Do I want Crocs?

SergioPerezsSombrero · 19/09/2023 11:11

Whilst in town the other day, I saw some lilac crocs in the window of a shoe shop and they are a gorgeous shade. I'm mid 30s, but look young for my age and dress young too - think skinny jeans with a cartoon T-shirt from primark style (currently in love with my lilac Powerpuff Girls T-shirt from there!!)

Anyway, we're away on holiday next month and I'm thinking of getting them for the trip. But the question here is - do I want them or am I falling into the trap where my husband and stepdaughter will forever judge me for wearing them lol!!

Id also use them around the house - nipping to the bins, hanging washing out etc too...

Get them or get away from them?

Get away! They’re grim imho.

Cas112 · 19/09/2023 11:20

You really do, they are like heaven on your feet.

In my 30 years of age they are my favourite shoes I have ever bought 😂

TheShinmeister · 19/09/2023 11:25

I’ve got the lilac ones!

Rosiem2808 · 19/09/2023 11:26

They are the best ! I have pink everyday/gardening/dog walking ones and then I have white platform ones for best. The lilac ones sound lovely

Torganer · 19/09/2023 11:27

If you like them, then buy them! Not sure what age has to do with it though? They’re hardly ‘young and trendy’, my parents and grandparents have more than one pair!!

colourwheelofortune · 19/09/2023 11:28

I'm wearing my pink ones now. they are lovely for summer and around the house...I'm all for comfort and they look cute too

PenelopePlant · 19/09/2023 11:43

I have a purple pair I bought years ago in a charity shop for £3. My daughter was horrified for ages, until they came into fashion of course, and then she spent £45 on a pair.

They are very comfortable, I use mine for gardening and taking out the bins. But I wouldn't wear them in public, and I wouldn't pay the price they are today.

Loads of people wear them out and about though, and I have no opinion on them. Apart from the platform ones, I can't help but judge those

felisha54 · 19/09/2023 11:56

They're actually really on trend with my dc and their friends. Dc wants a pair for Xmas and wants to decorate them with charms.

MissDollyMix · 19/09/2023 12:01

I live in mine at home - they're so comfy and practical but I never wear them out of the house!

addictedtotheflats · 19/09/2023 12:06

Do iiiit. I've got 3 pairs, 2 regular pairs and a lined pair for winter.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 19/09/2023 12:06

Yeah, it starts that way.

”I’ll just wear them around the house…”

”Oooo, I’ll buy some green ones for the garden…”

”I’ll just pop to the shop in them. No one will see…”

I now own for pairs and am currently at work wearing my navy work crocs. I’ve been looking up fur lined ones for winter.

It’s a slippery slope.

People mock me, yet I cannot give them up.

msbevvy · 19/09/2023 12:14

I don't know what looking young for your age has to do with it.

My DH and I have been wearing them most of the time for the past 10 years. Great for our problem feet.

It amused me greatly when our granddaughter and her friends started wearing identical pairs and my daughter borrowed a pair of mine.

I have since upped my game and acquired tie-dye effect ones and silver glitter ones though my current favourites are a lined lilac coloured pair. The lining makes them even more comfortable.

Hmm, I chucked my last pair about 5 years ago when I had been suffering from plantar fasciitis and realised that every time I wore them it started to flare up again. Got tempted to buy another (lovely purple) pair this summer for going swimming, putting bins out etc. Gradually ended up wearing them more and more as they are so easy to slip on and guess what, PF is back after a long absence. They are strictly for bin putting out only again now.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 19/09/2023 12:26

I have a pair at home as they're easy slip on and off to put my legs up on the couch, for example, but I don't actually find them that comfortable - for that I want Fitflops and not-Birkenstocks from TK Maxx!

Yes, they're definitely not good for when I've had plantar fascitis - long live Fitflops for that 😆

I don’t care what anyone thinks I walk my dog whilst wearing crocs for about 7 months of the year . They are the most comfortable shoes to wear .

Peachyscream · 19/09/2023 12:30

I have croc sliders! Oh how my family mocked me. Now my dd wears mine at every opportunity, dsis has bought a pair and I’ve noticed dh try to squeeze his feet in too.

NoWeaponsOnTheTable · 19/09/2023 12:30

They are basically socks and sandals territory so it's a resounding no from me.
Dh actually bought me some years ago and I had to swiftly get rid.
I think they are really awful and don't understand the resurgence in love for them!

ScattyHattie · 19/09/2023 12:31

I saw photo of friends teens in crocs other day and laughed that they've become fashionable again, when was there original hey day? I thought they were hideously ugly back then.

Would be good if it's a beach holiday to protect feet & fine being submerged in water. They are slippy on wet grass though and possibly some other surfaces. They are comfy but I find them too wide and sloppy to walk any distance.

I use crocs as slippers at home as fabric ones aren't compatible with a shedding dog. Sometimes wear out in summer to garden, but good to know I don't have to feel quite so ashamed now when I forget to change my footwear😆

gogomoto · 19/09/2023 12:32

I use mine for bins, nipping to garage, gardening and camping. Wouldn't be without mine

CyberCritical · 19/09/2023 12:33

I have a pair for round the house and garden, as do DH and DD, they are just so comfy, practical and easy to slip on. I don't wear them out though.

DurhamDurham · 19/09/2023 12:34

I've blue ones for the garden, pink ones for slippers and white ones for holidays. I used to take so many pairs of shoes on holiday but now I only take crocs for the day time and a couple of pairs of sandals for the evening time.

My husband and girls used to laugh at me but we've all got a few pairs each now. They are just so comfortable and easy to look after. I quick rub with the Pink Stuff and they look as good as new.

PollyAmour · 19/09/2023 12:37

I wear crocs for work (I'm a nurse) and they are hands down the most comfortable work shoes I have ever worn and I have been nursing for 30+ years.

My daughter bought me some bright pink ones for my birthday and I love them too. I don't give a toss about fashion and age appropriate footwear. In fact, a lot of my elderly patients wear them because they are easy to put on and take off, and the hiker version has non slip soles.

MariePaperRoses · 19/09/2023 12:39

No.

Girlwithapple · 19/09/2023 12:44

I've had a couple of pairs for years, I mainly wear mine around the garden although i have done a few dog walks in them. I was really surprised when my 18 year old nephew recently got a pair and apparently they are very popular with his age group now.
