I'd quite like headscarves, as worn by most women in the 50s/60s. Rather useful as well as glamorous.

I also think a shawl would be nice.

I have a pair of bootcut jeans and also a pair of flares. I'd quite like some bootcut cords too, but I haven't seen them anywhere. I also have short hair.
There was a short time about 10 years ago when boyfriend cardigans were in fashion, long cardigans that buttoned up the front. I wish they'd come back again.

velvet, needlecord, feather boas, fun fashion, :
modest shoulder covering lace wedding dresses :

good grooming, sleek shiny bobs :
Afghan Hounds,
spotted dick, jam rolypoly, scampi and chips
Dents leather gloves,
sheepskin ankle boots with sturdy rubber soles,
culottes
driving shoes
heavy belts over long sweaters,
French knickers
turnups on trousers so they hang better - why doesn’t that happen any more ?
fishnet tights,
real handkerchiefs,
long nighties
chintz!

Uggs - I love how comfortable they are

Split knee loons à la 70's Grin

Shorter hair styles. Every single woman under 40 seems to have long hair in a messy bun; it's boring.

Short hair a bit more common that it was 5 years ago I think.

Bootcut jeans for me.

And properly cut shirts - fed up with drop wasted shirts and shirts without bust darts. Looks like everyone is borrowing their boyfriends shirt, which only really looks good when you aren’t wearing anything else.

A tabard for housework.

Poontangle · 28/09/2023 04:22

Hats. They give SO much scope for fun and style but people are frightened of looking like a plonker. I blame George Galloway.

Bootcut jeans on all ages, not just teenagers recreating our nineties look! Bootcut jeans aee the most flattering jeans ever, i used to love wearing mine.

I'm in my 60s and never stopped wearing bootcut jeans. I've yet to see anyone staring at me in horror!

ichundich · 28/09/2023 04:47

Clothes that are fitted not baggy. Colourful clothes instead of: beige, black, white, grey and dusty pink. Bring back the 60ies or 40ies.

keiratwiceknightly · 28/09/2023 06:38

Curves. On women and in clothing. Darts.

Fashion this autumn/ winter is so bland and dull, struggling to find anything I want to buy.

Nubnut · 28/09/2023 07:39

A fab poem!

PuppyMcPupFace · 28/09/2023 07:44

Hacking jackets! First outfit I ever bought with my own money was a Chelsea Girl hacking jacket, a cream cotton Victorian style blouse and a pair of tan cords. This was mid seventies and I'd still wear it now!

Pashminas 😳
Kitten heels

Kind of with you on this. I cut my hair into a pixie and it was NOT well received by anyone! There is no variety in hairstyles. Lest to say I am now growing pixie out. I am a little bit old for it and need hair to cover my neck, but if I were younger I’d keep it. You never see girls with anything but long hair.

I see loads but they are they/thems or he/theys so presumably girls who don't want to be part of all that feel they need to keep their hair long or be proclaimed a man.

Doggymummar · 28/09/2023 07:49

I'm not a slave to fashion and wear loads of these. I just wear what suits me, headscarf, poncho, brooches, huge necklaces, all types of jeans legwarmers with winter boots hats, teddy bear coats. Does it matter?

Polis · 28/09/2023 08:53

I wouldn’t say I was, but things being in fashion usually means more choice in the shops and not having to rely on stuff bought years ago.

bombastix · 28/09/2023 08:55

Actual tailoring; most clothing now resembles sacking

I still remember my hacking jacket - I loved it, and yes I would still wear it now (although I doubt it would fit!).

Tadpolle · 28/09/2023 09:08

I wish skinny jeans hadn't become controversial and were still solidly in fashion for all ages.

TheMarzipanDildo · 28/09/2023 09:11

I think a lot of these are back in

Cantonet · 28/09/2023 09:18

I can't believe these answers.
Nearly all of them Are back in fashion.
Uggs, bright colours, ponchos, pashminas( I never stopped wearing them as scarves) & skinny jeans never went out in my county. Also a good coat & modest fashion ( M&S have been selling this for years).
The only items stated on here that aren't back in are tailoring ( unless you purchase very expensive designer fashion) & head scarves.

SerotinaPickeler · 28/09/2023 09:25

Scoop neck t shirts? All I can find is crew neck.

YorkieTheRabbit · 28/09/2023 09:28

Knee length skirts/dresses. I’m sick of midi length, they make me look dumpy.
Hats, love hats.
Normal lips, eyebrows and eyelashes.
