Am as White as a sheet and know we are in the middle of a heatwave.... but I cannot be arsed putting fake tan on.

Probably, but I'm wearing some right now and have been this summer. Also terrifying pale.
I look way better with it on Confused

Rainbowsandrainclouds1 · 08/09/2023 18:51

I think it is TBH.

I would say the global obsession with K and J beauty which focuses on paleness along with the younger generation being more health conscious have had an impact.

As someone who is transluscent on a good day and has spent my life asking if im feeling okay I am thoroughly embracing this.

oldestmumaintheworld · 08/09/2023 18:52

Not on my legs it isn't. I have the whitest, pastiest legs in Britain without fake tan. Going to carry on until it's time to go back into trousers. But up to you.

hamsterballs · 08/09/2023 18:53

I think strong dark fake tan is. I also think a real tan on people who shouldn't be that tanned is going out of fashion too.

Can't stop using it though 😆

Beanscene · 08/09/2023 18:58

@oldestmumaintheworld am sure your legs would look tanned next to mine... Mine are literally see through 🤣 I do look better with fake tan though.

If it is will someone please tell my 14 year old dd asap. I would love not to have stained bedsheets, towels and toilet seats!

Goldflap · 08/09/2023 19:08

It absolutely is daughters are young adults and they never use it anymore, I was told recently by a make up artist to embrace my paleness- I think it's more of the moment to just enjoy what you are.
I suppose it's what ever makes you personally feel good.

BeMoreBarbie · 08/09/2023 20:07

No fucking way! As the palest person on earth I would love for pale to be "in" but it isn't and will never be. Everyone wants a healthy glow not naturally looking like an unwell Victorian or like you've been locked up for a year. For the record, that's exactly how I look.

Yep, the 14-16 year old round here are going as Oomp Loompa as possible and apparently without any need for blending or avoiding patches 😖

Germolenequeen · 08/09/2023 20:44

No and I don't think it will tbh now that people are aware of the dangers of sun damage to skin 🤷‍♀️

Janieforever · 08/09/2023 20:45

No, I don’t think so, I wear one which is olive toned, and light, it gives a lovely natural colour, so much more flattering than my own pasty white in shorts or sleeveless top.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/09/2023 20:47

I really hope so. I am not a fan of the orange look. I am pale and don't care.

SecretVictoria · 08/09/2023 20:47

Not round here. Lots and lots girls use it.

AHelpfulHand · 08/09/2023 20:47

It looks a mess after 2 days or so.

it stinks, it stains stuff and it looks fake when applied.

horrible stuff

PastTheGin · 08/09/2023 20:48

I work in a secondary school and there seem to be far fewer orange girls around these days. I can’t remember the last time I saw an adult with obvious fake tan.

Endlesssummerof76 · 08/09/2023 20:49

No but formulas have improved so colours are much more natural.

nutmegnook · 08/09/2023 20:52

Not sure as there is more awareness on the dangers of sun and uv rays causing skin cancer. I prefer to use at tropez in summer than sun bathe all
Day and risk skin cancer. I have heard others say the same.

SpamFrittersYouSay · 08/09/2023 20:57

I'm probably being judgemental but I find it odd, seeing a family out and about where the father and children are pasty yet mum is mahogany .
Just saying . And yes, you do you etc...

I don't like tans, real or fake.

Love my fake tan, no idea if it looks fake or not but buggered if I'm going around looking like something that was dug up if I can possibly help it! Much better than actual tanning too.

JamSandle · 08/09/2023 21:02

Yes definitely. People are embracing health and being natural.

BeMoreBarbie · 08/09/2023 21:08

@NatashaDancing but would you feel the same if you looked naturally dead? Assuming you don't, of course. Grin

Mine does none of those things. Tan has moved on since the 90's! You wouldn't know I wore it.

Pale was in for hundreds of years. Tan has only been in for about 100 years. As with all things fashion, it will cycle again.
