I'm 50 and would wear it in the evening when out. Does it look old/frumpy or quite stylish?

What do you think of this bracelet?

I think it’s on the frumpy side.

PoseasRadicalActuallyMisogynistic · 30/09/2023 18:43

I think it very much depends what you’re going to wear it with, in the picture it looks like it is paired with a 1980’s power suit. I’m not sure that look is in at the moment.
it could look boho with more jewellery and bracelets etc
what look are you going for?
I mean it’s a pearl bracelet women have been wearing similar bracelets of beads/pearls for millennia so no way can it be dated

What do you mean by frumpy please?

smallshinybutton · 30/09/2023 18:47

Are we using the Google definition of frumpy - dowdy and old-fashioned if so then yes pearls like that have been worn for years so are old-fashioned I guess but they are also new-fashioned as fashion harks back to the past. Dowdy I see as just a stick to beat women with.

Jojoanna · 30/09/2023 18:49

I like it ! I always wanted the bracelet Audrey Hepburn wore in rear window not relevant

stealthbanana · 30/09/2023 18:53

I love it. Although depends on your skin tone (looks awesome on the model). I have just pulled out my chunky pearl bracelets after decades so I think they might be coming back as I have a sudden urge to wear them again. Perhaps you’re picking up on same?

PurpleChrayne · 30/09/2023 19:04

Cheap and ugly.

43ontherocksporfavor · 30/09/2023 19:07

Depends what you’re wearing it with. Cool on Carrie Bradshaw but frumpy on Theresa May.

Isn't "frumpy" just "I don't like it" but thinking adding "frumpy" makes it an objective fact?.

NatashaDancing · 30/09/2023 19:12

That's fine. I still don't like them. That's my personal opinion of them.

Yes I think so!

Jellycats4life · 30/09/2023 19:17

I agree. Freshwater pearls can be lovely in and of themselves - jewellery doesn’t have to be a sign of wealth 🙄

MysteryBelle · 30/09/2023 19:20

I like it, op.

Grace kelly was in Rear Window.

Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

pantypant · 30/09/2023 19:29

@NatashaDancing then you should say 'in my opinion freshwater pearls just say a person can't afford better pearls' rather than state it like some fact. Personally I think they can be stunning

And this one I would loooove

Teddleshon · 30/09/2023 19:32

Like most jewellery it completely depends upon the rest of your outfit and look.

CurlewKate · 30/09/2023 19:34

The pearls are to big for them to look "real" unless you are a member of the royal family. So it's a no from me.

Blackandwhitemakesgrey · 30/09/2023 19:36

Not for me.

mathanxiety · 30/09/2023 19:37

I'd call that style of jewelry "sedate".

mathanxiety · 30/09/2023 19:38

The pearls are too big to look real and too small to be any kind of statement.

I'm 58.

DiscoBeat · 30/09/2023 19:41

I think fake pearls look dated. Real ones are timeless.

Gladtoblasto · 30/09/2023 19:57

@NatashaDancing it's ok have your own view.

My view - I see fashion is not always about looking wealthy. To me (my opinion) it's about expressing yourself in your own way no matter if you shop at Primark or Prada. I like Cos jewellery as it's often a little bit different from the norm.

MariePaperRoses · 30/09/2023 20:09

Have a look at secondhand/preloved pear bracelets.
