I wear cardigans too often and I want something that will elevate my outfit to something more appropriate for going out/ going to work. Thoughts please and links please, please, please.

I’ve had my eye on the green velvet blazers from house of bruar but after reading about the hamster debacle I need an alternative! Can anyone suggest one?

I also love my cardigans; I have lots of different styles but feel like I need another option too

There are some very smart cardigans out right now. I've bought two in marks this month and they are smart enough for work but look great with jeans too

Long-sleeved dresses. I was a 40-something cardigan-ever-single-day wearer for god knows how long, and this year I started into long-sleeved and half-sleeved dresses, and haven't looked back. Winter will probably require the cardis having a resurrection, but so far it's so easy - no need for coordination or whatever, you just sling on a dress and that's it.

Jumpers - aka cardigans that are sewn up at the front?

Cantonet · 20/09/2023 09:28

More cardigans, but long with detail?
Wraps or ponchos?
I've just bought these two Cashmere cardigans which I wear unbelted & they look smart. I also have merino/cashmere wraps from Winser/Jigsaw/J Lewis which I bring out every year.

@duckydoo234 have you discovered the joys of jumpsuits?! I have a full length grey cardi I wear with a black jersey jumpsuit 😍

I have a lot of cardigans. I think I have some sensory issues so the softness and suppleness of cardigans works for me. I don't like the stiffness of jackets and I don't like feeling trapped inside a jumper. I also like the double layering effect of a top or dress underneath the cardi.

@ilovesushi I can stand up in a jacket/blazer, but I can't sit in one. Like you say, they are too stiff. I have found a few hoodie/cardi hybrids, like a cardigan but zip up the front and with a hood - they look a bit more modern.

@WhoStoleYourHighHorse but why can't you just keep wearing what you like? I don't understand.

I agree about choosing cardigans that are good quality, also with interesting details like above. I like jackets/blazers too, but sometimes I want an extra layer or something softer and cosier than a blazer.

I agree about looking in Vinted/ebay. I'm currently wearing a Vinted buy, John Rocha cape-style cardigan.

Oh I can and I will. Just looking to have an alternative for when I want to feel more "pulled together."
