I bought these boots...but now don't know how to wear them!

I've been in love with them for about 2 years. They arrived this week. They're beautiful. And comfortable.

But....what do I wear them with?!? I see them with tights and skirts and dresses. But trousers...I like mom jeans and tapered but socks/no socks?? Hmm!!

I’ve got some similar (all saints via eBay I think) and they work well with my faded black mom or girlfriend jeans (with just the hem turned up) and a plain top, maybe a cool but not OTT necklace. A longish wool coat or blazer rather than a biker jacket.

I also wore them in the summer with a long floaty white dress although that was a bit too much of a “summer 2023 Look” for me so I don’t think I’ll repeat.

I like the boots and the style isn’t too OTT or out there in terms of what I see people wearing where I live.

SocksAndTheCity · 29/10/2023 11:15

I've had my Chloe Susannah boots (which are similar) for an age and I wear them with everything, but then my 'everything' rarely includes trousers. Short dresses and tights, definitely 😀

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/10/2023 11:42

They are awesome op. Need to the centre of the look though - need to be seen! So I’d wear those mainly with shorter skirts and dresses - which is very much my look anyway to be fair - with tights if it’s cooler. Enjoy.

Wolvesart · 29/10/2023 12:01

Skinny or ankle skimmer jeans and with black tights and dresses, skirts. Might be fun with these longer denim skirts that are in, but possibly with socks (not visible) with those.

I’ve just bought a rib knit dress (midi length) they would look fab with. I have 2 pairs of ankle boots that go with it well - one has side zip entry and small studs on front (think twinkly stars) and the other are Chelsea boot style in suede with lowish block heel.

Lifeomars · 29/10/2023 12:17

Fabulous boots, I would wear them with very plain things and let them be the star of the show.

FancyFanny · 29/10/2023 12:29

I'd say they are very versatile OP. I'd wear them with a flippy shortish black skirt, jumper and tights, or I'd go for bootcut black jeans and a blouse, or black skinnies and an oversize jumper, or a darkish print dress - they look very "All Saints' in style so maybe look on their website for ideas.

IAmtheVampiresWife · 29/10/2023 13:12

I'm of the opinion that if you are having to ask for style advice on these boots then they are really not for you . I don't think they look like All Saints boots either but have more of a cowboy look crossed with a brogue. To me they are the kind of boots that someone with a certain look already would wear.

Britpopbaby · 29/10/2023 13:13

I think they would give a bit of an edge to the most simple of outfits including floral dresses in the spring summer. I think I’d make the boots the star of your outfit and go plain and simple for the rest of your outfit.

after many years of reckless shopping, my general philosophy is that if it’s too hard to match send it back

Ha, so with you! I'm currently clearing out my wardrobe and wrestling against items that I've had years but never been able to match with anything, I think they're finally in the charity shop pile!

SiobhanSharpe · 29/10/2023 13:16

Fringed suede jacket and a Stetson?

Roussette · 29/10/2023 13:17

Maybe at a Line Dancing class?

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/10/2023 15:21

Idk if you’d wear anything from here or what your budget is for clothes… Id say avoid the full length wide legged trousers. Only bought a jumper from here but the quality was ok for the price. https://www.disturbia.co.uk/

I agree the boots are very versatile. Remind me of the sort of thing I covered in my youth. Am going full circle atm.

If they were an impulse buy I might agree with the 'send them back' advice but you've wanted them for 2 years. You now need to figure out why - if you're anything like me there will be a reason.

londonmummy1966 · 29/10/2023 15:57

I think that they would work well with long black socks or tights and wide leg black culottes - the ones that area midi skirt length plus a closer fitting black top.

idontknowhowigotoverit · 29/10/2023 16:01

What to wear with them? A broomstick and a pointy hat I would say.

Zone2NorthLondon · 29/10/2023 16:03

Excellent boots. Undoubtedly you’ll look smashing wearing them
on the basis of the boots I went off to check out the retailer - divine

BowiesJumper · 29/10/2023 16:59

I’ve been coveting these boots for ages too! Love em. I still wear skinny jeans and band T-shirts etc though.

Coolhwip · 29/10/2023 18:10

I really don’t like them, I can see why you can’t wear them.

CrabbiesGingerBeer · 29/10/2023 18:42

No idea what to wear them with as I’m useless at that sort of thing but I wanted to say those are seriously nice shoes.

I hope you can work out outfits that work with them and that you are comfortable with.

Lovethatforyouhun · 29/10/2023 19:33

Wow some of the comment are so unnecessary!
Huns, stick to your boring old crap and leave op alone. Classic mumsnet!

OP black mom jeans, black tights and a dress, leggings and oversized shirt. They are gorgeous. I have the gold Susanna’s and was tempted by these for the silver hardware but had to have a word with myself!

chalkyc2 · 29/10/2023 08:39

@EtiennePalmiere I agree - on all points! No shorts for me.

I absolutely knew they would be these boots! They're lovely ! Wear them with dresses and thick tights

chalkyc2 · 30/10/2023 09:02

Very much enjoying all the comments - positive and negative!!

Thanks for all suggestions - it was the trousers aspect which I was really suddenly unsure of and now have lots of ideas. I'm generally updating my wardrobe anyway due to recent and continuing weight loss so who knows where these boots will take me!!

Will experiment this week.

They are great! They'd look good with any style of jeans, straight flared etc whether blue or black jeans, so you could wear them every day if you wanted to.

And feck off those people telling you to send them back!

Appleass · 30/10/2023 18:05

I know i am being rude, but good lord these are the ugliest boots I have ever seen! They are like something from TEMU lol

TheHawkisHowling · 30/10/2023 18:10

TBH, I think they're screaming black tights and smart shorts.
