I think I’d choose the Ice Crystals because they have a dark color at the bottom which won’t show mud like those with the lighter bottom part.

Yoyoyo1 · 30/11/2023 17:35

Are the sorel ones quite light as don't like heavy boots?

PedantScorner · 30/11/2023 17:43

@Yoyoyo1 , Shop Women's Snow Boots | SOREL® (sorelfootwear.co.uk). They're not heavy.

@Muddybooties , I have some Mountain Warehouse hiking boots and they're fine. Probably not the best looking but they do the job

Muddybooties · 30/11/2023 17:54

@PedantScorner

Mountain warehouse they will wear a few years fine, yes sorel are pretty… but it’s the longevity - my last pair I’m only replacing now after 13yrs and only due to discolouration on the front of one boot (which was entirely my fault), they’re really good value and same style sold 15yrs later!!

Mirabai · 30/11/2023 18:06

Tundra. The first ones look really cheap.

PedantScorner · 30/11/2023 18:07

@Muddybooties , I have a pair of Sorel boots. I can't fault them.

Mongrelsrbeautiful · 30/11/2023 18:20

Tundra look more expensive and netter for walking/not slipping

WhichIsItWendy · 30/11/2023 18:31

Tundra, but I prefer a casual look

rookiemere · 30/11/2023 18:57

Ice Crystal but both are good.

SwedishEdith · 30/11/2023 19:02

My only criteria would be whether I could walk and not slip on ice/impacted snow. On that basis, the second pair look like they have better soles.

Sunriseatsix · 30/11/2023 19:18

I just bought the Tundra. Really warm as the fleece goes all the way down. I recommend them.

atthebottomofthehill · 30/11/2023 19:45

Tundra look good.

Sorel are not what they used to be, the quality has declined. They're very heavy and inflexible too.

I prefer Olang, really warm and light.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/11/2023 19:54

Tundra, the fur on the ice crystal ones will look tatty very quickly.

For that price though, I'd look at the Sorel Black Friday sale.

DoubleTime · 30/11/2023 19:59

I like the Tundra ones

Luminousalumnus · 30/11/2023 20:05

If you really are going to be out in the snow or even icy mud, do you honestly want to be pissing about with soggy fur and wet laces? Id get some zip up or even pull on ones from Decathlon.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 30/11/2023 20:20

NectarinesAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 30/11/2023 13:53

I think Ice Crystal are prettier, but I suspect they will look tatty more quickly.

ithinkmyheadiscavingin · 30/11/2023 21:32

I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a boot from Mountain Warehouse. There are many better brands and boots.

HarryOHayandBettyOBarley · 30/11/2023 21:36

The first probably. The second look 'functional'.

Have you looked at Sorel? They have nicer ones.

AndWordsWhen · 30/11/2023 23:40

Are they for skiing? If they are I'd say neither as you are better off with something much softer and more flexible after a day in ski boots.

Fraaahnces · 01/12/2023 04:00

I thought I would share some photos of some Sorel boots from the UK website.

I have had some Sorel Glacy boots (knee high and short ones) for more than 10 years. They’re stylish (still), warm, very waterproof and like wearing the most comfortable sneakers ever. I have walked miles daily in them most years while taking my giant dog out walking and I have a connective tissue disorder, so need supportive shoes that don’t hurt my feet. My only issue was that they had crappy traction on ice. The new ones have an entirely different sole, and get better reviews. I live in Aus and am I am moving next year to a much colder, mountainous environment than where I live now and I am waiting for the Sorel Kinetic Impact Puffy Zip (they are in the photo with three sneakers on top rhs) in black or green to go on sale, because where I’m going is notorious for being very icy and I want something super easy to slip on and off while walking to and from work. (Shifts)

If you check reviews, they’re all good. Just see what they say about sizing. Some definitely need you to go up a size.

Some of the Sorel boots have weird soles.
They remind me of the shoes Vans sued someone over, The Wavy Baby, I'll put a picture for anyone that's never seen them.

They're kinda funky and I don't know if I like them.
I don't like the large white branding on the bottom of the soles though, they're just waiting for me to slip on my arse and advertise for them.. 🤣

Which snow boots do you prefer?
Fraaahnces · 01/12/2023 09:26

Each to their own. I like them because I have tricky feet. I would wear them 24/7 if I lived somewhere with an appropriate climate.

Yoyoyo1 · 01/12/2023 14:35

Thanks all.

ManateeFair · 01/12/2023 15:03

I like the Ice Crystal ones - they're both nice but I prefer the black and tan of the Ice Crystal ones to the brown of the Tundra ones.

I have no real need for snow boots but somehow I now really want some 😂

PrimalLass · 01/12/2023 15:12

Same!
