Earmuffs-would you wear them as an adult?

When I’ve done my hair I don’t want to put a hat on…so I was wondering about earmuffs for warmth. Would you wear them? Or do you think they look too childish for adults?
If you do wear them, are they actually effective?
Thank you!

Yes - I have ones that have earphones built in. Toasty warm without being too warm or headachy which I get with a hat, and don’t get blown off like a coat hood. Mine are fleecey and flat so perhaps less noticeable than some?
(but I’m old and comfort marginally pips style)

I don't wear earmuffs, I wear a wool hat.
But I have a good friend who is 40 years old, and she wears earmuffs in the winter, grey fluffy ones. She prefers them over a hat, and she looks great in them.

I used to wear the over-the-head-fluffy-type when I was young but graduated to less obtrusive behind-the-neck-ear-warmers when I got older. Yes, they do make a difference in cold or windy weather.

I got a couple of pairs in different colours from Flying Tiger but that was years ago and I don't know if they still stock them.

Similar to this:

If you have long hair you can wear the neckband underneath your hair, unlike the model in the photo.

Thanks everyone! Thank you all for your suggestions and thoughts, it’s good to know they work. Maybe I will borrow my daughter’s to try them out!
I’m also interested in the ones with built in earphones, I may have a look at those too. Are there any brands I should look out for?

I do. I love my earmuffs. I have short hair and no protection from the wind at all. I never considered that adults don't wear them! I'm in my 40s.

fancyfrogs · 21/12/2023 14:59

I got some this year and love them! Have always disliked hats and so I find them much better

ActuallyChristmas · 21/12/2023 15:01

Relative sent photo of her wearing some somewhere snowy. Looked good

I do. DH bought me real sheepskin ones years ago and they are so warm without giving me a hot , sweaty head/hair.
