Does anyone have FitFlops? They are meant to do the same job as MBTs but are less ugly. Can anyone confirm effectiveness???

I was considering these but I can't part with £130 for a pair of trainers. I'll just have to have a wobbly butt then.

Twiglett · 19/03/2008 07:49

£130

OMG my aching sides

please don't explain the 'technology' .. I may burst

No19 · 19/03/2008 07:51

Thirty-eight pounds.

Yes but I can't wear flip flops to work. I work in a chemical factory and may dissolve a toe without noticing. That would of course make me lighter .

No19 · 19/03/2008 07:57

LOL dissolution of the toes!

Alors, I'll post a profile pic when I've got the thighs of my dreams!

To work.

First of all - What utter trollocks.

But secondly, do they make our legs/calf muscles ache when walking? (cos surely that would be self defeating?)

Not that I'm interested, you understand.....

gscrym · 19/03/2008 08:02

Can't we learn to walk like Masai warriors? I can do that in safety boots. I'm surprised no-one has come out with a workout based on this.

Piffle · 19/03/2008 08:08

Those of you that laugh... Some of us have had aided recovery from debilitating spd and back problems with mbt trainers. Kitty and I specifically. I already have the legs and arse of a moggle you understand.
seriously they save me in osteopathic fees and I bought mine off ebay a lot cheaper;)

Twiglett · 19/03/2008 08:09

sounds good doesn't it ... snake oil through the ages

Twiglett · 19/03/2008 08:12

(and yet I admit to still being interested)

Maidamess · 19/03/2008 08:16

My local health shop stocks a much nicer type of MBT, almost like a dolly style shoe, with a bar across the front. nicer than the lace ups and 'sandals'

Piffle · 19/03/2008 08:18

a proper mbt? Cool a pretty one would be good news

Maidamess · 19/03/2008 08:21

not exactly pretty They were in a natural colour and a darkish brown, but better than the lace ups I think!

Twiglett · 19/03/2008 08:24

so any thoughts on how to divorce the scornful anti-marketing drivel side of my brain from the "I want some" side?

BoysOnToast · 19/03/2008 09:20

pmsl twig. am loving your 2 sides battling

i ran the 5k run for life thingy in mine when they were new last yr. i ddi no trainign whatsoever, and then the day f the race came and i didnt have any other trainers, so mbts it was. i think they actually helped, what with the rocking rhythm an all... bloody near died mind you. sheer bloody minded determination got me through, just.

i am scornful of them working too... but im still wearing them, right now as it happens.

bran · 19/03/2008 09:28

I have a pair of Earth boots and they have definitely toned up my legs and bum. In fact my bum is now too small and I miss it (as does my dh ). However I do have noticeably untoned inner thighs now, I'll have to actually do some exercises or something.

It's definitely harder work to walk in them, and I can't walk as fast as I can in trainers. Because the heel is lower down you have to push forward harder to roll your foot forward.

kittywise · 19/03/2008 09:31

Bloody hell a 5k run in mbt's? Hats of to you boysontoast!

Twig I don't give two or even three hoots about any hype/advertising. They work and that's all I need to know.

Right I've got 6 six kids and my au pair has had to return home and < full of self- pity emoticon> so I'm buggered and should not be spending time on here discussing a hideously priced but rather good shoe.............. and so to work....................

BeauLocks · 19/03/2008 09:35

I am a gadget girl. You name it, I have it. I love my MBTs and my fit flops. You do need to make sure the fitflops fit you properly though - my mate bought a pair that were a size too big () and kept falling over. Doh.

No19 · 19/03/2008 09:41

Six children KW no wonder you have toned legs! Respeck.

Yeah and I have a rather special and much cherished relationship with various sorts of alcohol

Twiglett · 19/03/2008 11:19

of course you give 'two hoots' about advertising otherwise you wouldn't have bought them in the first place to find out if they work or not .. even if you just saw them on a leaflet / flyer / POS instore that's advertising

kittywise · 19/03/2008 11:27

Nah twig, it was my dad who got me into them!!!

I just bought a pair, I came back to see just how scathing I've been in the past .. yup pretty scathing, but allowed myself a glimmer of being allowed to buy them

I have worn them for about 15 mins walking .. I leaned towards DD at the table and felt an excruciating pain across middle back .. like a twang .. could this be related or just coincidence?
