Small cross-body bag for holiday

everyonebutme · 08/09/2023 13:24

Can anyone recommend a small cross-body bag that I could use on holiday, or just any time I go out. I really only need it to hold my phone and reading glasses so nothing to big and bulky.

When choosing a crossbody bag, consider the material, color, and style that best suits your preferences and outfits.

When choosing a chatbot consider whether it sounds like it's a man mansplaining handbags to women

Is what world is Massimo Dutti "budget"??

Well, when it comes to bags, I think it is budget.
You get great quality - and in my word I use bags for years, so it is not a Celine for 2k

WasteOfPaint · 18/09/2023 11:48

The Uniqlo one doesn't look remotely waterproof?

rileynexttime · 18/09/2023 15:12

Uniqlo describe it as having a water repellant finish.
Also specifies do not wash, do not dry clean.

I recommend a Kipling small bag which you can purchase from QVC.
You can also pay in interest free payments over 3 months.

Then you are coming from a privelidged position.

I have 3 Uniqlo ones. Bloody brilliant they are!
Normally, day to day, I have the phone, the keys, poo bags, dog treats, a book (the kindle does fit in there just fine. So does an umbrella), a cotton bag for shopping etc. it’s a mini Tardis, love it!

I am not.
I prefer quality vs. quantity.
I have two very expensive designer bags and a couple of Mulberrys - but for everyday use, I have had the same bag for over a year.
If you divide the cost its like 2pounds per day

so Massimo Dutii with amazing quality comes to pence per day

This is almost a definition of privilege and the basis of the 'Vimes Boot Theory'

Someone that can afford to spend £2000 on a bag can buy a bag that lasts a life time.
Someone that can only afford a bag that costs £50 will have to make do for the time it lasts before they replace it. If you can afford £2000 for a bag, your privileged, that's almost 4 months rent for some of us poor folk. 🤣

In fairness, the OP didn't specify that it had to be a budget bag.

My personal favourite is the Louis Vuitton Alma BB but some people find it a bit small so the speedy might be more practical if you want space for an umbrella etc. I also love the Gucci Marmont camera bag.

However, I also have the Uniqlo bag and highly recommend it too as it is surprising spacious

Probably because in normal person world it goes without saying that bags don't cost hundreds of pounds.

I like Kiplings, which have been mentioned a few times

If you shop around and look for sales you can get a small one for £50 or so but I still think that's a lot for what they are.

I have a silver bag that's called a phone bag, your phone just goes in the pouch on the front, so easy to get in and out. It has card slots in the zip section and easily fits keys, glasses & tissues.

I have two small anti- theft cross body bags from Pac Safe that I always use on holiday.

I recently bought one for £1 in Tiger - it's brilliant 🤩

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 18/09/2023 23:49

I'm in love with my PomPom London lilac city bag - only downside is I got a plus sized one and while it fits all my crap in, it can start to feel a bit heavy. Have just bought another one in a more autumnal colour!

For holidays the normal size would do fine I imagine - still plenty of summery colours online!

I did the same, it's too heavy but I love the Mayfair,I use that all the time.

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 19/09/2023 00:10

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor I was debating between the Mayfair and the City in the plus sizes then the Mayfair sold out in the colour I wanted! So I snapped up the City in case they all vanished. I may end up with both Blush

The Mayfair might be a bit on the small side but I like the extra pocket... decisions decisions!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/09/2023 00:25

The Mayfair plus I think is a good compromise.
