What do you think of this bridal set. I'm wondering if the pink is a bit childish.

These would be for me, already long time married but looking to upgrade our rings possibly.

I love it! Now I want a new ring. I can imagine my DS wanting something like that if anyone is crazy enough to marry her 😂

Stravaig · 04/08/2023 16:33

If you're replacing bridal rings, I'd caution to be sure that you have a long-standing love of pink gemstones, and are not just having a fleeting Barbie moment!

GrinAndVomit · 04/08/2023 16:39

I think the pink is lovely. Does it suit your personality? Will you love wearing it? If yes, then go for it xx

Haha it's definitely nothing to do with Barbie but I do know what you mean.

Will need to give it some more thought before rushing into anything.

It sounds as though we should have a trip to the jewellery quarter, do they give you the hard sell in these independent jewellery shops?

Definitely don't want to be spending more than £1200 but now thinking could pair something up with my current wedding band.

Thank you for the suggestions, some of those are beautiful although the darker stones aren't to my taste I don't think.

Morganite isn't very hard wearing so be mindful of that.

It’s okay - but can I implore you to look around some antique or second hand jewellers first as you would be amazed at what you could get for £1200!

This.

I'd consider where I'm getting my rings more than design first. You can design your own ring with proper diamond authentication from a jeweller in antwerp for same price. Do you really need a new wedding band or could you just get the engagement ring updated?
I sent an image of ring I liked to antwerp jewellers and we designed exact ring along with being able to pick the exact stone using the Gem Certificates and price and they sent it to me. When I got it valued it was worth twice what I paid.

This sounds really good. Could you post details of which jeweler you chose and contact details.

I got my engagement ring at Birmingham jewelry quarter. I found a ring I liked but wanted a bigger diamond so they bought one in for me and made it to order. No hard sell. I looked in every single shop up one side of the road and down the other.

Anonmousse · 04/08/2023 17:13

I work in the trade and do a very small amount of private sales. I think you'd be surprised at what you can have made to your own spec, and budget away from "name" jewellers.
I would always do my best to keep within a clients budget and usually recommend what I think is nicest/best value rather than the most expensive option.
(I don't work in the jewellery Quarter so can't recommend anyone though)

UWOT1 · 04/08/2023 17:13

Its not for me. I hate pink but I think if you like pink it's pretty. Have you considered looking at second hand jewellery. Brighton has an amazing jewellery Quarter

I like morganite but think that set is more of a dress ring. The high shoulders and shape are not suitable for everyday, you need something more robust and possibly a harder stone. There are other options for pink like pink sapphire too. If you go to a good jeweller they can advise

BungleandGeorge · 04/08/2023 22:34

An insurance valuation for a ring is generally quite a bit higher than purchase price- it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve got a bargain!

Pontiouspilate · 04/08/2023 22:46

It looks like over-priced high street crap. If you like the style go and look for an independent

This is a link to all the main jewellers so you can plan a visit. Have a look at Artfull Expression as they represent a lot of independent jewellers/silversmiths who will work on a design with you. You could create something really personal.

Very lovely rings, Op. I agree with posters that the pretty blush stone would look nice in gold, and that v shaped wedding bands look a little strange by themselves, and you’ll want to wear the band by itself sometimes.

fridaynight1 · 05/08/2023 00:16

Not for me but no, I don't think it looks childish. If you love it then go for it.

SammyScrounge · 05/08/2023 01:20

The rings are beautiful. And you should have the one you like.

Ohdofuckofdear · 05/08/2023 01:21

Very pretty and if you like it you should go for it, life's to short to worry about what anyone else thinks.

A bit to think about. Thanks for replies.

I probably should have said, with discounts etc these rings would actually cost £858 rather than £1200. Not sure if that changes opinions at all?

I know nothing about jewellery. Currently we both have completely plain wedding bands. I don't wear jewellery in the house at all as soon as I'm home all jewellery comes off. But I'm pretty sure I'd lie something a bit bolder and a bit more blingy. I only tend to wear silver or white gold.

Found these one too.

I think this one is very pretty.

greyhairnomore · 05/08/2023 05:24

Another vote for antique jewellery. Sorry , but I don't think they look very nice.

Lonecatwithkitten · 05/08/2023 06:00

My concern would be that the main stone is only held by three claws making it easily lost.
There are definitely small independent designers who would make you a beautiful ring for far less than that with higher quality stone. I have a Watermelon Touramaline s

Lonecatwithkitten · 05/08/2023 06:02

Sorry sent too sooner set with diamonds, green and pink sapphires of different intensities in an unplanted white gold so a warm white which was less from an independent.

doglover90 · 05/08/2023 09:07

Morganite is notorious for going cloudy so I'd avoid https://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/why-is-my-brilliant-earth-morganite-so-ugly-and-cloudy-now/
