Wide leg trousers

MissingMoominMamma · 25/10/2023 09:32

Hello,

I’m looking for wide leg, black (and navy) trousers in a flattering fabric (to go out in) with a flat front. I have a little pouchy belly, so would like fabric with enough stretch and thickness to keep it in a bit, but not really thick fabric so that they don’t fall nicely.

Does anyone have anything that sounds likely?

TIA 😊

I love wide leg trousers for work and recently bought a pair of check ones from M&S. So comfy am going back for more. Only down side is no pockets!

These from M&S are great, they hang well, are quite heavy and very flattering. They look much more expensive than they are and wash well.

Love that M&S do an Extra Short version.

I don’t shop there as there isn’t one in my town but it’s for things like this that I hope M&S don’t go the way of Debenhams.

I have the M&S ones (£17.50) in three colours, short length, and they’re great

All the love for the M+S trousers has me very curious! I bought jersey trousers from M+S last year that were very thin and assumed these would be similar but all these mumsnetters can't be wrong... OP, please do update when you have tried them!

greglet · 27/10/2023 09:23

Those M&S trousers are out of stock in my size in every colour but bright pink 😭

Doingitsolo2023 · 27/10/2023 09:30

These look fab - can I ask what you wear them with?

Thinking plain T-shirt/ long sleeved but not sure on my feet?

Whataretheodds · 27/10/2023 09:33

As a belly girl I was put off the m&s ones because they're front-fastening. I've always thought side zip works much better with a tummy.

Anyone with a similar shape tried the m&s ones?

Pinkshoes71 · 27/10/2023 09:41

Has anyone found any wide leg trousers that aren’t massively wide. I’m only 5’3 and even if I get the short length that are good lengthwise, I look like a block of wood because they are just too wide. Square looking if you know what I mean ?

Hedjwitch · 27/10/2023 15:43

My M&S ones are elasticated waist so no fastenings.

Eybyegum · 27/10/2023 19:34

I have the £17.50 M&S ones after seeing them on a thread on here. I would wear them every day if I could. I wear them for everything from work to dog walking. They’re very comfortable ( elastic waist) and thick enough to look good and hang well.

I agree. Front-fastening are not good if you've got a belly (mine sticks out more than my boobs do!). Same with those ruched ones with the tie belt at the front. They look awful.

I had some linen wide leg M&S ones from the summer. They are so comfy. Elasticated waste and a very thin tie thingy at the front that's only decorative. They are too thin for winter so you can't buy them at the moment. The black colour has faded a bit so that's the only thing about cheaper items, I think. The colour might not last.

I love when you click on these and it says "100 people are looking at these right now" and you think "mumsnetters!" Grin

Aye, and with a passion for polyester!

I have similar challenges. I'm an engineer in a very male industry, where I lead from the front so appearance is important. I'm size 26 and due to a medical issue have a full time catheter and bag on my leg. When legs are tight, I get a visible bulge where my bag fills up.

Botanica · 29/10/2023 13:38

I tried on some really lovely Gina Bacconi navy wide legged trousers and was pleasantly surprised how flattering they were.

Light crepe with a chiffon overlay. From John Lewis.

GuitarGeorgina · 29/10/2023 13:55

I wear the M&S ones for work. They’re very comfortable I don’t think they’re particularly flattering for those (like me) who are short.

Pollydoodle83 · 29/10/2023 13:57

Try yours they cater for all shapes and sizes good luck

I second this

I'm normally not a fan of M & S but these are really comfortable, yet smart enough for work

Doingitsolo2023 · 30/10/2023 08:48

@NutellaRose these look good, think Ill try them in black. Im 5'7 so will try regular length. Thanks

CharlotteBog · 30/10/2023 09:10

I have the M&S ones. I love them.
What footwear are people wearing with them?
I usually wear my Adidas Gazelles but would like something more substantial for the cooler months.

Cbgds87 · 30/10/2023 10:37

Tempted by the M&S ones, what lengths are people getting for height? Reviews suggest they are long, I'm short so unsure whether to get short or extra short
