Are these riding boots or RIDING boots?

I’ve just bought some black boots in a charity shop for £6 (seems like a total bargain as they are brand new and unworn).

They’re absolutely lovely on and look fab (imo) with both leggings and mini skirts. Think this sort of look.

However, I’ve just googled the brand and it seems they are ACTUAL riding boots, as in, for horse riding. Now I’m doubting them!

The brand is Loveson.

Is it ok to wear these as fashion boots? They’re very similar to those all over Insta…

If you had to google before knowing then I am sure it is not obvious. They look just like nice boots to me .

Twentymorequestions · 29/10/2023 13:07

Yep. Actual riding boots. You will now need to buy a horse.....

namechange1986 · 29/10/2023 13:09

Definitely riding boots. I could tell straight away, but I did ride.

nicebumbum · 29/10/2023 13:10

Hmm.

But would it be acceptable to wear them not for riding?

I do love them!

florenceandthemac · 29/10/2023 13:11

I'd just wear them

OrlandointheWilderness · 29/10/2023 13:11

Yep actual riding boots and I'm afraid cheap not very good ones! But yep - by all means wear them. You might get a couple of strange looks if you live in the country but most people won't know what they are!

Iamonetoo · 29/10/2023 13:12

Yes def actual riding boots

CocoonofDavid · 29/10/2023 13:13

If they are the ones in the eBay post above they are rubber with a padded synthetic lining… takes me back to riding wear of my childhood in the 90s.

One warning I’ll give is don’t wear them if it’s warm… they were an absolute bugger in the summer! You’d spend the day in them, riding as well as generally mucking about and obviously getting very warm… you then needed a friend to help you- you’d sit/lie on the floor and the friend would heave on your foot. Often (once they were a bit older) the sole/lining would come away from the inside of the boots and stick to your legs/feet and then it was a real struggle to get them off! 🤢

However, (sweaty summers aside!) if you like them, wear them!! No one apart from possibly the odd older equestrian will notice!

WeighDownOnMe · 29/10/2023 13:13

They do have a welly type vibe I think, but if you love them (which you sound like you do) then so what? To the average passer by they'll just be black boots.

Divebar2021 · 29/10/2023 13:13

The eBay ones look like wellie material… I assume yours are not leather either?

LookItsMeAgain · 29/10/2023 13:15

Before I opened the thread I thought the first 'riding' in your thread title referred to the horsey type of riding and then when you put the second one in capital letters I thought "Oh my! Are these thigh-high patent leather zip up boots (a la Julia Roberts pre-transformation in Pretty Woman) that the OP is asking about?" as in that sort of riding.

I'm pleasantly relieved if not a little embarrassed! 😆

Petrine · 29/10/2023 13:15

They are riding boots of a sort… more like yard boots as they’re wellington boots.

I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t wear them.

mondaytosunday · 29/10/2023 13:16

Who cares? You like them wear them! People wear sports clothes as regular wear all the time.

IAmtheVampiresWife · 29/10/2023 13:16

Why have you not put a photo of yours on?

The memories this post brought back 😂 I still ride but am able to be more discerning about my boots these days!!

This 🤣

They look great, if you love them that's all that matters 😊

Can you get them on Vinted or in charity shops?

itsmyp4rty · 29/10/2023 13:20

Riding boots are so much nicer than wellies. I couldn't imagine wearing them with a miniskirt personally but I don't know why anyone would object.

You got a bargain and so why not make the most of it.

Love how your mind works!

Are they leather or not? I think that makes the difference.

Breadahead · 29/10/2023 13:21

They look like wellies

ActDottie · 29/10/2023 13:22

Definitely riding boots I used to wear some just like that horse riding.

I can’t imagine they’re that comfy though? Not very flexible? Fine for horse riding but I wouldn’t find them comfy.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/10/2023 13:22

Loveson - entry level equestrian wear.
They're probably not leather.

QuestionableMouse · 29/10/2023 13:23

I used to hate those when I was wearing them actually around horses. The description above of trying to get the buggers off is totally accurate!
