Moisturiser

snygghygge · 01/09/2023 21:04

It is very spendy but the Bioeffect EGF serum actually works

BeverlyBrook · 01/09/2023 21:08

Vitamin c serum, 5 drops of high quality olive oil, and in the daytime a high SPF.

MintCar · 01/09/2023 21:08

What are your actual concerns?

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 21:48

@MintCar ageing/fine lines really. I'm a bit old school in that I cleanse, moisturise, use SPF but I don't use any acids/serums.

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 21:49

@BeverlyBrook I've been looking at a vit c serum. Do you put it under or over moisturiser?

OP posts:
gillygeey · 01/09/2023 21:50

@snygghygge eek that's expensive but if it works

OP posts:
MintCar · 01/09/2023 21:51

Spf and vit c AM.
PM Double cleanse. Maybe look at a low grade retinol for fine lines. A good serum and moisturiser to hydrate. Hyaluronic acid. An essence in place of toner.

It is super spendy. But I find that it really works. And I love that you don't have to faff about with a gazillion different products. I basically just use a cleanser and the EGF serum day and night. Sometimes in winter I use a little bit of day cream on colder days. It's the easiest routine in the world. When I can afford it I like to do their 30-fay treatment too. Even more prohibitive cost wise but the results are very good

I probably wouldn't add actives in as they are all marathon type products. I'd eat lots of fruit and veg and good fats, extra moisturiser and a vit c serum. It's expensive but the Oskia capsules are amazing for me.

Long term look at Tretinoin

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 22:03

@MintCar when would i put the hyaluaronic acid on?

OP posts:
CassiniG · 01/09/2023 22:04

Vaseline as your last skincare step at night over serums and or moisturiser.

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 22:04

@snygghygge less steps does appeal

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 22:04

I use Boots protect and perfect…or whatever the one is for older skin!! It’s got retinol products, serums oils, face masks…everything you’d need. Whatever the magic internment is in the Boots products it could be licensed as a dermatological product so it does actually repair skin. I also like the L’Occitane Imortalle range but no idea if it just smells lush but isn’t really doing much else.

MintCar · 01/09/2023 22:27

Hyaluronic acid would be after a toner / essence and before moisturiser. It helps with hydration. It's not an exfoliating acid.

RichTeee · 01/09/2023 22:30

For quick results I like the trinny london vit c
It is on the expensive side approx £60. But of all the vit c's I've tried it did make the most difference to the evenness of my skin. It faded some sunspots and freckles and gave a real glow.

I've tried a lot of different vit c's; I really want to try the "gold standard" skinceuticals vit c & ferulic acid but it comes in at around £120 so just too much for me as it would probably be used within 3 months.

However I do spend on biologique recherche P50 lotion, which is a strong acid toner with PHAs and BHAs. I sometimes do their regime of using it x2 daily for 50 days which makes a real difference to the congestion I have in my skin. I have tough rhino hide skin especially on my cheeks. But you can't use this regime when using retinols.

If I am using retinol I'll just use this a few mornings a week. It's about £110 for a 250ml bottle and can be bought online from embassy of beauty or inshore at liberty ( I think inshore you can get it in smaller bottles which are cheaper). I bought a bottle to split with my mum and its lasted well over a year.

For skin plumping I like the bondi Sands peptide serum which is £8.99 on amazon.

And I don't spend a lot on moisturiser, anything with a good amount of glycerin and urea in it suit me very well.

BeverlyBrook · 01/09/2023 23:21

Vitamin c first
Then hyuralonic acid
Then SPF
Then oil drops

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 01/09/2023 23:29

First of all the glow comes from within not a bottle so make sure you nail these basics otherwise you’re wasting your time…

Drink water. Drink lots of water from first thing in the morning all through the day.

Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake, they are terrible for premature aging especially alcohol, same for smoking too, the worst things for your skin along with the sun.

Get a good multivitamin, WellWoman are great so are the ones specifically for hair skin and nails, take daily as per the instructions.

Sleep. Make sure you’re sleeping well and getting proper rest.

Eat a good balanced diet with lots of vegetables.

Double cleanse at night, consider an acid 2-3 times per week such as Glycolic (Ordinarys 7% toner is superb)

I tried that a few years ago, and was just thinking last week I'd like to use it again, but couldn't remember the name.

I agree it works well. I tried it as a friend's skin looked amazing and I asked her what she was using, so I don't think I was just kidding myself that it made a difference to my own skin as well.

Lottapianos · 02/09/2023 09:58

I would say that the lifestyle stuff (diet, water, sleep etc) is at least as important as the products, if not more

You're already in a routine of cleansing and moisturising so that's great. I really like the Revolution 12.5% Vit C serum, costs about a tenner and gives a lovely glow. Use after cleansing, before moisturizer, morning only. Only use retinol at night, never morning. SPF 30 at least, every single day, separate product, don't rely on any SPF in skincare or makeup

DrMarshaFieldstone · 02/09/2023 10:03

For texture and glow in the short -
medium term you need a glycolic acid and either a niacinamide serum or vitamin C cream. If you don’t currently use any acids you will notice a dramatic difference within a month or so.

Don’t start tret before the event. It’s a long-term measure and you don’t want to be peeling on the big day.
