Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream - any good?

chopinwaltz26 · 18/01/2024 18:01

I am in the market for some face cream soon. I have seen this mentioned a lot recently and wondered if it is worth giving it a try.
I appreciate that it not the cheapest, but currently about half the price of the cream I have been using for the past 3 or so years.
Any experience, advice or opinions welcome.

I have never used her stuff and just use l'oreal as made by lancome and always good deals. What has Charlette done to her face was shocked when saw her on ad on tv.

I seem to be the outlier here but I absolutely love mine. It feels so luxurious when I apply it and my skin feels like silk.

teddybearsbear · 19/01/2024 07:20

I also like the CT but the Revolution miracle cream is lovely definitely recommend trying it for the price it feels lovely and I do feel like my skin is better for it

redheadsaregreat · 19/01/2024 07:26

@Greenbriar @MrsElijahMikaelson1 is the BB vitamin face base a moisturiser? It's labelled a primer. I'm never sure what it is. If it is a moisturiser why do they call it a primer?

Me too! I love how it makes my skin look and feel.

All hype. Not worth the money.

Notevenslightlydamp · 19/01/2024 07:34

It's fine, I like the smell and it feels nice but my face prefers Nivea in the white pot.

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/01/2024 07:35

I like the Magic Water Cream by CT. It's fragrance free. While I love the smell of Magic Cream, I find it a little irritating. I wouldn't be able to afford it usually but DD works for the brand so I get a significant discount. I also agree the Revolution dupe is excellent.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 19/01/2024 07:37

@ElderMillenials somebody actually said to me at work the other day 'you look lovely today your skin is really glowy' and I'd taken a bit more time with my make up and used my magic cream under my foundation , I'm sure that's why!

HighlandCowbag · 19/01/2024 07:41

I like it, use the magic serum as well. I think my skin looks clearer, it feels nice, no dry spots or breakouts and my t zone isn't greasy.

It smells nice, feels luxurious and moisturises. Am not into a million different products tho, and wouldn't know my vit c from isowhatsits or anything else that sounds like it comes from a science lab. I prefer it to cliniques yellow one and no.7 is all I know.

@Greenbriar @MrsElijahMikaelson1
ive been considering that Bobbi Brown skin care product
sounds like it’s good? I’m in my 50s wonder if I’m too old for it !

PegasusReturns · 19/01/2024 09:06

I bought some on a whim at Christmas. It actually makes my face look great and I’ve had loads of compliments on my skin but it’s too drying.

my go to is Elemis pro collagen marine and I’m going back to that

beigerage · 19/01/2024 10:58

CT Magic Cream is a very thick, old-fashioned moisturiser, the sort you have to warm up in your hands before it goes anywhere near your face, and then you have to massage it in quite firmly. I suspect this massaging is part of the 'glow' it imparts. Imagine those backstage videos of 90s catwalk shows, where the MUAs are vigorously removing Kate Moss's makeup, then pummelling more moisturiser on between looks - that's the idea. There's also a disappointing discrepancy between the huge pot and the much smaller reservoir of cream inside the jar.

I mean, it IS good, but only if you've got the kind of skin that needs a heavy dose of moisture. The Revolution Miracle Cream isn't anywhere near as thick, but still gives my dry skin a lovely glow and preps well for make-up.

Goodness me, what a lot of (skin) food for thought.
I was an ardent Clarins user for years until they changed all the formulae and textures.
Have been using Venn products for the past 3 years with good results, but they are difficult to get hold of, online only and €€€.
My granny used to use Pond's Vanishing Cream and she had really beautiful skin, but it was discontinued about 50 years ago.
May just have to trail round the local shops and see what they recommend.

It seems to be marketed as a “moisturising primer”. Apparently “when it launched in 2001, the brand positioned it as a skincare product first—dosed with hyaluronic acid, squalane, and shea butter, plus vitamins B, C, and E—and a makeup product second.” And now it’s become part of the skincare-infused makeup trend.

Basically I use it night and day, and in the daytime it means I don’t have to apply a moisturiser and then a primer. It’s been described as “giving a slight tackiness and nice shine to enhance foundation application and finish.”

A couple of articles where I got the quotes below:

I would say it’s worth a try — I’m 50; it feels quite nourishing and my skin definitely feels smoother with it. A bit expensive but a little goes a long way. You could try asking for a small sample pot if you’re near a Bobbi Brown counter.

Though now I feel like checking out Sunday Riley thanks to posts on here…

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 21/01/2024 10:01

@Custardcreamsandbourbons I would say the Bobbi Brown is a combination of moisturiser and primer. It’s my day time go to, feels lovely, smells Devine.

@Greenbriar try the Sunday Riley CEO-it’s is lush. It’s my night time fix. I have quite dry skin so need some input!

Ponds still sell a version of their vanishing cream:

I like CT's magic cream. I'm not loyal to any moisturiser but it's one I would happily repurchase.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 21/01/2024 15:20

@redheadsaregreat the Bobbi Brown is labelled as an all-in-one moisturiser and primer. It’s not cheap but is absolutely lovely and a little goes a long way. It feels beautiful, smells gorgeous and makes my skin look fresh. Is great under makeup as well

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 21/01/2024 15:24

i liked it but found it a bit thick for use all the time. I now use beauty pie youth bomb repair cream at night and super healthy skin moisturiser for day time with SPF on top
