Love the back shape and sleeve detail.
Am not well-endowed, so could even do without bra to avoid back strap showing.

Just not sure I £177 worth love it!
Although I'd get a lot of occasion wear from it.

Recovering foot injury, so no heels/wedges possible.
Will these Huaraches do? They're the only comfortable flats I own:

Love the first dress. I have a couple of dresses from ba-sh and they are nice quality and easy to wear.

Falifornia · 24/07/2023 13:38

@28BarbaryLane I bought my first ever ba&sh dress last Spring. It was more than I'd ever spent on a dress but has done me for weddings, parties, Ascot and a graduation. It was spendy but the quality oozes off it and I feel a million dollars when I wear it.

Connebert · 24/07/2023 13:41

I have found through hard experience that if you have to ask, there's definitely something not quite right about it.

SammyScrounge · 24/07/2023 13:46

That dress is so pretty. Go for it if you can get the funds together.

Wildandwonderful · 24/07/2023 14:51

I think that dress is beautiful and a great fabric, so many others are cheap and nasty. I am sure this will look expensive when you are wearing it because it should hang well.

Just a thought but I hope you give your charity shops a look over...you just never know what you may find...

Absolutely. Much of my wardrobe comes 'pre-loved'!

A few real gems gleaned from them.

However, I've not had time for in-person searches. Our nearest charity and seconds shops are an hour away. Foot injury's been too limiting.

Scoured Vinted, but 3 potential dresses were too hard to judge when unmodelled on a real figure. (I'm new to it, so a bit wary about no returns if item's condition/sizing are all as described, but something just doesn't suit me on?)

@Toomanyclothesinmywardrobe
Thanks for all that info. Really helpful.

@vernonb I totally get what you mean about keeping sense of perspective! But because it won't just be for this one party...to wear for plenty of other future occasions too...is precisely why I'm overthinking.

Thanks for everyone's opinions, even the opposing ones. Which made me consider.

Well, I've bitten the bullet and ordered it! Will update.
And my metallic sandals are actually comfier than I remembered. So will work.

@PegasusReturns
@Falifornia
Glad to hear that. What I'm hoping for, too.

Good for you! I hope it is everything you hope it will be. One really perfect and wearable piece is worth ten times something not quite right or that you just never seem to wear.

Clawdy · 24/07/2023 19:41

Great! That dress is beautiful.

AreolaGrande · 24/07/2023 19:46

Another saying it's a gorgeous dress OP. It's so dreamy 😍.

Chewbecca · 24/07/2023 19:55

Really like your first dress & chuffed it is on its way. Both sandals are fine.
Your 2nd dress is nothing like as special, more for the library or classroom.

Birdsongsinging · 24/07/2023 20:07

Lovely dress - will look forward to the update!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 24/07/2023 21:26

I think it’s a pretty dress. For me I actually prefer the pinks version!

I personally think if you think you’ll keep it and wear it a lot (could you accessorise it a bit?) then it’s more than I’d spend but a good investment piece is worth it’s weight in gold. Not the Huaraches!

Iwishmymumwouldbemymum · 24/07/2023 21:59

The first one is lovely. The second one is a non event.

Toomanyclothesinmywardrobe · 25/07/2023 08:17

No problem! Look forward to hearing if you’re happy when it arrives… I hope so 🤞

ididntwanttodoit · 25/07/2023 12:34

First one is gorgeous, second one very meh

Makemineacosmo · 25/07/2023 13:17

OP I have the first dress and it's beautiful. Colours are gorgeous and it's lovely quality. I hope you love it.

LaBrujaPiruja · 25/07/2023 14:04

@28BarbaryLane
Great dress, I have it (pink) so glad you went for it.
I have many bash dresses and tops and they are durable and good quality, easy to maintain as new. I usually buy in the sale and when in Paris or Spain as it is cheaper than here. The outlet (Bicester) also has good deals.

Sequinsandfrills · 25/07/2023 15:45

First one is gorgeous, very suitable for the occasion and the shoes will be perfect too. 10/10!

Fuzzballworries · 26/07/2023 09:20

I think it's lovely! I am a little surprised at the price tag in a way. Have you looked at Me&Em or Anthropologie? Good sales at the moment and some beautiful dresses. Especially if you have a small bust; their lines would fall really nicely on you.

The shoes are fine IMO.

Fuzzballworries · 26/07/2023 09:24

Sorry didn't FTFT. Glad you ordered it 😊 You will get lots of use; it's smart but totally wearable to the pub, church etc.

UrsulaBelle · 26/07/2023 11:47

Good decision. I bet you’ll wear it at least twice as often as a dress half the price!

Giggorata · 26/07/2023 17:29

Absolutely love that first dress. It is chic and summery. (I want it now)
In my view, the other is on the ugly side of ordinary

JudgeRudy · 26/07/2023 23:42

If your asking if it's suitable then yes. I accept we all have different taste but it looks kinda Meh to me, like something you'd get from Tesco or Newlook or Boohoo rather than £175 worth. Bland and a bit frumpy. I bet you've got nicer stuff already in your wardrobe! In fairness though it doesn't really fit the model (too short in body) so not the most flattering style. Please don't say you're over 5ft6
But it's neutral, inoffesnive and appropriate so if you like it go for it.
