‘Glowy’ skin advice

Tinks15 · 05/11/2023 22:32

Ladies that have that lovely ‘glowy’ skin…what product do you swear by that gives that ‘glowy’ skin look?
I try to look after my skin always cleanse, moisturise & use SPF 50 but it still somehow looks quite dull.

Advise or any suggestions please?

Tretinoin plus a ceramide based moisturiser has worked for me.
Not an overnight fix but I saw results in 6 months. My skin wasn't terrible before, no acne or breakouts but makeup didn't sit well, sunk into my pores and I had patches of redness & dullness.
I still have a stubborn area of rosacea on my cheek about the size of a 50p but apart from a bit of concealer I can go makeup free.

Same - tretinoin (Dermatica) and a ceramide night cream (Sunday Riley Ice). I also swear by Dermatica 20% Azelaic acid and Paula’s Choice 20% niacinamide. But the magic ingredient that money can’t buy is consistency - all the products in the world won’t make a difference unless you use them consistently!

I took up jogging. My skin looked amazing. Then I stopped. Now it does not.

Try jogging.

NewbieSM · 06/11/2023 01:19

Agree about starting tretinoin but be careful as it's very strong and can cause quite a lot of dryness and flaking in the first few months. Pair with a really hydrating ceramide moisturiser and only use once or twice a week building up as tolerated.

Otherwise trying a chemical exfoliant, alpha h liquid gold is amazing for smooth texture and glowy radiance

Ffsebok · 06/11/2023 01:23

Good diet. Fish and veggies.
Tretinoin.
Chemical exfoliator.
Spf.

I don't get on with ret/treat but I found the sunday riley vitamin c serum and moisturiser gives me a good glow. I then use a bit of primer and powder fir extra glowiness

Exercise and lots of water.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 06/11/2023 09:03

Drink 4 litres of water daily. Exfoliate & spf.

evryevrytime · 06/11/2023 09:08

I haven't got on well with retinoids and am nervous to try tretinoin. But I think I have good "glow" without them.

I use Pixi Glow exfoliating tonic at night and Sunday Riley moisturiser like PPs.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is brilliant for glow via makeup.

Until you get your skin in tip top condition, use a drop or a couple of drops of a face illuminated mixed in with your foundation/bb cream etc.

I love this

Hot yoga
Min 2 liters of water
8 hours of sleep
Nip N Fab glycolic pads
Prickly pear oil from Morocco
Sisley black rose oil cream
Genetics

ChishiyaBat · 06/11/2023 10:32

2 words, rose oil.

bakewellbride · 06/11/2023 12:01

Please don't drink 4 litres of water a day, that much can be dangerous.

I like Rimmel kind and free skin tint, a healthy vegan diet, water and running

Torres10 · 06/11/2023 12:07

Vitamin C serum - geek & gorgeous is a reasonable price for the return but if you have the £££ , nothing beats Skinceuticals CE Ferulic

theveryhungrybum · 06/11/2023 12:11

A cleanser with glycolic or salicylic acid, Vit C serum, hyaluronic serum, an eye cream and a good moisturiser. Every day.

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 06/11/2023 12:41

Enough water (ahem… I need to listen to my own advice on this one.)

Spritz face with hydrating, nourishing mist in the morning followed by Vitamin C/Antioxidant Serum.
Light weight hydrating moisturiser if necessary. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen. No excuses. (I have been using Japanese and Korean ones for years, and won’t go back to crappy Aus ones. Also don’t need moisturiser as they do both.) Apply to neck, décolleté and hands - reapply frequently.
Add a glowy primer like Missha Glow Balm. (Also super-moisturising) or Fenty Body Sauce. (It’s supposed to be for the body but I use it alone on my face and it comes in a giant tube.) or Charlotte Tilbury one. Lightweight foundation or tinted moisturiser.
PM:-
Double-cleansing with oil/cleansing balm. (Massage while you’re at it) and gentle foaming cleanser to remove the residue. Both wiped off gently with microfibre cloth.
Spritz with same mist.
Tretinoin - very small amount.
Nourishing Cream.
Eye Cream. (Mine has retinal)
Lip sleeping mask

MaliciaKeys · 06/11/2023 12:42

A tiny amount of Crystal Potion mixed in with moisturiser.

learieonthewildmoor · 06/11/2023 12:53

Highlighter stick on your cheekbones, blush, lip gloss, mascara.

Barnowlsandbluebells · 06/11/2023 12:54

Tretinoin. Drinking more water makes no difference whatsoever to my skin.

mumno11 · 06/11/2023 12:55

I'm interested in knowing what different ceramide moisturizer is everyone using? Is the choice according to skin type?

CanIPetThatDawg · 06/11/2023 13:00

I use the Illyoon ceramide cream. I think it was around £20 for a 200 ml tube that feels like it’s going to last forever.

NotLactoseFree · 06/11/2023 13:11

My skin can also look dull. It is naturally very dry too. So I use moisterizing serums at night (Amino Acid and B5 or hylaronic acid, from The Ordinary) as well as a very hydrating hylaronic acid night cream (neutrogena). This helps me to wake up with my skin en route to being less dull .

In the mornings, I exfoliate regularly - an acid exfoliator a few days a week or a light facial scrub in the shower.

I use two serums in the morning - a good all round serum (Clarins Double Serum) and a vitamin C serum (The Ordinary vitamin C with silicon or the Murad Vitamin C serum. Both are excellent and give my skin a glow. The ordinary is clearly a lot cheaper!)

Than a moisturiser and SPF.

My skin is a LOT glowier than it used to be.
