Best jeans. Do they exist?

I’m in my forties and still haven’t found ‘the ones!’
Surely they are out there somewhere?

5.7” Pear shape.

I just want a good pair of bloody jeans! Ideally dark blue, would like to turn them up & wear with boots (converse in the summer). Not skinny but not mum jeans either (they do nothing fit my mid-riff). Would like them to come up to my actual waist & not low slung (no one needs to see that!) Get better with age.

Point me in the right direction if you’ve found the perfect jeans! Thank you

7 for All Mankind, J Brand, Nudie, Citizens of Humanity are all brands I’ve had great jeans from.

Perfectlystill · 23/12/2023 22:50

I like Paige, Agolde, and Gap jeans.

uhtredsonofuhtred1 · 23/12/2023 23:01

I've recently discovered Stradivarius jeans on ASOS and I can't wait to buy more styles and colours as they fit me beautifully. I've bought Levi's (disappointing!), wrangler, Diesel, M&S, Next and Tesco F&F and my favourite out of those aside from Stradivarius is Tesco

ChristmasinBurrRidge · 23/12/2023 23:34

Levis and 7 for All Mankind consistently are the best fit for my shape

CaramelEmporium · 23/12/2023 23:40

Next Slim Lift & Shape in slim fit.
High waisted, bit of stretch, incredibly flattering IMO but I agree with a PP, it’s so individual.

christmaspawpaws · 23/12/2023 23:41

M&S magic I really like
Used to love next hypercurve but of course they stopped making them

Rina66 · 24/12/2023 00:55

Agree with the M & S Lily, good colour, flattering shape, decent weight denim to be comfortable but not too stiff, great colour range which changes with the seasons.

Apple2023 · 24/12/2023 01:47

Another vote for Levi’s.

bouncydog · 24/12/2023 07:03

And another Levi’s lover here in mid 60’s! I love that they do lots of different shapes and fits. I’m usually an 8 but Levi’s also do a 9 which is great over Christmas! I often buy them from Amazon as prices are often better than High Street.

Levis are my favourite. I don't get the love for M&S jeans tbh. I tried them but they just look a bit sad and not very stylish.

I think it depends on your figure. I have M and S Lily jeans and they look better on me than other brands. I like Levis but I hate button fly jeans.

You are right. They didn't suit my figure. Even though they fitted in the legs, there was too much extra material at the stomach. Not all Levis have button flies. I only have them on my Ribcage and 501's.

AlphaB3tty · 24/12/2023 07:35

The best jeans I ever bought was when I was in America. Levis and Lucky Brand. Also due to how they size clothing out there compared to UK it makes you feel better in a smaller size 😉😁.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/12/2023 07:43

I used to love Next jeans, but their 'mid rise' comes up higher than my naval! I hate high waisted jeans, and have no idea where to get jeans that come to about an inch below my naval. That's leaving aside getting them to fit elsewhere!

Gherkingreen · 24/12/2023 07:50

I swear by M&S boyfriend jeans rolled up in spring/summer and I'm currently in a cast-off pair of my DSs old jeans - Next men's super soft straight leg/slim - they're incredible, why did I never try men's jeans before?! I'm 5ft 10 pear-ish, s14 lower with weight in hips/thighs.

RampantIvy · 24/12/2023 07:54

Doesn't the waist gape on you @Gherkingreen?

Harper Cigarette Jeans from M&S.

maldivemoment · 24/12/2023 08:12

@whatsthatinyourhand i looked at those but that big pleat/crease down the front put me off. Does it iron out after a wash?

Once again. Thanks all. Definitely glad I started this thread..👍🏻

I also find Lily jeans from M & S , as other post says, they are straight leg and high waisted. Im a size 16 and 5 ft 10, and the long size is good for me. I believe the lengths they offer are small, medium, long and extra long. They are £29.99 I believe, which okay they are not top brand, but I had my 3 pairs for over a year, and wash well and keep their shape. I also take as many pairs available on the rail in my size into the changing rooms as I find all brands can differ, .i.e. a bit tight around waist , or not quite the same fit, or longer just a tad, varying very .little, but make all the difference to me!

Princessfluffy · 24/12/2023 08:42

I avoid jeans with stretch in.
I find pure cotton denim a lot more comfortable to wear and they last a lot longer too. My current faves are from Nobody's Child.

RampantIvy · 24/12/2023 09:18

I'm finding it more difficult to find jeans without strecth these days.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/12/2023 09:56

Another Levi’s fan here. I’m favouring a baggy jean at the moment and like the 90s 501 and “baggy dad”. The staff tend to be super helpful if you can get to a store - they’ll recommend/bring sizes and washes to the fitting room, and you can get alts done in the shop if you need them. (I had some taken up and was about a week’s wait, free of charge.)

Ponks · 24/12/2023 10:02

I tried the M&S Harper jeans and they were super comfortable and looked good but the turn up is sewn up which I didn't like.

EllaPaella · 24/12/2023 11:24

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I often get my
Jeans adjusted by my local dress maker sk they are a perfect fit. Definitely worth doing, especially if you've spent a bit on a decent pair. An extra £15 to have them tailored to fit perfectly is worth it every time.

motherofgodhaudyerwheesht · 24/12/2023 11:37

Astonished no one has mentioned Uniqlo high rise jeans
5ft 6 pear shape here. I buy the skinny but other cuts available.
The high rise is perfect. The lined ones are amazing in winter.
Brilliant value and often on sale too. Full range of blues, plus other colours.
Absolutely worth a try, op.

I never buy jeans online. As I don't live anywhere near a Uniqlo I will not be able to buy from them.
