What are your 15 year old girls wearing

Just that really. My dd is growing out of her clothes. She always makes some odd fashion choices - for instance she has got a pair of dm's that she wears with jeans that basically look like she is wearing her school shoes!!

I bought her some stuff from superdry for the holidays but she needs some more clothes and shoes. Are flip flops totally out now?

Shes slim, (size 8) but curvy and tall. Flat stomach that she doesn't mind showing.

T-shirts, shorts and leggings. Boots with everything.

User68253 · 24/07/2023 09:20

I thought Superdry was for middle aged people? By middle aged I mean... older than me and I'm 38 😂. My 15 year old doesn't follow current fashion, she wears anything she likes from tutus, to my old clothes, vintage, random things she finds in charity shops or Vinted. I buy her basics usually from H&M or Lindex.

Imdrivinginmygetawaycar · 24/07/2023 09:20

One for mine is very into Lucy and yak dungarees, Dms. Other one is leggings and tops and trainers.

I think I'd follow what your daughter is interested in tbh at 15!

Imdrivinginmygetawaycar · 24/07/2023 09:21

And yes go to a shopping centre - do H and M and similar and see what she wants?

CindersAgain · 24/07/2023 09:22

Is she not choosing her own things?

My DD buys from

PLT
Bershka
Primark
Urban outfitters for the odd expensive thing.

Piyo · 24/07/2023 09:23

Is there a reason why she isn’t shopping for herself?

The “in” Girls round here wear big baggy parachute trousers, flared jeans, wide leg cargos with teeny little vest tops. Big oversized hoodies. Trainers are Nike Jordan’s.

Bigminnie1 · 24/07/2023 09:24

Mine is 15 and bits most of her stuff in Urban Outfitters, Brandy Melville with some things from Primark. Depending on the weather, it's a mixture of crop tops with trackies or wide leg jeans and a hoodie or crop tops with short shorts. Shoes are usually New Balance or Nikes. If she has a party, it is a short skirt and top or a short fitted dress. She now has one long stewpot summer dress too. She also has some more floaty short tops.
However, let your DD find her own style. Bear in mind , if you do go to Urban or Brandy, they aren't cheap so look out for sales.

Strappy dress!

cocksstrideintheevening · 24/07/2023 09:28

Does she not go shopping with her friends? What do they wear? No teenagers in superdry here!

LobsterCrab · 24/07/2023 09:32

Mine is wearing denim shorts / skirt or long linen trousers with strappy tops. She likes H&M, ASOS, Shein. Nike trainers or crocs. She doesn't let me buy her clothes any more!

Ladyface · 24/07/2023 09:39

Mine lives in cargo trousers (cuff hem ones), Nike Pro cycling shorts, plain black leggings or wide leg jeans all with cropped tops, big baggy zip up hoodies and Nike trainers. Also, the occasional tube dress. She shops mainly at New Look or H&M.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 24/07/2023 09:40

My DTs are 15... I don't shop for them anymore...they have very different styles, but collectively they mostly shop in Hollister, Superdry, Oh Polly, Pretty Little Thing, ASOS, Etsy, H&M... a mixture of tiny dresses, crop tops, graphic tees, jeans, cargo pants, joggers, wide leg linen trousers, cropped cardigans and hoodies mostly. Shoes are Vans, Nike, Converse, New Balance, Docs and Crocs...

bunchofboys · 24/07/2023 09:42

No, she does buy things for herself, but she is not great with fashion and just buys weird stuff, - not what i see others wearing or she will put it together strangely. She has a really nice dress from urban outfitters for example but will wear it with normal socks (not trainer socks) and trainers or dm's and it just looks awful. Its mainly the footwear I think. She is not terribly interested. She has adhd so will wear skimpy clothes when its cold and be trussed up in a hoody when its hot.

I am making her sound a bit weird, she actually has a lovely figure and is very pretty so I just want to help her out to make her fit in a bit better.

Superdry i bought her a bikini and some very short beach dresses. Hoards of teenagers in our local branch.....

Also bought some bits at h&m and new look but that's all a bit dubious in my view - ok for basics- and loads of middle aged women in there!!

I found some really nice stuff in pull and bear but she didn't like. I just want to be able to point her in the right direction when we go shopping.

Yes she wears crocs too

And converse.

Stop trying to make her conform to your ideas of beauty.

I find it weird that you’d rather her wear very short beach dresses than what she chooses herself.

Let her experiment to find her style

kirsty2023 · 24/07/2023 09:46

Nothing wrong with flip flops take her shopping with u and let her pick

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 24/07/2023 09:47

My 15 year old wears lots of ripped jeans and cycling shorts. She's got crop tops she wears occasionally. Footwear is either sliders or Nike Air Jordan's

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 24/07/2023 09:47

The normal or massive white sports socks thing, rather than trainer socks is fashionable. As is DMs with incongruous outfits. Let her wear what she wants. If it isn’t fashionable, it is up to her to decide if she cares about that or not.

User63847484848 · 24/07/2023 09:48

My dd of the same age has a clear idea of what she likes but tends to find lots of things in H&M (adult section obviously), urban outfitters (horribly overpriced imo so only the odd thing/bday present), and the odd thing from next, plus she loves charity shops. Some of her choices are a bit granny chic but she always looks nice to me.
she’s recently moved away from wide leg jeans and wanted some low rise flares or bootcut in white and blue denim and some black flared jersey leggings for chilling out at home

HolHello · 24/07/2023 09:50

Huge baggy Jean shorts and baggy tshirts with Nike trainers.

blacknredsweeties · 24/07/2023 09:52

Crop tops
Denim shorts
Trainers
Nike / adidas shorts
Hoodies
Primark T-shirt dresses

She chose it. Entiry appropriate for wearing to a beach resort with 40 degree weather (where she has just been). I said it was for holiday. I wouldn't encourage her to wear it to waitrose. I'm not trying to make her conform.

Glad to hear this. I encouraged her to take flipflops as well as the crocs but she was a bit sniffy about the flip flops. She did say flipflops were better on beach as sand was so hot when she got home though.
