The white or black/white ones? Please can you tell me which look less likely to be mutton dressed as lamb... (I'm 42) lol 😆

Black and white

Mayhemmumma · 19/11/2023 14:22

White

RandomUsernameHere · 19/11/2023 14:38

The black and white ones if mainly wearing them in winter. The white ones I would prefer for summer.

GonnaNeedABiggerBag · 19/11/2023 14:39

You’re the target market for Sketchers. They’re not worn by older teens / twenty somethings. Either are fine.

jackstini · 19/11/2023 14:41

What will you be wearing them with and where

I have similar to the white ones I bought for walking round New York and Orlando and they were very comfortable

I'm 51 so 17 yo dd says I'm allowed to wear them as I'm old! 🤣

TotalOverhaul · 19/11/2023 14:44

I have white Skechers but I keep them for summer, so the B&W ones. I love them and have no idea why people think they are less stylish than other brands of trainers. They are like walking on air.

I'll be wearing them on the school run with white Adidas sports socks and leggings /joggers, plus maybe my Ted Baker parka coat. I actually think that one prefer black trainers in the winter when it's muddier and more likely to get ruined. The white ones are great but they as i want to wear them now, I'm more concerned with them getting dirty quicker.

You won’t be mutton as sketchers are for little kids and old people.

platinumplus · 19/11/2023 15:15

Both are horrific

I've got the black & white pair and had them ages, really hard wearing. my fav is the navy and white version as I wear more navy but they've stopped making them 😞

RampantIvy · 19/11/2023 15:30

platinumplus · 19/11/2023 15:15

Both are horrific

In what way? They don't look significantly different in style to other brands of trainer or any that are on trend.

IMO most trainers look pretty similar except for the logos.

Mystro202 · 19/11/2023 15:31

Love the white ones & I'm not far from your age 😉

LadyPoncenbyFroglett · 19/11/2023 15:31

The white ones!

Actually my son is early 20s and he wears his slide in skechers pretty much all the time - and his friends now want some as well. He also has black Skechers work shoes. Their new ranges are proving popular with his age group.

RampantIvy · 19/11/2023 15:33

DD is 23 and wears Skechers for work as she is on her feet all day.

So does my DD26, in white. OP I prefers the white pair.

Coffeeandchristmascake · 19/11/2023 15:36

White, most definitely

LadyPoncenbyFroglett · 19/11/2023 15:37

And ha at the poster calling them horrific, perhaps you need a good cup of strong tea. They're just a fairly basic and decent looking, contemporary pair of trainers.
Perhaps you'd prefer the OP to purchase a new pair each month to keep ahead of trends, to stand out, buy more shit, etc? Who on earth over the age of 18 possesses such anxiety about whether something is on trend or not? Not in the real world, lol. These forums are awash with spite and put downs. At least try harder.

NooNooHead1981 · 19/11/2023 15:38

Thanks for the kind (and more honest, less kind!) replies too.

I'm at the age where I'm ok with being slightly less fashionable, as I've lived with a medication induced neurological involuntary movement disorder called tardive dyskinesia that is a bit like Tourette's and Parkinson's disease combined, for the past 9 years... when you have weird involuntary movements of your face and body, then you become a bit more confident with wearing stuff that nobody else would 😉 I've been to hell and back with my disorder to be honest, and find it a lot easier to not give a crap about appearances as much 😆🤣😉

Of course adults care about whether things are on trend. I'm a keen follower of fashion as are many of my friends. Why do you think that only people under 18 follow fashion?

I expect @LadyPoncenbyFroglett's post is in reference to the many posts I have read on mumsnet where posters are extremely rude about other people's less fahionable choices (to them anyway) in footwear.

Trainer threads have got quite heated. IMO if you removed the logos from trainers people wouldn't be so snooty about brands like Skechers or similar.

kitsuneghost · 19/11/2023 16:19

Gosh. So much ageism in trainer form. So weird
I wear Skechers Nike and new balance as I have broad feet not because I got a list of approved suppliers in a birthday card.

I like the black. I wear them a lot. White would just look filthy all the time.
