What would you like to see come back in to fashion?

I'd quite like headscarves, as worn by most women in the 50s/60s. Rather useful as well as glamorous.

I also think a shawl would be nice.

I've had short hair since I was 20 and I'm now 50, apart from during the first lockdown when it grew to a chin length bob. I also stopped dyeing my hair about 5 years ago. I'm confident I do not look like a man or older than I am, but time and again on MN you see people asking about cutting their hair shorter being told it doesn't like nice or feminine, etc. and that naturally greying hair is ageing.

My vote for returning fashion is leg warmers. And cheaper energy prices.

I'd like scarves to be back in fashion too, silk scarves in particular. I have a lovely collection that I do wear, but it's lonely out here..! 😀

minipie · 28/09/2023 09:43

Yes yes yes to all the cries for fitted clothing, darts, tailoring. At the moment the choice seems to be boxy/oversized/sack like or stretchy/clingy.

Princesspeach31 · 28/09/2023 10:21

Scarves!
Chunky jewellery
Perms because I missed the 80s/90s but would love the excuse to get a perm (and instantly regret it)
Oversized woollen coats and berets so that I can pretend to be in an early 90s romcom set in New York.

TBF I still wear all of the above but would like to think I was being fashionable for once, and not just quirky

Rain mates. Plastic headscarves for wearing when it rains. Much easier than grappling with an umbrella when it's wet and windy and you've just done your hair.

I wish skinny jeans hadn't become controversial and were still solidly in fashion for all ages.

I've been wearing bootleg & flares all Summer but got skinnies out today with boots.

What jeans are the most fashionable at the moment anyone?

Floisme · 28/09/2023 15:24

Glam rock and/or the New Romantics, not because I particularly want to dress like that again myself but because it might make life in general more colourful.

Minttee · 28/09/2023 18:01

Just normal faces really! If you watch top of the pops from the 90s it really highlights how now everyone has their lips done, nose done and botox, they all look the same.
I sound old

Bandanas actually came back in with the TikTok generation a few years ago, but coincided with the pandemic so I guess a lot of people wouldn't even have noticed!

I would like longline tops to come back in fashion. Why is everything cropped?!

BrandNewBicep · 28/09/2023 21:13

PuppyMcPupFace - I had that exact same outfit and loved it.

honkersbonkers38 · 28/09/2023 21:15

Bunny jackets - pink

Blinkityblonk · 28/09/2023 21:16

Boot cut jeans are in fashion, wear them

Daffodilwoman · 28/09/2023 21:22

Arabian glow.
It would definitely suit me. Suits most skin types too.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/09/2023 21:23

Plastic rain bonnets. They rule!

RicePuddingLady · 28/09/2023 21:29

I was pondering this very thing this morning.

Good quality, lined pencil skirts that hit just below the knee. Not long floaty floral midaxi or bias cut silky midaxi or stupid pleats. Skirts have become so tatty and too long (or too short). Infact, tailored, lined clothes of all types would be good.

Costs with inside pockets. I miss the inside pocket!

Elegant shoes. I love comfort, but this horrendous clumpy shoe/boot fashion has been going on too long. I’d love a classic, Italian style to come back into vogue.

caffelattetogo · 28/09/2023 21:29

Rubenesque curves. If like to be fashionably fat!

caffelattetogo · 28/09/2023 21:29

I'd

FannyBawz · 28/09/2023 21:36

I’m kind of over trainers and want heels to come back !!! Never thought I’d say that!!

Really chunky platform trainers. I've seen loads of 90s style jeans around recently, but a) they still don't have quite enough pockets, and b) they just don't look quite right without the 90s shoes.

I've just brought myself some really funky platform trainers from Tkmaxx.. DH said I look like a spice girl, I'm taking this as a compliment.

A tabard for housework.

I love a tabard. Bugger it, i am having one.

I'm not a slave to fashion and wear loads of these. I just wear what suits me.

I wouldn’t say I was, but things being in fashion usually means more choice in the shops and not having to rely on stuff bought years ago.

Fair enough, I never go shopping so that's on me. Vinted and eBay for me
