maintaining your ladygarden

having gone for the "all or nothing" approach for the first time today, I am very pleased with the results (surprisingly enough). Now how often do I have to shave/re apply hair removal cream? and any tips on how to avoid ingrowth?

Sorry if this has been done to bits before...can't find other threads

lol
my forays into the nothing approach have led me to beleive that regrowth and ingrowns are just not worth the hassle.

i now have a pretty close to nothing approach (when i can be bothered) which involves pinching dps electric razor, flicking out the sideburns trimmer bit and using that to cut the hairs really short. it looks like nothing, doesnt feel too bad (theres little short hairs but they are not sharp like shaven stubble), and they dont have to come back through the skin , which itches, and avoids the prob of ingrown hairs altogether.

if you do want be completely bald, you have to find a really good waxer, a v good pair of tweezers and an ability to bend.

i once had a leg and bikini wax with green wax, which had tea tree in it apparently. she was an experienced waxer and i never got any ingrwon hairs from that wax. still get itchy regrowth tho!

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 28/02/2008 08:59

Ah, now its clear, dont know if i could deal with the regrowth anyway, imagine the itch

BoysOnToast · 28/02/2008 09:00

cod.

yes, i first and only time for years afterwards, that i shaved it all off, i was 18. i took one look in the mirror and was horrified to see me looking like a little girl. i knew that if my boyf at the time had been turned on by that, id never have been able to look at him again! so i avoided him for a bout 3 weeks till it regrew. seriosuly.

DualCycloneCod · 28/02/2008 09:03

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 28/02/2008 09:03

Boys, that sounds like a lot of hassle, i dont have the sodding time. Glad to say i've been put off, cheers you guys have probably saved me weeks of scratching my fanjo! Now you've done your good deed for the day, go forth and spread the good message of hairy fanjo's across the nation!

BoysOnToast · 28/02/2008 09:05
  • scummy and her hairy fanj!
slim22 · 28/02/2008 09:06

I do as boysontoast with sides neatly waxed post trimming.
Baldy out of question. For reasons given by cod & nightmarish prospect of regrowth/itchiness.

chopster · 28/02/2008 09:08

It doesn't itch after you've been doing it a while, I think mine only itched at the very beginning. I jsut use a razor, nothing special and have never had ingrowing hairs. I think I tend to run a razor over it quickly in the shower every 3 days or so, since a stubbly ladygarden isn't very attractive.

slim22 · 28/02/2008 09:12

PS I have my own electric razor now - phillips ladyshave - adjustable to 4 hair lenghts

noddyholder · 28/02/2008 12:00

I think there is huge pressure everywhere to remain 'forever young'.Skinny bodies boobs and hips considered podgy and being hairless Men just don't have this crap

MissingMyHeels · 28/02/2008 12:06

I just hate hair - even when single with no prospect of anyone seeing it I get waxed because I just dislike hair, ick.

As for regrowth/ingrowing hairs etc, I recommend 'InGrow Go' Hereand if you're being waxed try and find a hot waxer instead of a strip waxer, less pain and less ingrowing hairs.

ZZMum · 28/02/2008 12:57

I just shave every day and use an exfoliator --my ladygarden is developing its own beauy regime.. no ingrowing hairs, itching or grief...

michaelad · 28/02/2008 12:59

Whow, I don't log on for a couple of hours and all of a sudden all these replies. Thanks!
Well, so far (day 3) nothing itches..so I might just grab the razor in the shower in a couple of days and hope for the best.

MyMummyisaScummymummy, I used hair removal cream although it said not to use in that area. Didn't sting or irritate the skin at all though.

Does waxing down there not hurt like buggery?

OP posts:
lou33 · 28/02/2008 13:01

i shave it everytime i am in the shower

just becomes routine really, and i dont get itchy as it grows back

michaelad · 28/02/2008 13:04

makes sense but doesn't that aggrevate your skin lots? I mean, I pretty much shower every day.

Not really the best of examples but if my hubby were to shave (his face mind you) everyday his skin would just go ballistic!

lou33 · 28/02/2008 14:07

its fine for me, but every other day would be ok if not
