I am 61. Was bought up to think looks were very important. Struggled greatly with growing old. Now finally accepting it is what it is. By comparison with the alternative it’s fine.
This is what 61 looks like. Many of my friends look their own version of this and do you know what? It’s ok. I can look at younger women and admire their beauty.

You both look great

This brought a tear to my eyes, lovely to see positivity and self happiness

50plusandfabulous · 19/11/2023 13:24

Well I think you both look really lovely x

BlueGrey1 · 19/11/2023 13:25

@Eyesopenwideawake

thanks for replying

I suppose some people can get away without it (HRT) and some people won’t, it’s hard to know at 48 whether I will be one of those people.

You look very healthy for someone who up until recently smoked quite a lot and also is in the sun, you are lucky

Deliadidit · 19/11/2023 13:32

You both look lovely and it’s so good to see you accepting your age and how you look.

I’m 52 and my Mother at my age was obsessed with how she was aging, used Lancôme all her life, before anti aging creams really hit off and was ecstatic if somebody thought she looked younger than her years.

I am the total opposite. Happy in my skin, I am 52 and thats ok! I am pretty accepting of the changes to my face and body. Would never dream of fillers or Botox, surgery. All the usual, eat well, sleep well and regular exercise.

You both look great

Thanks for sharing😀

spuddel · 19/11/2023 13:47

You both look beautiful, healthy, happy and full of vitality! Gorgeous.

SunshineAutumnday · 19/11/2023 14:23

thank you, you both look very happy and lovely skin.

I'm 51, am also happy in my skin. And hoping I dont go down the botox/fillers route.. am I'm too skint, lazy and don't know the full effects it has on our skin.

ChrisPriss · 19/11/2023 14:38

You both look lovely!
Somedays I really hate my old and flabby face and body - other days I'm so grateful that I'm still here!

coxesorangepippin · 19/11/2023 14:41

You look great

TheRosesAreInBloom · 19/11/2023 14:45

Looking fabulous ladies 😀

Tulipblank · 19/11/2023 14:47

What a wonderful post. You both look amazing, and very happy in your own skin. Just how it should be.

lunaticfringer · 19/11/2023 14:50

You are both beautiful. I hope I look as naturally beautiful when I get older!

BatwomansRevenge · 19/11/2023 19:51

Love this post - I've just scrolled through the whole thread hoping that some other similar-aged people would post glowy, happy photos to inspire the rest of us. You both look great.

Iamthisage · 19/11/2023 19:59

@BatwomansRevenge

what a great idea.

please ladies do post.

we are valid and a wonderful part of society.

My pic was 5 mins after I had woken up. Rubbish nights sleep.
It wasn’t my finest hour but it was real

You both still look great.

I lost a sibling in their 30s. To grow older is a blessing not enjoyed by all.

Sorry for your loss. Similar here. My sister died at 27 (I was 28). I'm now 56 and when I start getting stupidly down about looking 'old', I just remind myself how lucky I am to be here.

And I agree. You both look wonderful.

Meggie90 · 19/11/2023 20:59

You both look absolutely beautiful 🙂

NonWiredNancy · 19/11/2023 22:13

Ah, this is a lovely thread. You both look fantastic!

LunaTheCat · 19/11/2023 22:25

You are both beautiful… happiness shines through and that’s what counts.
I am 59 now…happy in my skin.

Disturbia81 · 19/11/2023 22:30

You are beautiful! Men do NOT age better, I don't understand that at all.

WingingItSince1973 · 19/11/2023 23:00

I absolutely agree with others. You both look gorgeous and if I looked half as good as you do in 10 years (I'm 50) I would be very happy. I also lost a sibling 17 years ago he was just 28. It was brutal and totally unexpected so I too try and remember to be thankful for being able to grow older. Though I do fight the wrinkles too 😂

Rainingagainonasynday · 19/11/2023 23:02

Both look fabulous!

WingingItSince1973 · 19/11/2023 23:08

I'm being brave and very outing if anyone recognised me! I took this pic yesterday to show my friend I've dyed my hair!!! A few years ago I had super long hair but was feeling frumpy so I took the courage and did something I've always wanted to do and shave it all off!!! Well a very close shave. Then I bleached it blonde! Now every year I'm blonde for the summer and brown or red for the winter 😂 I felt so good inside getting rid of all the hair. I was hiding behind it and now there's no hiding. I struggle with my mental health and have had such a rollercoaster life and now my physical health is plummeting to the point I've applied for a blue badge 😬 I've struggled big time with turning 50 for many reasons but as I've said in my other post my brother died age 28 and I'm trying to be grateful for every day ❤️

@WingingItSince1973

You have fabulous skin!
the short hair also really suits you,

TheAbsurd · 20/11/2023 07:46

Fabulous hair @WingingItSince1973!

WingingItSince1973 · 20/11/2023 12:38

Aw thank you. I do cut and colour it myself. I'm sure hairdressers must spot me and cringe but I can't afford the real deal at the mo. 😂😂😂😂
