You've got to be having a laugh!!!!

I'm sitting browsing the usual suspects of websites that I happen to browse and lo and behold I'm on the Next website and they have loads of new stock in.

I'm interested.

So I start browsing the shoes and what do I find, only these gems:
https://www.next.ie/en/style/su238249/901806#901806

€912 a pair.

In Next.

Do they even know who their target market is any more?????

I keep scrolling...

I find these

https://www.next.ie/en/style/su238242/901747#901747

€746

You've got to be having a laugh, right? No one goes to the Next website to find D&G shoes.....or do they? Is this where the people with money shop now?

They would not be there is they were not selling....

letsbepositive2024 · 31/01/2024 10:17

Bit of an odd collab as totally different markets

What next, ASDA and PRADA?

saturnspinkhoop · 31/01/2024 10:20

Next used to sell Tesco clothes.

peachgreen · 31/01/2024 10:20

The Next website utterly infuriates me now. They sell so many different brands that it's impossible to browse.

poopoolala · 31/01/2024 10:22

You are wrong ! I work there and people 100% will because of our credit account

Most people have it maxed out for stuff they can't afford .

Next absolutely nail everything so don't underestimate them !

ThePoshUns · 31/01/2024 10:23

I used to prefer Next when it was just their own brands curated by style, ie casual/ office/ beach. For someone like me rubbish at putting outfits together i found it helpful.
Now there is too much choice

BlastedPimples · 31/01/2024 10:24

If spending £££££s were important to me, I don't think I'd buy them from Next regardless of the brand.

Receiving your costly items in a grey Next bag is not a good part of the experience.

poopoolala · 31/01/2024 10:24

Just filter the website to next only if you only like next

AtomicBlondeRose · 31/01/2024 10:24

Next aren’t selling them as such - they’re just a storefront for various brands. If they sell 1 pair or 100000 makes no odds to Next as they just collect the commission on the sale basically.

saturnspinkhoop · 31/01/2024 10:24

Yes there is too much. I use the filters and even then there’s too much to go through. I have an account with them though as it’s convenient.

YouHaveAnArse · 31/01/2024 10:28

God forbid we underestimate Next, eh?

So they're more like Amazon in that respect? I wouldn't have thought it but fair enough.

This is what I was thinking.

I mean if you're looking for D&G shoes, surely you'd want the whole D&G shopping experience, including walking out of their store or a store with your purchases in a D&G bag, not a Next bag?

I reckon there could be some good collabs here!
We already have PRASDA…how about:
Loubury’s
Karl Lidlfelt
Missonisons
Tesco e Gabanna

Clarabell77 · 31/01/2024 11:17

@BlastedPimples usually the branded stuff comes in the branded boxes/packaging. No different to ordering from anywhere else online really. Strange thing to be snobby about.

@YouHaveAnArse

It's literally just an Argos for clothes now . The clothes in store only make half the money . The rest is online from selling other people's stuff for profit ..

I don't like their clothes much although they are significantly better than they used to be but the companies logistics and business models are pretty genius

People buying stuff they can't afford and stuff they didn't make but the credit account then earns money from the interest .

I enjoy my part time job but the point I'm making is they know exactly what they are doing . They are making high end stuff accessible to the average Joe.

BlastedPimples · 31/01/2024 11:31

@Clarabell77 not at all snobby.

Buying high end goods like this from Next is simply odd to me. A brand mismatch.

LookItsMeAgain · 31/01/2024 11:36

@poopoolala "They are making high end stuff accessible to the average Joe" the thing is though, for the average Joe, buying stuff from Next itself is probably as 'high end' as they are likely to go or be able to afford.
If you're able to afford D&G shoes or merchandise, you're probably not an 'average Joe' are you so why would you buy the products from Next instead of going straight to the source?

Greatscottshesgotit · 31/01/2024 11:37

Next is basically a catalogue isn’t it.

The online element I mean, you’ve got all sorts of shit going on which is reminiscent of the old Grattan catalogue days.

I remember convincing my dad to buy me a Versace jumper for 120£ (this was 1997!) and paid it off weekly.

I can totally see that people will use their credit account for these types of purchases. Definitely cheapens the designer brand but then I don’t think they really care that much about their ready to wear lines.

poopoolala · 31/01/2024 11:40

@LookItsMeAgain because of the credit account

poopoolala · 31/01/2024 11:41

And because of the easy returns .. free delivery etc
