Has anyone tried skin and me?

I'm 30 next year and still suffer with acne. Last time I went to the GP I was prescribed doxycycline and even though it made me feel sick I stuck with the course but it didn't help. I use benzoyl every night and have tried countless products but it's like I'm destined to have bad skin. I'm really embarssed of the fact I'm almost 30 and suffer with this. I have seen a product called skin and me pop up a few times online but always from influencers whose opinion I don't trust so I wanted to see if anyone had tried it and if it does really help? I don't have lots of spare money to spend so want to get opinions first or if anyone happens to have a product that miraculously cured their acne and doesn't break the bank please let me know 😅 (I have dry skin not oily).

Skin and Me is an online dermatologist, so they make a skincare “prescription” tailored to your individual concerns. They also do their own range of skincare products, cleanser, sunscreen etc. You complete an online consultation and upload photos, then they check in with you a few months down the line go see how you are getting on, and can tweak the formula.

I’ve found it really good for a combo of ageing skin and hormonal spots. This code gets you a discount and I get a referral credit:

I've just finished month 2 of using skin and me and it's brilliant in my opinion.
I actually have zero spots at present. The only time my skin was this clear before was during pregnancy. The spots that I had when I started cleared up much quicker than expected!

If you get the cheap trial, it's well worth trying.
I also bought their moisturiser/cleanser on my 2nd month as I really rated the samples.
I had tried it sooner tbh.

The only downside i have is that it is expensive!

Sorry, that should say - I wish I had tried it sooner!

Hmm didn’t work for me. But I’m breastfeeding and I think they won’t include any of the stronger ingredients in my prescription. Might try again when finished given the feedback above.

VeridicalVagabond · 25/10/2023 16:11

I'm obsessed with it, was 32 and really struggling with hormonal acne. Have been using it for 6 months now and the difference is astonishing. I get the odd one or two spots around my period, but nothing like the break outs I used to have, and nowhere near as angry or long lasting.

Their cleansers and moisturisers are nice too if you get the pack, but it's not necessary, just the customised cream is wonderful.

Totalwasteofpaper · 25/10/2023 16:13

I wanted to love it.

One potion / lotion once a day
Fan-tastic.

In reality it did nothing for me..I gave up after 3 months

TheDestinationUnknown · 25/10/2023 16:14

I've been using skin + me for nearly 3 years. I first got it on a trial where I only paid postage and then didn't renew the subscription because, although it made my skin much better, I didn't think it was worth the cost. After about 2 weeks my skin went back to how it was before using it and I was shocked at the difference. I hadn't realised how much it had transformed my skin as it was gradual over the month that I used it. I renewed the subscription and haven't looked back since then.

I've never had acne, so I can't give an opinion on how well it works for that. But my skin used to be dull with the first signs of aging creeping in. And I used to get bad hormonal breakouts with 3 or 4 big, painful spots every month. Now I get maybe 1 mild spot every couple of months and my skin absolutely glows. It's definitely helped to slow down the signs of aging as well.

I would definitely say give it a try.

rolvus · 25/10/2023 16:28

Yes, and absolutely love it. Absolutely only thing that's ever worked for my open pores. Barely use anything else now, so saves me hundreds in the long run. Also find a tube lasts me a bit longer than a month actually. Wish I'd found it years ago!

whatamess100 · 25/10/2023 16:35

I was a dermatica fan but couldn't afford it anymore, had 6 month break and went over to skin and me and my skin hated it, i went from no spots to having 10 spots on my chin alone, tried to persevere but gave up. I know loads of ppl who love it though

TheFlis · 25/10/2023 16:48

Has anyone tried it for rosacea? Soolantra has done nothing for me so contemplating giving this a go.

ElleCapitaine · 25/10/2023 16:51

Be ready to get 500 codes 😂😂😂😂

HundredMilesAnHour · 25/10/2023 16:52

I use Dermatica and it's made a huge difference to my acne. Wish I'd known about it sooner! Dermatica are slightly cheaper than Skin & Me.

Bumping this old thread.

Can anyone tell me the rough cost per month of using skin+me?

Does anyone have a code I can use?

I honestly wouldn't bother, my skin was absolutely horrid, worse it's ever been since starting skin and me. Cancelled it and gone back to just using benzoyl and has already made a big improvement with spots.

I think it's really individual. It cleared my acne totally even and it's never come back. I use it for tret now for anti ageing

JoJo36 · 27/03/2024 12:26

I’m a fan, I’ve been using it for about 2 years now. I am a bit cheeky in that I skimp on the amount I put on each night so I can get two months out of one month’s supply 😊.

If you use this code I don’t get any credit but £10 is donated to the Mental Health Foundation.

Make sure you use spf 50 and ask for the amount of tret in it to be titrated up each month (to the maximum 0.1%) if you can tolerate it.

I started using it only every second night, similar to @JoJo36 but it stopped allowing me to delay/skip the deliveries and I ended up cancelling it. Not sure what I will do when my stash runs out because I think it’s now £29.99 a month which is a big jump from when I started with it.

OooScotland · 27/03/2024 13:41

I’m just starting month three of skin and me and I love it so far. I’m in my fifties and not using it for acne. I saw it on Ruth Crilly’s blog and was curious.

For skin and me you do an online questionnaire and send three photos of your face. They assess what’s going on and if your issues are suitable for their tret based mixtures they’ll send you a ‘doser’ that lasts a month, on subscription, and the strength will likely increase over the next few months. You have full control of the subscription timing and can cancel from the start. My order is currently £24.99 a month for a Tret, niacinamide and Azelaic acid cream.

If you go ahead with the order but refuse to send photos they will send you a non prescription niacinamide moisturiser. This is made clear. If they see the photos and they don’t think you can benefit from their products they will turn you down for treatment and refund your money.

The first order (mine was £3.50 introductory offer, no code needed) will come with samples of their cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen, which you can add to future orders if you like matching skincare. These products are very, very basic though and imo, overpriced so I didn’t. I use Pai and LaRoche for my other skincare and they play nicely.

Which is all to say, you’ve nothing to lose by trying it. Every influencer is going on about it but it isn’t a scam and I’m glad I decided to try it.

OooScotland · 27/03/2024 13:57

How do you do that? Seriously. I’m the queen of eking out a product but I’m so frustrated with the ‘daily doser’ pump only giving me enough for about half my face each night. I’ve resorted to adding a bit of serum to it to make it go further but its not really working.

It's a treatment so it's only a tiny amount, like using olaplex or k18 on your hair
I use it every other night
Click the doser for a dose, then do your face in small dots to make sure it's spread over - it won't feel moisturised or anything
Like with tretinoin, you need a pea size amount if that. Moisturise after 20 mins or so if you need it

JoJo36 · 27/03/2024 19:27

I just twist the doser up a little each night rather than the whole way until it clicks.

I didn’t rate the other products from them much although I thought the SPf was good and lasted ages. Trying the vit c serum now (from a free trial). Interested to hear if anyone else rates that.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 27/03/2024 19:48

I've been using it for over a year now and it's really sorted my skin out. I suffer from rosacea and am quite greasy - sortwd both issues out and I get a lot of compliments on my skin now

I got some for DD’s hormonal acne 3 weeks ago and the difference has been remarkable- way better than the stuff from the doctors and anti biotics. I’m only paying £12 ish a month I think? I only went for the Daily Doser as wanted to see if that worked first before I spent any more money. She’s really pleased after 3 years of spots.
