Am posting this in the hope that someone's says yes🤣
Am as White as a sheet and know we are in the middle of a heatwave.... but I cannot be arsed putting fake tan on.

I’m the palest ginger ever but I hate not having any on, I normally like a Dove moisturiser or garnier - but I’ve just been using the stuff that develops in 1 hour because I cba going to bed sticky in this heat.

Bondi Sands do one specific to your skin tone/under tone that develops in an hour then wash off but it keeps developing as the day goes on which is really good.

My legs are beyond white. They're a kind of pale blue.
Leg make up works for me. Much better than fake tan

AuntieMarys · 08/09/2023 21:23

Never use it. I embrace my paleness.

NatashaDancing · 08/09/2023 21:35

BeMoreBarbie · 08/09/2023 21:08

@NatashaDancing but would you feel the same if you looked naturally dead? Assuming you don't, of course. Grin

I don't think I look dead, but I've always preferred pale skin so looking naturally dead is still a better look.

Fatpigsinblankets · 08/09/2023 22:26

I bloody love fake tan. My top half goes brown really quickly from running / dog walking but my legs take forever to tan, so I fake tan so I’m more even. It’s EXACTLY the same colour as my real tan - a good fake tan is very hard to spot these days. It’s doesn’t really smell anymore either - Even in the last 5-10 years it’s improved enormously. I never think pale skin looks better than a light tan - tan all the way IMO!

sunglassesonthetable · 08/09/2023 22:26

I love looking tanned. I look much better. My legs definitely look better even if it's just a flash of ankle.

It's much healthier and safer to fake tan than get real one.

Roll on I say 👍🏻

Janieforever · 08/09/2023 20:45

No, I don’t think so, I wear one which is olive toned, and light, it gives a lovely natural colour, so much more flattering than my own pasty white in shorts or sleeveless top.

Ooh, I like the sound of this - which one do you use?

Justcallmebebes · 08/09/2023 22:31

Nope. Just spent last 20 min fake tanning my legs. Top half is brown due to weather so I look weird if legs don't match and it's shorts weather tomoro Grin

HeadNorth · 08/09/2023 22:33

It is definitely out of fashion. But I suspect it is like skinny jeans on Mumsnet - cold dead hands, etc Grin

There is nothing wrong with pale skin, it looks far better to me than fake tan.

Cece92 · 08/09/2023 22:42

I usually crack the fake tan out in September until April time. However due to the heatwave it's staying put. I am really tanned naturally so like to keep up appearances lol xx

Meecrowavay · 08/09/2023 23:43

Very much so.

No fucking way! As the palest person on earth I would love for pale to be "in" but it isn't and will never be. Everyone wants a healthy glow not naturally looking like an unwell Victorian or like you've been locked up for a year. For the record, that's exactly how I look.

This. This. This.

I was waiting for DC to finish an activity today and saw someone with similar colouring to me wearing a short while dress. Her arms and legs were the same colour as the dress. It wasn't a good look. All I could think was that she'd look a million times better with fake tan!

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 09/09/2023 00:04

I used to tan when I was younger and loved how I looked and think became a bit obsessed with it and then when I had my son at 30 could not be arsed with it. Don't like fake tan and all the hassle of it but everyone I know wears it but so many look orange and don't like the look on the face. I think I stopped going in sun when noticed sun affecting my skin. I like my face pale and goes with my black hair and green eyes but I do agree body looks nicer and healthier with a bit of a glow but cannot tan my body and keep my face pale which thank god looks good as kept face out of sun so don't have wrinkles. I know for a fact my sis would love to dose me in fake tan on my body ha!! Maybe next year will do a bit as can wear more summery clothes if bit of a tan but cannot bare the sun nowadays as in peri-meno. My sis also uses a really good separate face tan.

According to the 25, 23 and 19yo daughters, clean girl aesthetic / old money / quiet luxe are what is in. So a big move away from mega deep tan / long nail art / overly plumped lips / massive dark brows.

A natural looking fake tan is the holy grail IMO so would love recommendations as I'm lily white and cack handed when it comes to applying it.

keffie12 · 09/09/2023 00:09

Well, for the first time in my life this year, I started wearing it on holiday.

Ad i have aged, I can't stay out in the sun like I used to and have never really browned on the legs.

A friend uses it I found out this year, as she always has a healthy glow.

I decided on her advice to start using it. I love it. I used it on holiday. I swear a lot of people do the same now looking around.

From white skin to dark skin in a few days, especially on their legs, they have to be using it in their apartments on a night.

I don't go for a dark tanning moose as I'm pale skinned. I do like it, though. I've continued using it now that I'm home.

I'm back, continuing with it, and I love the healthy glow it gives me. I'm not wearing a foundation now, either because of using tan moose.

Total life changer for me

Seddon · 09/09/2023 00:10

Deep, obviously fake is definitely out.

I think skin which is obviously meant to be pale looks beautiful as it is

I'm olive skinned and just look pallid and a bit grey in the depths of winter, a bit of gradual tan brings me back to life.

Somanycats · 09/09/2023 00:17

Definitely not fashionable for young women round here. Peak mahogany here would be aged mid 40s I'd say.

This is the one I use. See my post above. I've only just started using it this year. I bought the glove to go with it, too, for putting it on.

I'm quite heavy-handed and found it's easy enough to use. You can use it more regularly than once a week to build up your tan.

I also use a back applicator to do the back. I simply attach the glove to the applicator to do it. Make sure you massage it in well.

A few squirts on the glove for each part of the body are enough. It doesn't take that long to do once you get used to it

Fake tan, fake teeth, fake tits... No thanks! Natural is the way to go.

LifeExperience · 09/09/2023 00:33

I hope it's going out of fashion. I really don't like looking at orange people. Reminds me of Donald Trump.

I use this one.

the guide colour looks dark, but once you wash off, it leaves a light olive tone, so far the best I’ve found. I also sleep on white sheets, no staining and no biscuit smell.

I've always hated my naturally pale skin, yesterday it was so hot I actually went out without fake tan in a summer dress. Felt very self conscious 😅 after about 10 mins I realised nobody actually cares.

@Querypost i agree natural is the way to go.... But I always find that women with fake tan, big tits and white teeth are definately more attractive to men. And men will always go for big tits🤣natural or fake.

I have a dark natural tan because I am of Cypriot heritage and was there 3 weeks . I didn’t even try to sunbathe and I’ve just gone a dark brown colour
I think it depends on the person heritage and natural skin tone. There are some people from my heritage who are very pale and can’t tan either.
all skin colour is beautiful. Fake tans are getting better back in the day I used to see people walking around with streaky orange tans . Not so much now and you can’t always tell

@oldestmumaintheworld am sure your legs would look tanned next to mine... Mine are literally see through 🤣 I do look better with fake tan though.

If it's bothering you and you can't be bothered with proper fake tan, you could just get one of the summer sun type, moisturisers. Just cover yourself with it like you'd apply moisturiser and then you're ready to go. Will give just a light tanned colour (come in 2 or 3 shades I think), doesn't look orange and is quick to apply.

I've never done proper fake tan and rarely tan much naturally, esp my legs, Most I've ever done is the moisturiser stuff if going out for a day event occasionally.
