !

I got my wedding dress from the debutante dept of Debenham in 2007. I was at my wits end to get what I wanted.

I had been in loads of wedding shops in the bridesmaid department as I wanted burgundy type deep red and couldn't find it.

In despair and last shop, I went in in Debenham, and there it was. If it hadn't been in there, I would have it made.

Think out of the box if you have an idea of what you want. Think out of the box even if you don't know what you want.

The debutante depth worked for me. I got married in a deep blood red dress with black wrap and silver shoes wearing my mom jewellery from when she was younger, which were silver with diamonds in the chain and bracelet.

My bridesmaids wore silver
