How important is it to you that your brands are cruelty free

Have recently been checking and frankly horrified how many I've been using that have been tested on animals .. or might have been.

For me this will change.

I only use vegan/cruelty free products. There are so many that there is no excuse not to.

PurpleWhirple · 14/01/2024 23:13

It's not something I consider when choosing products. I'm more interested in their efficacy.

namestevalian · 14/01/2024 23:14

Honestly , it's not

I worry about a lot of other things, have spent most of my life veggie and unfortunately my capacity on causes / boycott is full right now with the stresses of life

Do I care about the suffering of animals ? Yes - I just don't have the energy to go down this "rabbit hole" and change products that have worked well for me for years

Pennyplant19 · 14/01/2024 23:17

It's the most important decision for me when choosing a product.

Crankyaboutfood · 14/01/2024 23:17

It is not hard anymore to make good choices. I have changed as I replace new products and feel really good about it. No need to add to suffering.

PickAChew · 14/01/2024 23:17

I feel the same. I bought some clinique, last year because I knew it was safe on my sensitive skin and I'd yet to find an alternative but would have kept up the hunt for something less petrochemical based if I'd realised they test on animals so they can sell in China.

DearMartha · 14/01/2024 23:17

It's the number one factor for me when choosing products.

whiteroseredrose · 14/01/2024 23:17

It's very important to me. I use products with the leaping bunny or vegan logos. That includes cleaning products, toothpaste and deodorants

MyheartgoingBoomBoomBoom · 14/01/2024 23:17

Absolutely, there is no need for any beauty companies to still be using animal testing when so many don’t.
I avoid all items which are not cruelty free and if anyone gifts me it’s which still test on animals I throw them away.

And I use cruelty free cleaning products too.

Charlie2121 · 14/01/2024 23:18

I’ve never given it a second thought.

PickAChew · 14/01/2024 23:21

You know that throwing somethjng away that has already being bought does nothing to lessen animal suffering, @MyheartgoingBoomBoomBoom . At least donate it to a charity shop or food bank so that it can do more good than ending up in landfill.

sockmuncher · 14/01/2024 23:43

It's not crossed my mind to think about it to be honest.

I'm doing a no makeup year so I'll be using what I have in my collection until it's finished, cruelty free or not. When I start to rebuy I'll prioritise cruelty free.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 14/01/2024 23:44

It's very important and I'm not sure I'm doing enough. Clinique isn't now cruelty free

Marrongrass · 14/01/2024 23:47

By far the most important factor. I don't want to torture and kill just to conform to whatever current beauty standards are!

cattygorically · 15/01/2024 03:26

Very important to me- I have changed pretty much everything over to cruelty free; cleaning products, nail varnish, shampoo etc

NonSequentialRhubarb · 15/01/2024 03:33

It's very important to me where I have a choice. However, I have skin conditions which mean it's very rare I find a cosmetic product that goes on my face that doesn't hurt me. So I choose cruelty free for everything except skincare and face makeup.

AlwaysGinPlease · 15/01/2024 06:55

Sad and very telling of personality type that people don't care. Ignorance is bliss for some clearly. There are very many efficient no harm products.

Tbh, it’s a rare occurrence for me to be given gifts which involve cruelty as most of my friends and family know how I feel about it. But I would still throw it away. I give enough money to charity.
And if I do dispose of any given items, I throw away the contents and recycle the packaging.

Startingagainandagain · 15/01/2024 08:29

I am vegan so only get vegan, cruelty free products.

Absolutely no reason why beauty/grooming products should be tested on animals these days.

Mumofyellows · 15/01/2024 08:31

It's the first thing I check out when buying. I don't care how good the product claims to be, I won't use it if it's tested on animals.

Tatumm · 15/01/2024 08:33

Animal testing is a hard no for me too.

EndOfABook · 15/01/2024 08:34

I’m vegan so it’s very important. I don’t use any products that are not vegan/cruelty free.

Gowlett · 15/01/2024 08:35

I’ve never been thought about it in relation to anything I buy.

Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters · 15/01/2024 08:38

I am still shocked that some people don't even consider it tbh.

It's my number one priority when buying any cosmetics or household cleaning products.

I can't believe that people are so uncaring about the unnecessary torture of animals.

It's so depressing.

AliceMcK · 15/01/2024 08:42

It’s definitely important to me along with non palm oil or at least sustainable palm oil products. I will admit there are times I can’t afford the luxury of making sure everything is as cruelty free as I’d like though. I am noticing far more vegan products which I like.
