Saggy jawline: non-injectable, non surgical solutions?

CharlotteRumpling · 25/01/2024 08:06

Gravity has finally caught up with my face at 52. There have been threads about this before but quite old ones. Anything I can do that does not involve injectables? I am really doubtful about shelling out for one of those Foreo bear things. Seem very expensive for barely perceptible results on the You Tube videos.

My skin is decent. It's only my chin that lets down the side! I have quite a strong, prominent jaw anyway ( Think Eddie Izzard).

Face yoga?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 25/01/2024 08:08

Caci facial

CharlotteRumpling · 25/01/2024 08:17

The thing with all the face yoga Gua sha Caci facials is that you only ever see young gorgeous influencers trying them out so the before - after pics look exactly the same! What effect do they have on us lesser mortals? I am unsure.

Hyalauranic acid on the chin and neck and nighttimes. The Ordinary one is good value.

Queenonfleek · 25/01/2024 08:27

there is little outside of surgery to fix Jowls and sagging skin .. injectables can’t lift .. check
out Natalia spierings on instagram.. I trust her opinions as she is not sponsored by anyone and has nothing to sell .. her book is worth a read .. saved me £££ in skincare

CharlotteRumpling · 25/01/2024 08:30

Thanks all. I dont spend on skincare normally except for Tret, which has worked well for me. I am happy with a very minimal skin care regime but will look at hyaluronic acid.

Maybe I need to lose those last few pounds around my tummy, though I am a healthy BMI.

FOREO bear does have an effect but it isn’t magic and you have to use it religiously. It often also has the side effect of causing spots temporarily. So it tones but gradually and I think you would have to have minimal sagging to feel like it has made a real improvement. It won’t tackle heavy jowls much.

CharlotteRumpling · 25/01/2024 08:38

At the moment the sagging is minimal. I am so bad with daily use of anything though! My sister also has sagging jowls now, though oddly my mum has lost hers with age.

I use a magnitone micro current device which I think makes a difference

MattDamon · 25/01/2024 11:26

I'm a big derma rolling fan. Start with .5 mm roller. You can use it with the hyaluronic acid.

If you lose weight, you'll lose weight off your face as well and it's going to go down even further. I read somewhere once that women need a bit of fat in their faces because you have none it's going to be just empty sagging skin, like those people who have the gastric band surgery and then need to have another operation to get rid of excess skin.

I'm seriously considering a facelift as I like less and less what I'm seeing in the mirror (I'm 51). If you compare the money you'd pay for having regular Botox and fillers (which do not give the same result as surgery btw) and the cost of surgery, the operation ends up being cheaper, plus no risk of allergic reactions.

I've started to research doctors already, I think it's time to face the knife for me

itsnothingoriginal · 25/01/2024 12:38

Hmm I have same issue and use a plumping serum and primer which help and have micro dermabrasion which is good for improving skin tone. Have seen a bit of improvement from face yoga.

I've got saggy jowls in my late 40s (much earlier than others my age seemingly) and have just been advised to go for Profhilo. It's incredibly expensive and you have to keep it up every 3-6 months!

i can't see that helping , and I say that as someone who has a saggy chin line how and is having profhilo, it's not that kind of treatment. I think the only thing that would help is a face lift or perhaps filler in your temples to provide scaffolding and hoik it all up? Morpheus has a slight lifting effect, very slight.

CharlotteRumpling · 25/01/2024 13:14

Thanks all. Won't be having any kind of filler, Botox, Profilho or a face-lift. May try Foreo or a Gua Sha if I can muster up that energy.

I see Dr Natalia says only surgery can help so maybe I just accept it, as DH has! I wish Tret worked for sagging.

I’m much the same as you OP! My DM and her DM (nana) had amazing bone structure which I’ve sort of inherited but not quite! They did however have tiny boobs (nana was jealous) and I’ve always even when skinny have had a decent rack.

I’d think along the lines of a face lift for me but expensive and I’m too scared!

I did try a Gua Sha but it didn’t seem to do much.

I’d be tempted by this.

MuddyBoots21 · 25/01/2024 14:36

Ultherapy, Softwave, Morpheous 8 and Neogen plasma treatments (at a clinic) may all work for this but they are £££, not pain free and require top ups every 18 months to 2 years.

Facial cupping is something I've started trying. No idea if it works yet but I find it quite relaxing!

Foreo et al is better as preventative or for minor temporary lift (I have one). Don't lose weight quickly as you'll just get more loose skin.

Nothing really. Only filler or surgery will pull up the loose skin now.

laughing at the idea of gua sha altering a sagging jawline! Sorry.

irbclad · 25/01/2024 14:53

What's the science behind derma rollering 🤔.

Jaxhog · 25/01/2024 14:56

Sellotape?

DizzyRascal · 25/01/2024 15:02

Well I’m trying to grow my emerging beard to cover mine…
Seriously though, face exercise does help. Also smiling a lot, getting enough sleep and not looking down at your phone too much will stop it getting worse. Also falling in love/ lots of sex if that’s a possibility at all? 😬
Theres nowt you can rub on your skin that will work I don’t reckon.

soberfabulous · 25/01/2024 15:14

queenonfleek Dr Natalia is amazing isn't she, she's my dermatologist!

I've had some Botox in my jaw which has helped smooth things a bit but TBh there's not a huge amount to be done other than a facelift...which I'll consider in maybe 10 years... I'm 47 now.

OSU · 25/01/2024 17:05

HRT if you are not on it. Lack of oestrogen can cause the jaw to shrink. It's described as putting a table cloth over a smaller table...

Apparently experts can tell by looking at a woman's face whether she's on HRT.

I've been reading about Hifu, but haven't had it
