Jawline filler, are obvious lumps normal at first?

I've just got jaw filler for the first time and it's really lumpy, particularly on one side. It feels and looks like I have 3 marbles under my skin

The injector is a HCP and all above board so I'm sure everything was done correctly but I'm a bit apprehensive as I was warned there will be swelling but wasn't expecting this.

I've sent her a message but she hasn't seen it yet.

Is this normal?

Bloody hell. Never again.

No.

Not had jawline but had some cheek fillers.

The lumps are because it is not injected deeply enough.

Did she massage the filler under the skin as soon as she'd injected?

HCP- what are her qualifications?

Mine is done by someone qualified as a surgeon (dr) and she's also a qualified dentist.

BlackFlyChardonnay · 05/10/2023 19:22

I've had lip and cheek filler and lumps are not normal. Contact her so she can rectify it. I'm surprised she didn't notice at the time.

Lumpsandbumps4 · 05/10/2023 19:43

She's a registered nurse.

I've sent pictures showing the problem and now I'm waiting for a response. I was hoping it was normal due to the area and something that would resolve itself in a few days.

I assume it'll need to be dissolved then?

What an expensive mistake that was.

Forgot to say, yes she massaged the area afterwards but not for very long. Should I massage it myself?

If it's not right, they should refund the cost.

TBH a registered nurse is not always well qualified in fillers.

If you dare to do it again, look for someone who is a doctor or a dentist who understands the facial structures and also has a LOT of experience in a reputable clinic.

I don't mean you did anything wrong, but there is a wide range of experience in people doing these fillers. I did a huge amount of research first and went to a dr in a clinic that's one of the best in the UK as I wouldn't have trusted anyone else.

Lumpsandbumps4 · 05/10/2023 20:10

Thank you. Hopefully she's helpful when she replies. She did seem really nice.

I've been looking online for answers about whether or not I should be massaging it and keep seeing conflicting answers 🙁

Mines never been lumpy but always been much too sore to touch.. personally I'd ice it and leave it alone and get her to have a look at it

Lumpsandbumps4 · 05/10/2023 20:14

I don't have any pain at all really, I've just eaten my tea and wouldn't know I'd had anything done if it weren't for the visible lumps. I think it's probably like Ultimate said, it wasn't injected deep enough.

You would expect some pain and tenderness wouldn't you.

Good idea about icing I'll do that now.

OP posts:
Lumpsandbumps4 · 05/10/2023 21:02

She thinks it's just swelling from the injection site. I'm not so sure though. Swelling I'd expect but actual lumps?

I'll ice my face for a couple of days and see where I'm at. I'm probably going to want it dissolved as I don't fancy looking like this for the foreseeable.

UltimateInteriors · 05/10/2023 22:08

Please be careful with ice. Put it in a cover of some sort because too cold ice can burn.

You shouldn't have lumps. I had some redness the first time I'd had it done but that was with several injections. The subsequent ones were done with a canula but there was no swelling.

What were you having done? Jawline fillers are usually a good way back towards the ears to try to lift jowls and the corners of your mouth.
Do you know how much filler she used? The fee you pay usually depends on the amount of product.

I had 1ml each side for cheek fillers and was told 0.5ml for each side of the jaw to get some 'lift' of sagging.

ferretface · 05/10/2023 22:17

How long ago did you have this done? If it's less than 3-4 days ago you need to wait to see if it's just swelling that will go down.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 05/10/2023 22:40

You need a proper aesthetic practioner which a nurse isn't.

Lumpsandbumps4 · 06/10/2023 07:21

I had it done at 5 o clock yesterday so very recent. I've spent hours looking at other people's results and how the procedure is done and I'm in no doubt that I've been absolutely botched. I'm going to attach a picture. There's no way this is just swelling it's literally solid balls of filler 😔

I am definitely no expert in anything cosmetic but I cannot imagine that is right. Have you sent that photo to her?

Lumpsandbumps4 · 06/10/2023 07:27

Yes I've sent her that photo and more from different angles. She's confident it's swelling. It's not is it?

She'll tell me to give it 2 weeks for swelling to go down but I refuse to walk around like this. I've had a few other things done before and never had anything like this. It looks even worse in other pictures.

I'm so sorry my love :( This needs to be rectified, I wouldn't want her to touch my face again tbh. This is not simple swelling from injection, what a con!

Lumpsandbumps4 · 06/10/2023 07:32

Alot of practitioners don't like dissolving other people's work and that's just lips, I can't see anybody else being willing to deal with this 😔

OP posts:
Lumpsandbumps4 · 06/10/2023 07:35

I don't even think the positioning of the filler is right is it?

OP posts:
SD1978 · 06/10/2023 07:53

I'm sorry- but yes, that looks like it hasn't been done right- that isn't localised swelling. Is she an independent/ solo practitioner? Is there anyone else you could see at the same place? Sometimes things don't work- I would give her a chance to dissolve it, if she has a good reputation, but I'd also be miffed sue tried to claim it's just swelling.

Zola1 · 06/10/2023 07:55

I agree that doesn't look right at all and I think she needs to dissolve it and give you your money back.

She's an independent solo practitioner yes. I asked how long she has been doing aesthetics and she said 18 months or so. It seemed a bit recent but her work all looked impressive in pictures and I was reassured by the fact she's a nurse and familiar with injecting. In hindsight that doesn't mean a thing does it?

I will give her a chance to dissolve it as I don't think anybody else will touch it.

Get it dissolved and get a refund, then go to a doctor. Are you near London? If so I could give you a few recommendations?

No, that is not right at all. I have had jawline filler and tho slightly lumpy to touch for a few days it was utterly smooth/clean to look at. I can’t believe she did this to you. I once went to a Botox aesthetician (nurse, head of dept. That kind of thing. Lesson learned, only surgeons/decent dentists thereafter) who was ace with the top half of the face, hopeless on the bottom, maybe this HCP has never done a jaw line before. In any case it’s a dreadful lack of care on her part. I think you could get removed elsewhere and I’d advise you to do that, I’d have no trust in her at all now. I’ll share with you my tale of woe about my hair cut done last Thursday. It’s an absolute mess, shorter on one side, too layered so my curls don’t fall properly. I paid vast fortunes (well north of £200), swayed by a chi chi salon and the charisma of the director. I’m getting married in two weeks…
