Was looking for something else entirely. Then I saw these. I'm getting Rachel from friends vibes. Yay or nay?

I am not in the heels zone any more, which I'm gutted about (injury) but if I was, these would still be a tiny bit too high for me, like 1cm or something. I've found every time I've gone beyond my comfort height, I just don't get the wear out of the boots that I would otherwise get and they get left for 'best' or 'never' if I'm feeling like I don't want to totter. I wouldn't call these everyday boots for that reason, but young me might have not cared.

Gemi33 · 14/09/2023 17:04

I like them and I am also looking for some high heeled, knee high boots but they are so expensive! Any one seen any bargain boots to recommend??

samestyle · 14/09/2023 17:04

Nope couldn't deal with the heel as a daytime boot, I'd choose my trainers over them.

How bargain? I'm down a rabbit hole now!

I think they're beautiful but so expensive and very high. If you can afford them and can walk in them, I think they could be a really good addition to your wardrobe. I think a classic like that is beyond trends.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2023 19:43

Wait - they're brown? Personally, I'd find black or tan more versatile.

Gemi33 · 14/09/2023 19:45

Oh didn't realise theure brown, ideally I'd like black..and I do like a high heel!

How bargain?? As much as possible lol. Ideally I'd love to find something for around £50 but I know that may be unrealistic...

Are they?!? I thought they were black

@Puffwiththegreeneyes I like them 😊 I don’t think it’s a style that ever really goes out of fashion if I’m honest!

HOWEVER - reading all the blurb about them, they have leather soles. So for me it depends what you want out of them 😊 a leather sole isn’t the most suited to the UK climate - especially A/W 😅 So I would probably look for something else for that reason 😊

But I’m boring and sensible and sell shoes as my job so the practicalities immediately come to mind lol 🤣

Littlemissprosecco · 14/09/2023 19:50

I think they’re a classic, and being R and B will last for many years. If you love them, and they don’t break the bank…. Then you’ll not regret them

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2023 19:58

The link I clicked on in the OP takes me to a very dark brown pair.

Blankscreen · 14/09/2023 20:00

Yep defo Rachel from friends early 2000's vibe which is where fashion seems to be going. Personally I'm not keen but each to their own.

The also look really high and I couldn't see my self lasting more than about 1/2 hour in them

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/09/2023 20:02

Pretty classic shape, and R&B are usually great quality so they will last. I’d order them, or go I store, and see if you like them in the flesh.

ImDoingThisNow · 14/09/2023 20:03

Do you not think heels look rather old fashioned nowadays?

IMO, if you have to ask, you don’t want them enough.

AndIKnewYouMeantIt · 14/09/2023 20:04

They're expensive because the cost price of a pair of boots made in Europe (as opposed to cheap Chinese rubbish in which I include Clarks own factories) is about €160 and then you have to add in shipping from Italy to the UK, all R&B's costs plus some profit.

Anyway - yes, they are brown, which is a no for me. But in general they're a nice shape and very classic.

LimeCheesecake · 14/09/2023 20:10

They look a bit late 90s/early 00s, which is currently in fashion. (They also look a bit 70s, which sort of shows you could store them a bit if they go out of fashion and in a few more years, we’ll be doing those shapes again. )

I have some similar but zipped from last year that were £200ish from duo boots, I Wore them a lot with midi dresses and skirts. I’ve bought flat knee boots this winter as well to replace very old ones that have gone beyond being repaired. knee high boots tend to last years and be a good wardrobe staple, but you need to be someone who goes for skirts and dresses over trousers and the boots need to be comfy.

at that price you need to be certain you’ll wear them.

LimeCheesecake · 14/09/2023 20:15

They do them in black.

I would go for zip over pull on boots, they’ll look nice for longer.

and definitely try on in store to see if they are easy and comfy to walk in, they are very high for a high block heel.

Growlybear83 · 14/09/2023 20:24

I think they're lovely boots but quite pricey. But if you can afford them, I'd get them. I have no idea if they're in fashion at the moment, but what does that matter if you love them?

WhereAreWeNow · 14/09/2023 20:26

I like them but I couldn't walk in heels that high these days.

NatashaDancing · 14/09/2023 21:04

I like the shape of the boot and the toe, but not the heel, not so much the height but the clunkyness.

I think flat boots are always not "in fashion" as there will always be huge swathes of Doc, Solvair, Dubarry boot wearers around because (a) it's actually necessary for their lifestyles, hobbies and jobs or (b) that's just their thing. So wearing flat boots even if you're not a police person, jockey, soldier, workman, farmer etc is Ok because there's simply so many flat boots always in circulation.

Wearers of flat boots (and indeed floral dresses) will from time to time be fashionable but it doesn't matter when they aren't.

LadyBird1973 · 14/09/2023 22:11

Those kind of boots are ageless - women wore them in the 70s and the 90's and still wear them.

But 90s is fashionable anyway - going into urban outfitters with dd was like a tardis back to my teenage/early 20s.

AuntieDolly · 14/09/2023 22:38

I bet you'd feel everything through those thin leather soles.

PonyPatter44 · 14/09/2023 22:40

MissInterpretation · 14/09/2023 11:15

Crikey! I'm always shocked at how much people are prepared to pay for stuff. I've just been looking at boots and refuse to pay more than £50 absolute tops. Is it just me??!

I've got spectacularly fat little legs, and normal boots won't go near my calves. I pay a fortune for boots from a specialist Dutch company which look amazing and actually fit my stumpy calves.

Russooooo · 14/09/2023 22:48

Wait. Are knee high boots back ‘in’?

I feel like I have no idea any more.

Judging by the number of pairs I'm seeing in shops I'd say so. Same with heels - they were very much out but I'm seeing more and more in shops now.
