Armpits smell

Slightly embarrassing, I've always been hot and sweaty. But now, even if I'm not sweating, I'm finding my armpits smell. Even after showering!

I put Mitchum gel on at night, the antiperspirant spray in the morning and double cleanse in the shower, the first being an antibacterial soap.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of things to try please?!

I have this issue as well. Very embarrassing. I did a deep dive on this topic some years ago to find solutions. I tried all kinds of natural remedies like lemon juice but none of them worked for long. Some things help but not in isolation, they all have to be used. More obvious solutions are to continue using Mitchum. I've never used Perspirex because it sounds quite harsh but it might be the same as Mitchum. Not sure. Wash your clothes regularly! Like every time you wear them if you can smell an odour. Exfoliate your pits - glycolic acid works best. This removes dead skin and deo build up. Don't overdo it as that can cause a reaction which will just worsen the situation in the long run. Avoid clothes that are tight around the pits. Avoid synthetic fabrics. I know that's hard with the the number of polycotton/synthetic garments nowadays. But, familiarize yourself with fabrics and go for natural fibers like cotton and wool because they don't 'trap' heat in your pits. Drink (much) more water to flush out toxins and generally try to eat more healthily. I do think alcohol, meat, garlic and onions worsen BO but I'm not about give those up! When I lived in certain parts of Asia where many are vegetarian or pescatarian I found they had no BO! Do you think it's stress related? I definitely sweat less at the weekends/on vacay than I do when I'm at work. So much so that when I'm not at work I can use a gentle, natural deo just to give my body a break from the harsh chemicals in Mitchum. Also, the reason we have BO is interesting in that it's the bacteria not the sweat that causes it. Which means you'll have to shower more regularly than most, I'm afraid.

I feel for you OP, since menopause I have had the same problem. Its never wetness, just smell.. Have used Dettol soap for years, have tried Perspirex, Driclor, Wild, Fussy, Mitchum and more. Also tried antibacterial hand stuff after washing. The smell can be retained in clothes, which smell clean after washing, but it seems that body heat can reactivate the stink. Before washing clothes I treat all my pit areas by spraying with a mix of vinegar, Dettol laundry stuff, bicarb, and have tried many combinations of this. Still not on top of it, and just awaiting a Pitrok stick. Will try glycolic acid too. Good luck in finding a solution OP.

I find clothes that 'line' your armpits make a huge difference. By this I mean wear something like a cotton t-shirt that sits up into your armpit rather than a lower cut vest top that goes nowhere near your armpit.

A natural fabric 'liner' wicks moisture and heat away. Whereas if your armpit area is just skin against skin, that can counter-intuitively make it hotter and sweatier.

I find fabrics like cotton, rayon and viscose are fine, but anything with polyester and nylon is grim. There's something about polyester that seems to weirdly create smells where there were none before :S

I know this sounds nuts, but ehat sort of milk do you use?
If I use non-organic milk, my pits absolutely stink. With organic milk I'm 'normal'.
Occasionally my husband will buy some non-organic milk and if I don't notice, all of us will know within an hour!

Hi just joined -I had a really bad excessive sweat problem but also, on the back of that, the smelly armpits too. I now use Perspi guard, have done for years, never after shaving -wait 12 hours- but it has absolutely stopped any issue. I think the roll ons I was using were causing a build up which was stopping sweat evaporating but tbh I don't much care the reasons as literally overnight my issues stopped. I understand OP you have a smell rather than sweat level issues but removing the need to use roll ons, by using perspi guard once a week-10 days might also help your issue. Very best of luck xx I should add I will wash my armpits each day-in shower/bath but just with normal body wash at same time as rest of body
