Small cross-body bag for holiday

everyonebutme · 08/09/2023 13:24

Can anyone recommend a small cross-body bag that I could use on holiday, or just any time I go out. I really only need it to hold my phone and reading glasses so nothing to big and bulky.

I think the Uniqlo one is cheap and nasty! Depends what you’re looking and the budget

I can't understand the love for it either tbh but people seem to rave about it.

My suggestion is Pom Pom London Mayfair or Mayfair plus.

When choosing a crossbody bag, consider the material, color, and style that best suits your preferences and outfits.

When choosing a chatbot consider whether it sounds like it's a man mansplaining handbags to women

Primark do their own version of the Uniqlo bag for only £7! I bought it in khaki last week, love it.

I was just scrolling though to see if anyone had said this. I’ve got the Primark Khaki one too and it’s brilliant.

TheFormidableMrsC · 16/09/2023 21:45

Roka or Uniqlo. Or Uniqlo dupes in Primark for half the price.

buckeejit · 16/09/2023 22:12

It is basic & doesn't really make sense but I bought the Uniqlo ones at the start of summer
For a trip & it's all I've used since. Even bought a corduroy one for autumn. It really is great for everyday, city breaks & lots of walking.
It can be long or short crossbody or worn as a bumbag

Leggytigberk · 16/09/2023 22:39

'Pavers' have a leather one in various colours, I just bought one, it seems OK for quality.
I know a deeply unfashionable company but I don't think it would show you up.
It can be delivered to your chosen store without extra charge.

Actually I quite the corduroy Uniqlo bag.

Same!

Same here with the Uniqlo, I bought the nylon one in the early summer thinking it would be useful for things like carrying keys and phone to the gym and it's the only bag I've used since, apart from the odd night out needing something smarter. Just bought a corduroy one as well.

cactidream · 17/09/2023 09:18

for a budget solution but great quality, try Massimo Dutti
they have super lovely bags

rileynexttime · 17/09/2023 15:27

Oh @cactidream I was anticipating another lovely browse until I saw the prices.
That's not my idea of budget.

buckeejit · 17/09/2023 17:18

I don't consider massimo dutti budget by any means but it did remind me of the brand & just bought one of their lovely khaki mock croc leather bags on Vinted for £20-there's a light blue one on there too!

RavenT · 17/09/2023 17:46

I have the Uniqlo one and whilst it's super comfortable and light to wear, I always struggle to find little things in it (car keys, chewing gum for e.g.). I then get frustrated and go back to my trusty Kipling. I need to have pockets or sections even if I'm not carrying much.

Milliways · 17/09/2023 17:53

The Healthy Back Bags are great, different sizes so I have a bag left that clips into the bigger bag or can be used on its own depending on what you need. Loads of different pockets.

Geminijes · 17/09/2023 19:20

Fossil have some nice cross body bags in their outlet section. Once you add items to the shopping cart they are reduced by a further 30% then there’s a code for another 25% off. Well worth a look.

Code is ADD25

Fan of the Uniqlo one too. They have just brought out cord ones too, perfect for Autumn and Winter.

This - I now have five different colours and I may have ordered the khaki corduroy (and the orange)…..

Ooh I like the Uniqlo bag. I've got this one from M&S for my holiday and haven't stopped wearing it...

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/09/2023 20:59

Is what world is Massimo Dutti "budget"??

noodlezoodle · 17/09/2023 21:22

I don't know what I'm doing wrong with my Uniqlo bag because it doesn't feel like I can fit that much in it! I got suckered in by that tiktok video where the girl is pulling stuff out of it like it's Mary Poppins' carpet bag, but mine doesn't hold nearly as much.

EquallyDetermined · 17/09/2023 22:54

I normally have the following in mine:

Phone
Airpods
Keys
Slim card wallet
Small coin purse
Small pouch with lipbalm, tissues etc
Fold-up nylon shopping bag
Couple of pens
Hand gel

and there's quite a lot of space left but I don't like it too look too bulging.

I can also get my a5 diary in there but it does make it look a bit stretched and awkward.

Insommmmnia · 17/09/2023 23:03

I recently carried the following fairly regularly in my uniqlo bag

Phone
Purse
Lipbalm
Pack of tissues
Small notebook (a6 maybe?)
Pen
Bottle of water
Silk shirt or Uniqlo pack a mac type coat
Headphones
Shopping bag

TooOldForThisNonsense · 17/09/2023 23:12

I like Roka bags

Spacehopperno1 · 17/09/2023 23:21

I read about the Uniqlo bag on here. I like the way I can look in it and get things out easily with one hand
