Who is the target audience and why? The soles look positively mouldy.

Is this the kickback against the box fresh trend? But instead of just dirtying your £22 trainers yourself by running through the woods like we did in the 90s, you pay Adidas hundreds to do it for you 😂

I've actually been expecting the pendulum to swing back for a while now. Boxfresh has been in a long time. Didn't see this specific product coming, mind. I wish I'd had the foresight to set up a shoe muddying business in advance!

OMG I remember back in the early 2000s when destroyed converse where the rage - I brought a new pair and buried them in the back garden LOL. My Dad was APPALLED.

I can imagine my dad's face if I'd done that. I think I'd be disinherited.

I wonder if you could sell them at a premium to used footwear fetishists.

I had these same shoes come up as an ad for me too and I couldn't believe they were real!

slackademic · 04/01/2024 14:09

Damn! I wished I'd kept those trainers my incontinent cat crapped in - what a fool - I could have had them up on ebay for at least a ton.

oakleaffy · 04/01/2024 14:52

Heck, for a small fee £20 I could wear new clean trainers 👟 for people on a dog walk and save them some 💰 money.

I can get them really grubby in this wet weather!

Stop giving them ideas, @SuitYouSir
That sounds too much of a money spinner!
Corner the market with brown paint 🎨 yourself.

The Emperors New Clothes.

A long-running in-joke by the fashion industry to see what is the cruddiest piece of shit they can persuade some brainless fashion victim to part with $$ for.

(IMO)

I agree completely.

Balenciaga baggy jeans, anyone? 😮🙄

kitsuneghost · 04/01/2024 17:03

To be fair I am more likely to wear them than some of the £180 hobbs et al mum boots you see posted all the time.

I came on to say I love the jeans then realised the stickers are intentional...for that price, surely they think we are idiots!

BlowDryRat · 04/01/2024 17:41

Like I'm going to pay over £1k to have kind strangers stopping me all day to point out I'd left the sticker on my jeans!

Another one who was gonna mention golden goose. Some golden goose is amazing but some is bloody hideous. I would love some golden goose but way out my price range.

I don't like trainers but I like these- not £485 enough of liking. I like the deliberate, toned down scruffiness of these. I've got summer dresses I would wear these with. I wouldn't pay £485 but £85? Would consider it.

They're far less ridiculous than these jeans. At least they are still fit for purpose as shoes. I don't like them but I don't like box fresh gleaming white trainers either. If I were forced to wear trainers and the choices were only a ginormous pair of gleaming white "box fresh" or these I'd take these.

Ridiculous jeans 1

A whole page of ridiculous jeans

Imagine trying to put them on - my feet would keep going through the wrong hole!

BluesandClues · 04/01/2024 21:27

Does anyone actually buy these things? I’m always wondering this.

WhichEllie · 04/01/2024 23:18

I’ve noticed the late teens/early 20s girls in the US have been wearing deliberately dirty trainers this year. As in, clearly brand new with little wear but they’ve purposefully rubbed dirt into them or stained them with tea or whatever. It seems to take about 12 months for trends to make their way over here so keep an eye out for teenagers stealthily massaging mud into their new trainers in the garden. 😂

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/01/2024 23:35

I’d be looking for second hand. My 15 yo wants to buy some well worn dirtied up Nike AF1 from vinted for about £20. I’ve said no thus far.

Gross. If they do end up with a pair, get in some of that Scholl antibacterial / antifungal shoe spray. It's asking for trouble otherwise 🤢

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 07/01/2024 16:37

I have seen a few companies now doing trainers that look like they lost a game of Jumanji.

It's not a look I can get behind, I can buy cheap ones and make them look like that very quickly if I wanted.

Redpeonies · 07/01/2024 16:59

Five star rating of course!
