Supportive slippers?

soupfiend · 08/01/2024 21:55

I need to keep my feet warm, I keep getting white toes and pain, I get cold feet easily

I need something that is sheepskin, I dont like man made fibres

But I have achillies tendonitis and over prononation and dodgy knees etc so in all my shoes I have orthotic insoles and cant wear shoes (or slippers) that dont have a back to them, I cant wear anything that sort of pulls away from my foot

I got some cheap slippers in Asda tonight, little bootie types that look like sheepskin, out of desparation because of the cold. But as Im walking around the house I can feel it pulling the tendons in the centre of my sole and I dont want to cause plantar fasciitus

So I need something with a sort of back but at the same time I found these bootie types really difficult to get my foot into, I need something I can just slip on and off without having to sit down and tug the things on but not something that has no back at all. And these booties are not comfortable at all, too flat I think

If that makes sense.

Fit flop.

Snap Petunia!

Yes I have Fiftfop ones too (Chrissie in my case) and they are brilliant. Slip on but stay on and have properly supportive soles. I have had the same pair for two years and had another pair before that.

RampantIvy · 09/01/2024 10:37

What is the sizing like? I need supportive slippers as well.

ZaZathecat · 09/01/2024 10:37

I wear arch support insoles inside my UGG knock-off style slippers and that works for me

Trickedbyadoughnut · 09/01/2024 10:41

I have just ordered Skechers slippers with memory foam - they're fleecy and got a back, but they're not exactly boots so I'm hoping I can slip them on and off easily. I have the same problems as you and wear Fitflops and Birkenstocks in summer but am balking at the price. Still, if the Skechers aren't right, I may have to suck it up and get the Fitflop slippers.

These look very interesting thank you

Do you know if the back has a little back, or is it no back at all, I cant tell because of the fur

I like birkenstock but want somethning that I can just slip my foot into more or less, also with thick house socks on, and those look like I'd be bending over and tussling with to get on

I have similar problems (Raynauds and dodgy joints) and I love my Fitflop Chrissie shearling slippers. I got them in the sale for £40. They're warm, soft and supportive.
You could also look at Vionic. They do slippers with proper arch support.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/01/2024 18:40

Get whatever sheepskin boots you want (mine are from Celtic and still going strong on their 13th winter.) and put support insoles in?

LG93 · 09/01/2024 20:08

Another vote for fitflops. I have the Chrissie slippers and they have genuinely been life-changing for my plantar fascitis. Walking around the house barefoot before meant that I was in near enough constant pain, wearing these any time I'm not wearing my shoes makes a massive difference. I really notice it if I go to someone's house and take my shoes off, my feet start to hurt really very quickly

caffelattetogo · 09/01/2024 20:10

Have you tried mahabis? Mine have lasted years.

NannyGythaOgg · 09/01/2024 20:47

In many ways, easy to slip on and supportive do not go together.
I'd like the same but I don't think they exist.
My way round it has been to get 2 or 3 long handled show horns (I've had mine a while and they were £1 from IKEA but think you will have to pay more now). I keep 1 in my bedroom, one by the front door and one in my lounge. It means I can slip structured slippers, trainers etc on with ease and know that they will support my fit and not slip off.

I get very cold feet and have flare ups of plantar fasciitis, these are the best I’ve found:

granted they aren’t natural fibres, but they are soft underfoot, supportive round the back and easy to get on and off. They’re the closest I’ve found for a much better price tag than many others.

lovecafeaulait · 09/01/2024 21:39

I am exactly the same, I love to wear at home slippers with structure, warm that I can slip on and off. All these boxes ticked by Haflingers, the Grizzly style. Sole is like Birkenstocks and upper is made of felt wool. I wear mine with thick socks. They also have a version lined with sheepskin.

They usually last for at least 3-4 years. Only downside that the style I like with the cork sole can't be washed. I wipe them with a wet cloth. I also find that buying them in grey or beige is better as any dust won't show 😂.

Sizing is just like Birkenstock and I usually find them on Amazon or here www.shoegarden.co.uk/search?q=TORBEN&type=product

I used to always recommend Mahabis for this, and my older pairs lasted years with no problems. But my last two pairs have both fallen apart in a really short time which is not really acceptable with at their price point. The latest have come unglued in less than 5 weeks!
