Do I want Crocs?

SergioPerezsSombrero · 19/09/2023 11:11

Whilst in town the other day, I saw some lilac crocs in the window of a shoe shop and they are a gorgeous shade. I'm mid 30s, but look young for my age and dress young too - think skinny jeans with a cartoon T-shirt from primark style (currently in love with my lilac Powerpuff Girls T-shirt from there!!)

Anyway, we're away on holiday next month and I'm thinking of getting them for the trip. But the question here is - do I want them or am I falling into the trap where my husband and stepdaughter will forever judge me for wearing them lol!!

Id also use them around the house - nipping to the bins, hanging washing out etc too...

Get them or get away from them?

Bought a pair of the two strap sandals in white for my holiday back in July. I haven't worn anything else since. They are heaven.

I bought my first pair of Crocs when they first came on the market many years ago - since then I have bought numerous pairs of wedge heeled flip flops which are so comfortable. Latest ones are Croc Brooklyn which have a thick sole and very strappy. Went into a new hairdressers the other day and all the girls have sand coloured ones as part of their uniform and they all love them. Wear the original style ones as slippers all the time.

Me and DH bought a pair each for our holiday. I was always very anti them, but 22yo dd persuaded me to try them. I bloody LOVE THEM!!!!

Stumpedasatree · 19/09/2023 13:30

I have some Croc sliders, newly purchased. I am late 40s. My teen DDs and their friends, they are all the rage.

Nat6999 · 19/09/2023 14:07

I've got pink fluffy ones I wear as slippers, I even dug my old gold ones out from last time they were in fashion.

Overthinkingperhaps · 19/09/2023 14:56

I bought 2 pairs recently.
Purple and Leopard print. And I wear the leopard ones out of the house. They're bloody amazing
And cool apparently...

Spacehopperno1 · 19/09/2023 15:07

I have crocs, use them as slippers. Someone gave them to me as they were too big for them. I got some paint on them once but most came off. Good for camping etc. My winter slippers are repurposed old sheepskin boots. Some things are so functional they don’t need to be stylish.

Petrine · 19/09/2023 16:03

I have pink ones... they're really cute. Wear instead of slippers in winter (with socks) so you can go outside without changing to shoes.

IloveJudgeJudy · 19/09/2023 19:31

I’ve got some normal and my newest acquisition is a pair of platform originals. They’re really comfortable and a bit narrower than the originals. I like them.

Aworldofmyown · 19/09/2023 19:34

I have coral pink ones. Late to the party, but I love them 😆

Cas112 · 20/09/2023 11:39

I ordered some new ones purely because of reading this post😂

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 20/09/2023 11:42

I find them super chavy at the moment 🫣

I always see people wearing cycling shorts with a t shirt and crocs and it just gives me the ick!

Practical for the beach or garden though just not for fashion purposes.

MiniEggsAllYear · 20/09/2023 11:45

I have a pale beige pair which I just love and I have never been a crocs person. I've even got a few little charms on them! I think they're very in fashion now aren't they, everyone seems to be wearing them from toddlers to teenagers and some of the the mums at school who dress very fashionably.

isthismylifenow · 20/09/2023 11:47

I have some from way back in the day when they were in the first time. Think perhaps 20 years back now. My dc would take the piss out of me for wearing them, just they would be in the garden, to the beach type shoes.

The only reason my dd has not claimed them now is because they are the original olive colour 😂

They are still going strong though. My ds however does still take the piss out of me and always puts them into "sports mode" if they are laying around.

Yes the originals are really wide. I can wear mine with those thick fluffy socks on in the winter and there is still room.

I eyed out the platform ones, but felt like they would be just that bit too loose and clumpy. It makes sense that they made these a bit narrower.

MentalBloch · 20/09/2023 12:02

Goodness op. I don't think there's any need for that is there?

Goldmember · 20/09/2023 12:05

Not a fan of standard style crocs but DH loves his. I have crocs flip flops that are years old and I live in them over the summer, so comfortable.

itsmyp4rty · 20/09/2023 12:07

They're fantastic for wearing round the garden. I wouldn't wear them any where else though, they look like clown shoes.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/09/2023 12:08

I bought a pair of leopard ones in the sale. I suffer with PF and thought they'd be fine indoors. I haven't had the bloody things off 🙃. I hated them with a passion but am so glad I got them. Looking at some furry ones for winter 🤷🏻‍♀️

coxesorangepippin · 20/09/2023 12:49

Very comfy with socks too

tortiecat · 20/09/2023 12:52

Life is short OP, buy the shoes.
I'm mid-30s too and love my bright blue pair. It's a slippery slope though as PP have said... I want them all now

Pushkinini · 20/09/2023 21:21

You definitely do. I have a pair of white ones with fluffy insides. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I own. I'm coveting both these at the moment and can't decide which pair to get.

Have to agree with previous here. I judged DH so hard when he got a pair and then I started borrowing them to pop outside. He bought me my own and I thought I’d just wear them at home. Not for public use.

A few months later I’m regularly seen in local petrol stations in my boot socks and crocs, covered in hay from doing my horses and I’ve stopped caring TBH. They’re so easy and comfy to slip on and off.

templeofartemis · 20/09/2023 22:23

My almost 20 year old grey felt Birkenstock Boston wool clogs finally died a death, and didn't want to replace then. Instead, I bought to a few pairs of classic Crocs which I intend to wear with all manner of socks, from chunky knitted argyles to glittery lurex, and everything in between.

HitsAndMrs · 20/09/2023 22:30

Yes, get them. They are judged by people who think they look daft/aren't fashionable but they walk around in bootleg jeans and ankle boots.
