Chanel trainers / designer trainers

Hi
I’m just wondering if anyone buys chanel trainers , even slightly lower designer trainers Dior , Celine etc ?
Are they worth it ? I have a few designer bags ( under 10) and I feel this year I want to try not to buy any bags and focus on something else luxury . I have one pair already but thinking of getting a couple more pairs but unsure due to I’m actually wanting to wear them so don’t think I’d re sell in future etc , I’m buying new /unworn but preloved so cost wise usually upto £800 rrp is over 1k I do keep eye on eBay for a bargain barely used but never seems to happen.

I have enough SLGS and I recently got a beautiful Burberry coat I just feel I want to move away from buying bags or at least limiting it to 1 or 2 a year.

if you don’t buy trainers what other luxury items do you own / want to buy ?

I no longer buy anything extravagant shoes wise as I see it worthless and such a waste and I'm someone who has a few trainers from different luxury brands currently sitting in the cupboard no longer being worn. I no longer wear them as they no longer give me pleasure as they are just logos and screams aspiring to be something. I'm happier in my New balances and Adidas Sambas daily and out and about. I think the tide has turned and silent luxury all the way. If you know you'll know when someone has spent hundreds and thousands on their outfit by the quality not the logos and they are wearing New Balances underneath. But of course if it makes you happy go for it. It made me happy when I first got mine so who am I to judge but the perception has shifted with such luxury items.

Air Jordan 1 Low Golf ‘White Croc’ DD9315-110 For Sale – Jordans To U
look quite similar to me.

If you love them @Curiouscarebear get them. I'm not the best judge. They're just white trainers to me.

They'd probably be more comfortable than ones from primark or asda.

Oh, in answer to your question - if you don’t buy trainers what other luxury items do you own / want to buy?

I used to buy all sorts of designer items. But now, not so much. Over the last few years, have starting buying vintage pieces, and have a growing collection of Chanel, Miu Miu and Prada items from the the 90s-2010 (which I consider to be the brands heydays).

I don't think the quality of design or product is there now, and the pricing is ridiculous, more so given how many fakes are flying around. These brands are pretty much mass-produced now, so for me, not luxury at all.

Pic from internet of the ones I’m considering

These are a very very very fancy version of Nike Air Force ones 😂

Mercurial123 · 23/01/2024 17:08

Agree there's nothing special about the trainers but if you're happy buying them go for it. It's just a cash grab from Chanel. There's nothing in the design or materials that justifies the price apart from the logo.

VenusClapTrap · 23/01/2024 17:23

there's nothing remotely in the spirit of Chanel about trainers either

That’s how I feel about it. I’ll cheerfully splurge on luxury items, but for me they have to be pieces that are original and/or stylish. I’d rather have a beautiful cashmere sweater or leather belt. Without logos.

Probs made in china, in the same place Nike are made. That anyone would pay ludicrous amounts of cash for these is hilarious.

Chanel trainers are made in Italy unless they moved to China in the last year or so.

UtterlyButterly2048 · 23/01/2024 18:37

@Toooldforthis36 why? It’s not your money. Why is people spending their own money on things they like or want “hilarious”?

Ireolu · 23/01/2024 18:47

I wouldn't tbh just because shoes get dirty and them getting dirty and spending that much on them would annoy me. I have some some AM ones bought in the sale for maybe £250 a few years ago. Barely wear them.

I got to the fed up of lux handbag buying a few yrs ago. Now I am more interested in jewellery. More worthwhile than lux shoes for me personally.

Motherofpearlxoxo · 23/01/2024 18:51

I just don’t think they are worth it as they will start to discolour and scuff at same rate as cheaper ones, however well you try to look after them. I’d stick with Veja, Superga and Axel Arigato (higher end) and replace regularly. That will look better than wearing your Chanel ones when they start to look tired.

Prinnny · 23/01/2024 18:54

I like those white Chanel ones. I’ve got some Gucci ones and Chloe ones that are both comfy to wear, DH has some LV ones and calls them the shoes of death there that uncomfortable 🤣🤣

BlackSwan · 23/01/2024 18:55

I was going to say there's no way Coco Chanel would have designed trainers for her collection. They're intrinsically ugly.
But then I saw these. For the school run?

I have these ones and must say they are very comfortable although a slightly narrow fit. I do wear them often but it is annoying when the threads get discoloured.

declutteringmymind · 23/01/2024 19:16

The problems with those is that I would assume that they are fake.

😂😂😂. “Price on request”.

lola8345 · 23/01/2024 19:19

Haha, I also thought nike airforce. I was hugely annoyed at paying for Nikes for teenage daughter..such ugly shoes, stupid amount of money. Get ruined so easily.
Paying all that money for two cc initials.?

Chanel was all about style, trainers are never going to be stylish, comfortable yes but not appropriate for a couture label. ( just them cashing in)

Would you say sizing is true or do they come up small ? I’m on the fence with them so unsure if I’ll actually buy them . I do think I worry about them being just white but then again I’d only use them in the summer.

I think most people presume such trainers are fake.

Depends what the person looks like overall

I wear shoes and trainers that are manufactured to support and protect my feet.

All these older women you see with numerous health complaints from wearing 1k cheap manufactured designer trainers says it all.

You've obviously never owned a £1k pair of anything. Why on earth do you think they are badly made? I've had shoes and boots in that price range and they last for years. You sound terribly bitter.

You are lagging. Quiet luxury has had its moment.

Sad bitterness dressed up as superiority

ianshe · 23/01/2024 20:14

I have <cough> a few pairs of designer trainers. I find the Chanel are always narrow (but my feet are probably on the wider side if normal) and they don't have the type of cushioning you'd find in Nikes for example. I don't have those exact ones you posted, but my husband does! They look great on and he doesn't complain about comfort.

regularmumnotacoolmum · 23/01/2024 23:59

I would say unless you have wide feet you could probably take your regular size. I wear either a 37.5 or 38 in most shoes. I opted for a 38 and they're perfect with just the right amount of room to breathe.

Santasjingleballs · 24/01/2024 00:16

I have a pair of Chanel trainers….I regret buying them cost a little over £1k! I’ve only worn them twice since Buying them at the start of 2023…..they’re heavy to walk in and you should size down! I got them in my size in 38 but they feel very roomy! Not worth it in my opinion
