Are these riding boots or RIDING boots?

I’ve just bought some black boots in a charity shop for £6 (seems like a total bargain as they are brand new and unworn).

They’re absolutely lovely on and look fab (imo) with both leggings and mini skirts. Think this sort of look.

However, I’ve just googled the brand and it seems they are ACTUAL riding boots, as in, for horse riding. Now I’m doubting them!

The brand is Loveson.

Is it ok to wear these as fashion boots? They’re very similar to those all over Insta…

Are these riding boots or RIDING boots?

Before I opened the thread I thought the first 'riding' in your thread title referred to the horsey type of riding and then when you put the second one in capital letters I thought "Oh my! Are these thigh-high patent leather zip up boots (a la Julia Roberts pre-transformation in Pretty Woman) that the OP is asking about?" as in that sort of riding.

I'm pleasantly relieved if not a little embarrassed! 😆

So did I 🤣🤣🤣🤣

MadCatLady27 · 29/10/2023 13:24

Yep Loveson are horse riding boots, used to have their short jodhpur boots at times when I rode. When I was younger I also had rubber long boots - all I can say is invest in a very good boot remover as they are the work of the devil to get off!!

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 29/10/2023 13:27

Not sure how comfortable those will be to wear. I used to muck out at a stables in them. You'd sweat to death in them and removal often required assistance!

Can you get them on Vinted or in charity shops?

Am considering putting mine on eBay as they have both tried to ditch me this week😂

twistyizzy · 29/10/2023 13:38

Yep riding boots and very basic cheap ones at that. The sort that kids have as their first pair. However if you like them then get them. Only horsey people would know.

nicebumbum · 29/10/2023 13:41

Ok, I think I will put them on vinted - I live in quite an equestrian area so I think people will notice.

Shame as I thought they looked really nice!

I mean there's no need to overreact and sell them, just buy a horse now surely? 😂

Oh don't do that...you should wear them when you're "RIDING" 😂😂😂

WeighDownOnMe · 29/10/2023 14:10

I so thought RIDING boots were sex boots 😆😆

Loveson - entry level equestrian wear.
They're probably not leather.

This exactly
I had Loveson boots as a child when my feet were growing fast for riding.

namechange1986 · 29/10/2023 14:13

Yeah from memory the sole is slippy and they don't bend much. Not v comfy for walking.

DevonSeaSwimmer · 29/10/2023 14:43

Twentymorequestions · 29/10/2023 13:07

Yep. Actual riding boots. You will now need to buy a horse.....

Or...

SoShallINever · 29/10/2023 15:59

Well you could have some fun 😉 did you buy a whip as well?

IAmNeon · 29/10/2023 16:08

Yes those are horse riding boots. They'll be warm (especially if you add fleece insoles) and waterproof for winter, impervious to mud, but perhaps not the most comfortable thing for doing lots of walking in because they're designed to support ankle stability whilst riding. Not suitable for ice due to the smooth soles riding boots have, so your feet don't get stuck in the stirrups if you fall off. They'll come up like new with furniture polish after you've cleaned and dried them. They're not leather, they're full or part rubber.

I'd be careful driving in them, check your car seats, years ago my friend got hers stuck on the plastic piping of the car seat, couldn't get her foot off the accelerator and went 40mph into the back of the car in front. I never drive in riding boots now!

IAmNeon · 29/10/2023 16:15

nicebumbum · 29/10/2023 13:10

Hmm.

But would it be acceptable to wear them not for riding?

I do love them!

Yes it's fine! The horsey look is often in fashion and your feet will be warm and dry all winter, for sure.

RandomUsernameHere · 29/10/2023 16:18

Definitely actual horse riding boots as opposed to riding style boots

If you're looking for some second hand ones try your local riding club page or general equestrian page on Facebook

Wear them, will be smarter than wellies on wet days for hacking out your eBay/charity shop steed.
