Please help! It feels like I've tried everything. Coconut oil hasn't worked, Palmers solid stuff hasn't worked. Any recommendations? TIA

I find the body shop body butters really good. They're much more moisturising than the lotions I find. They're very thick but rub in well.

I am by no means an authority on skin care though!

Hearmenow23 · 15/11/2023 06:16

I use Garnier intensive 7 days. I think the key is consistency for me. I use it every day.

Teapot32 · 15/11/2023 06:18

I got epaderm cream from the doctors and I swear it’s a miracle cream! It doesn’t smell fancy but my god is it good!

Wrote that it feels like I've tried everything and each of you suggested something I haven't yet tried Grin Thank you

Dr suggested aveeno cream for me and they do a shower lotion as well which seems to work well.

Rainingagainonasynday · 15/11/2023 10:40

Yes you need to do it every single day, I find if I miss just two then it all goes to pot again

TheLongRider · 15/11/2023 10:44

Are you exfoliating your legs before you put on moisturiser? You need to get rid of the dead skin first otherwise the moisturiser can't penetrate.

I'm not talking about scrubbing yourself raw, just a gentle rub with something scrubby in the shower.

Same here, I moisturise every day on damp skin after the shower.

I used to have terrible itchy and dry skin on my lower legs from trousers/tights (tights under trousers because I can't stand the cold!). Completely sorted now!

I was going to say this too. It's a recent realisation for me! Dry body brushing before I get in the shower is working well for me.

Aveeno. I have terrible dry skin on my legs and this sorts it out.

INeedNewShoes · 15/11/2023 11:03

Aveeno skin relief

I've had very dry eczema all my life and have used various different products over the years. Aveeno skin relief (Aveeno have lots of different ranges but 'skin relief' is the most moisturising) has been a miracle for me!

cbuew9 · 15/11/2023 11:06

Another one here recommending Aveeno - it's amazing!

Saxendi · 15/11/2023 11:13

I saw this recommended and it's completely transformed my skin, not glamorous but works!

Epaderm, which you can get on prescription, is good but Aveeno is better. Skin relief moisturising hand cream or moisturising cream for dry and sensitive skin are the best for me. Nivea cream works when my skin is not so dry.
The main thing is to use it regularly. Twice a day keeps things under control.

Fannyfiggs · 15/11/2023 11:16

Exfoliate your legs once a week, dry brush them twice a week and use O'Keefe's skin relief and repair intensive cream every day.

I've used Aveeno, CeraVe, Eucerin and many more but the O'Keefe's is the best one by miles. You can get it on Amazon for just over £7.00. It's the same company that does the working hands hand cream in the green jar/tin.

Tidypidy · 15/11/2023 11:18

I use cheap and cheerful aqueous cream. Use it in shower instead of soap and slather on after. Gently apply in it downwards direction only to avoid more irritation.

stardust777 · 15/11/2023 17:14

Have you tried a shower oil?

Love this one from Bioderma

Cleethorpes · 15/11/2023 18:59

E45 shower cream and Cerave moisturiser. Advised to try this by my dermatologist and it's worked a treat!

Thingamebobwotsit · 15/11/2023 19:03

Coconut oil and Palmers both make my skin worse. Body Shop Shea Body butter is good, but I am currently using Nivea So Soft which is much cheaper and that seems to be working well. Might try Aveeno though when this runs out.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/11/2023 19:28

Dry brushing with a soft brush first, bath/shower with any of Sanex/Eucerin/Oilatum/Bioderm, then Nivea if I'm in a hurry and need to put tights on, Zeroderm Ointment if not.

Add in urea scalp lotion and Retinol cream/urea cream couple of times a week and this mostly keeps me away from needing steroids or using coal tar shampoo as shower gel (as the manufacturers have withdrawn Psoriderm bath additive, which could stop the stinging in its tracks, even if it did make me smell rather like I'd bathed in Dog Shampoo).

FlySwimmer · 15/11/2023 19:31

Another Aveeno vote, but I like the oil spray - the Skin Relief one. I get terrible scaly legs and this is great. I’ll try to start incorporating some body brushing as well!

mdinbc · 15/11/2023 19:34

I have this issue as well. I use Neutogena Body oil every morning. Lotions don't seem to do the trick for me.

I'm also guilty of loving a hot bubble bath, which strips moisture from your skin. I notice in winter my legs are dryer than in summer, mostly due to the hot baths. So some oil does the trick.

MyDogSmellsTerrible · 15/11/2023 19:37

Eucerin 10% urea lotion.

It's meaty! It's the only thing that works and keeps working for me. I've been using it for 20 years now. Absolute god send.

Usernameanonymous · 15/11/2023 20:05

I have this since having my youngest, I exfoliate - I'm using the new Aveeno one which is lovely. I use an SLS free shower gel and apply the Aveeno (navy blue range) oil while I'm still wet from the shower. Then when my legs are nearly dry I rub a moisturizer over the top in a bid to seal it in. It all helps but I have to be truly diligent

HairyFeline · 15/11/2023 22:16

I had no moisturiser to hand but did have some argon oil for hair. Popped a bit of that on dry legs and results were awesome.
