Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream - any good?

I am in the market for some face cream soon. I have seen this mentioned a lot recently and wondered if it is worth giving it a try.
I appreciate that it not the cheapest, but currently about half the price of the cream I have been using for the past 3 or so years.
Any experience, advice or opinions welcome.

It's good enough for me to repurchase. I think of it as a posh version of the old classic blue tin Nivea.

Jesus half the price of what cream ?
I bought the magic eye cream and it's rubbish

VaddaABeetch · 18/01/2024 18:19

I was given it twice as a present. I’ve found Aldi creams for €6 to be far superior.

Same here. I couldn't wait to finish my Magic Water cream (bought on impulse from a Charlotte Tilbury counter) and go back to Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base.

The Magic Water felt like it simply sat on my skin and wasn't being absorbed.

Greenbriar · 18/01/2024 18:31

Sorry just realised the OP was talking about Magic Cream, not Magic Water Cream...

sandysings · 18/01/2024 18:32

I suggest you ask the next 10 year old girl you see as I think they all got it for Christmas this year 😂

Allthecatseverywhereallatonce · 18/01/2024 18:36

I have tried magic cream for 2 whole pots and honestly it is not worth the money. I now use a combination of revolution and face theory. I wanted to love it but it was a really minimal difference for me

Identify what your skin needs and then search for those ingredients.

CharlotteMakepeace · 18/01/2024 18:39

Charlotte Tilbury magic cream reminded me of the original Ponds dry skin cream which was sold in the 70s and 80s and possibly before them.

I prefer this range

Nothing in the ingredients would make me think it's anything other than an average, normal moisturizer. (Water, glycerine, silicones) There is a tiny bit of vitamin C tucked in right near the end of the list but nah.
Incidecoder also says the second most common ingredient is a dodgy unproven sunscreen thing (I've never heard of it and CT don't advertise it as containing sunscreen, so that's a bit weird)

Thereyougo10 · 18/01/2024 19:10

Gifted my two teens with this for Xmas. One loves it, one only likes it for the Tik tok hype and rarely uses it, almost a month later. I tried it a few times and it's not for me. There are better products out there for that price or less.

PomsRun · 18/01/2024 19:11

Below average. I don’t like any of the products apart from the eyeshadow quad.

MadamVastra · 18/01/2024 19:17

I love the Augustinus Bader rich cream does anyone know how the magic cream compares? Tia!

No comparison I'd say. The CT is full of silicones and synthetic gubbins and quite eclectic ingredients that don't really have any proven effect on skin.

The AB is mainly plant oils and natural super humectants, panthenol etc. Don't think there's any silicone in it, but not sure. Ingredients look very nice.

Iirc, the Magic (like BB Face base) was originally marketed as a base/primer rather than a moisturizer (hence all the silicone) Seems to have shifted towards calling itself a moisturizer now.

Thanks for all the feedback, I may need to step away and just continue with Venn.

Revolution Pro Miracle Cream (£10) is supposed to be a great dupe - to be honest, I prefer it.

NonSequentialRhubarb · 18/01/2024 22:44

It's the only thing that doesn't aggravate my rosacea and actually calms it down. I do resent the price though.

I'm in a constant cycle of "my skin looks awful, try the magic cream", "wow my skin looks great", "my skin can't have been that bad, I can't justify the price" "Jesus Christ, my skin is awful, get me the magic cream".

Dreamweaving · 18/01/2024 23:12

Love the eyeshadows but I’m sticking with Elemis marine cream moisturiser

Oakiedoakie · 19/01/2024 01:00

I tried the magic cream, did nothing for me and I didn't like the smell. The eye cream was ok.

whiteshutters · 19/01/2024 01:07

No I didn't like it. My fave is Dior Dreamskin.

I bought the Revolution Miracle cream as a night cream and I love it.

I use tretinoin so my skin gets drier and it's great so far. I like the ingredient list

I've never used the CT one so I can't compare it.

I bought the larger size from Superdrug and my skin was noticeably bouncier and smoother the next day

I have quite sensitive and temperamental skin and it had no negative side effects so that's great for me

It's too rich for me to use as a day cream but that's fine because I have plenty to choose from

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 18/01/2024 18:24

I've got the Bobbi Brown vitamin cream too but I much prefer the Revolution Miracle Cream

They are very similar though. The Bobbi B has a thicker consistency like butter really whereas the miracle cream is not as thick but thicker than most moisturisers.

They both contain Shea butter which is normally an issue for me but not with these 2

They smell quite similar actually but BB has a much stronger smell. Sort of citrusy ish

Anxhor · 19/01/2024 03:59

If you're got the £££ OP I'd be looking at Sisley because their products are outstanding imho

nottaotter · 19/01/2024 04:14

I wasn't impressed there is nothing special in ingredients . I would either go for Sunday Riley or Sisley.
